Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2023 Meursault Les Clous comes from the sector on limestone soils towards the north part of the climat. It has an elegant bouquet with orchard fruit, orange blossom, white flowers and light praline scents. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, just a touch of creaminess that segues into a light stem ginger-tinged finish. Enjoy over the next decade. |

Vinous (86-88)The 2019 Monthélie Clos Les Champs Fulliot 1er Cru comes from 0.9 hectares of vine. It was the second parcel to be picked because of its warm microclimate, yet I find more precision on the Les Duresses. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit and touches of dark chocolate and tar. There is more elegance and terroir expression on the Les Duresses this year. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-96)Urgent, exotic aromas of peaches in syrup, dried apricot and papaya. Dense and firm but very closed; distinctly exotic flavors similar to the aromas. Not currently showing the precision or energy of the Cabotte but then this is almost too young to be tasted. Still a touch of malic acidity remaining. Finishes with great sweetness of fruit and persistence. |

Burgundy | 5 | 92-95 (VN) | HK$7,142.00 | |||||
Vinous (92-95)Healthy bright yellow. Aromas of apple, smoky minerals, white pepper and resin. Hugely rich and dense yet at the same time dry and weightless, with a vanillin oak component that has not yet harmonized with the wine's fruit. This pure, complete, large-scaled Montrachet is very reserved today. |

Vinous (98)The 2017 Montrachet Grand Cru has a slight reduction on the nose, although it is nothing to get too worried about. I think it has exceptional mineralité covered up by its youth. The medium-bodied palate is taut, fresh and quite saline, with a fine bead of acidity and some vanilla-y oak toward the very saline finish, though that will be eaten with bottle age. There is outstanding precision on the aftertaste, and that seems to be accentuated with aeration. I gave this a tepid reaction from barrel, but here in bottle, it received my highest score out of over two hundred 2017s. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. |

Jancis Robinson (19)Naughty heavy bottle. Manages to dance on the head of a pin: an extra dimension of weight and density without being heavy, hot or flat. White peach, hazelnut, citrus and stones. Great length. |

Decanter (97)Bouchard’s holding here is superb: 0.90ha on the edge of the Puligny side at midslope between Ramonet and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. In 2019, Bouchard emphasised the richness by picking this parcel last. Ripe apples, white flowers and even a touch of honey make their appearance on the nose, while the texture on the palate is unctuous and deep without being heavy. There is still enough freshness to keep this lively through the intensely long finish. |

Tim Atkin MW (98)Hailing from the Puligny side on the upper slopes between DRC and Ramonet, this sublime wine has incredible freshness and a dazzling aromatic profile. Cinnamon and clove blend with pear core, chamomile, sweet orchard fruit and crushed rocks. Though thoroughly concentrated with good extract, the wine seems to float on the palate thanks to the gracious lift of the seamless, mouth-watering acidity. Vague chalkiness adds compelling texture to the long finish. 2025-40 |

Vinous - Neal Martin (97)The 2021 Montrachet Grand Cru has an elegant bouquet that opens in the glass with crushed stone and light oily/resinous scents, nuanced yet focused with glimpses of tropical fruit though it never impedes. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, precise and mineral-driven. There is an understated element in this "Monty" that is very appealing and it feels reassuringly persistent on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (97-99)(5 Star Wine) Fine pure lemon yellow. The bouquet starts off rather reserved. A suggestion of immense weight, certainly some new oak, but waiting for the fruit and the personality of the wine to emerge. Now some coconut and the feeling that the wine is about to release its magic. Superbly suave on the palate, more lifted than I expected and still the main core of the wine does not want to be touched. A fine mineral acidity at the finish but still wait and see. Only right at the end does it all start to kick in. A wine of immense density for the very long-term future. Retasting the glorious Cabotte reinforces the majesty of this Montrachet. Drink from 2034-2045+. Tasted: October 2023. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (96-98)Medium deep lemon. The nose only barely suggests what is to come. The Montrachet shows massive opulence up front with golden fruit and peaches, then a wall of tension, then suddenly it seems to stop, only to start again and continue on the second half of its journey. A little hard to read in its extreme youth, but I suspect that this will make a very fine Montrachet. Amazing length, all registers of fruit. Drink from 2033-2045. Tasted Oct 2024. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru is higher-toned, verging on glossy compared to its peers with some polished new oak that I feel is masking a slight shortfall in fruit concentration. The palate has a bold entry with mainly black fruit and saturated tannins (for the vintage). It is velvety smooth but just a bit "blocky" towards the finish where I am seeking more finesse and nerve. Not bad though and it deserves a couple of years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Wine Advocate (91-93)The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières is lovely, bursting with aromas of sweet berries, licorice and violets, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent palate built around sweet, powdery tannins. |

James Suckling (95)This a firm and pretty red with a solid tannin backbone to the medium body. Ripe fruit with some walnut, tobacco, and floral undertones. It’s long and flavorful. Balanced and firm. Classic style. Drink in 2025. |
