Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93-95)Vray Croix de Gay is a powerful, brooding wine in 2020. It will be interesting to see if a measure of finesse develops with élevage. There is plenty of richness, that is for sure. Time in the glass, brings out a whole range of red-fleshed fruit, cedar, tobacco, dried flowers and mocha, are all framed by incisive, insistent tannins. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)The 2021 Vray Croix de Gay is perfumed on the nose, offering truffle-tinged red fruit and a touch of damp, loamy soil. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, leading to a light, slightly attenuated finish, yet it has plenty of freshness and should gain weight in barrel. |

James Suckling (97)Breathtaking nose of tropical flowers and foliage after rain, with a whiff of smoke in the air. This has spectacular elegance and minerality for a wine of this stature (14.5% alcohol). I love the fresh-ginger note that already suggests the kind of dishes that would pair beautifully with this masterpiece of restrained extravagance. Only a hint of sweetness at the ravishing finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. |

James Suckling (97)If you’ve never tasted a great Alsace pinot gris, here is the place to start! All the richness and creaminess we expect from this category, but married to lively acidity and pristine clarity. We love the super ripe pear bouquet with hints of exotic fruit and flowers. No perceptible tannins and still dry enough at the delicately spicy and mineral finish to be food-flexible. Drink or hold. |

Decanter (92)William Fevre own 46ha of AP Chablis but there was lots of frost damage in 2021 - the yield was just 18hl/ha! Lovely floral notes here, very precise and focussed. This is already appealing although the acidity is certainly evident. Lingering spice notes on the finish. From a tank sample, with bottling due in November. Drink from next year and for many years. |

Decanter (93)Distinct shellfish notes. Plenty of volume, a fleshy sunny character on the palate, freshened by lingering salinity to finish. Top example of AP Chablis in 2022. From 40ha of vines, with three distinct plots, including one from a lovely vineyard to the east around Viviers, with vines planted in the 1960s, but all of the vines have plenty of age. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-92)The domaine’s holdings cover 38 ha, and the various cuvées have just been blended, and will stay on lees through to December. Pale lemon yellow. An entrancing bouquet, on the sunnier side but with a mineral undercurrent. Sherbet on the palate along with citrus, good concentration, and an evenly balanced finish. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Jun 2024. |

Wine Advocate (91)A step up in tension, the 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy, sourced from a high-maturity site planted with 60-year-old vines, delivers notes of white flowers, pear, peach and honeysuckle. Medium- to full-bodied, ample and textural, the palate is lively and charming. A notably sunny terroir, Beauroy—like Vaillons and Vaudésir—is harvested on the early side to preserve balance and freshness. |
