There's a pinot-like delicacy and precision to this wine that's really intriguing. Clean and brisk, with sweet red fruit flavors and a seductive floral pastille quality. Finishes with impressive cut and persistence, leaving minerals and tangy berry skin notes behind. |

Vinous - Josh Raynolds (92-94)Tasted in two components, and there's no guarantee that these are the ones that Allemand will ultimately blend for this bottling: #1: From argilo-calcaire soils; vivid red berries and cherry on the nose and in the mouth. Shows very good energy and clarity, with strong finishing cut and length. #2: From more granitic soils; deeper, darker and altogether more masculine, with black and blue fruit flavors and a bracing spine of minerality. Shows a suave blend of power and energy and finishes with firm mineral bite and excellent persistence. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The 2020 Cornas Chaillot comes from a mix of lieux-dits (it's mostly Chaillot) as well as some younger vines. It's an incredible wine in its own right and certainly doesn't give much in terms quality to its big brother. Awesome aromatics of crème de cassis, violets, crushed stone, and bouquet garni-like notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a deep, concentrated mid-palate, and ultra-fine tannins. It's a touch more finesse-driven and elegant compared to the Reynard and should round into form with just 5-7 years of bottle age. This is legit awesome Cornas that will have 20-25 years of ultimate longevity. |

Vinous (94)The 2021 Cornas Chaillot outperforms the rustic 2020 I tasted on the same occasion. Ripe black fruit, graphite, cedar, stemmy facets and peppery nuances are all amplified in the glass. Intense and expressive, the medium- to full-bodied 2021 is a gorgeous Chaillot, packing a stunning energetic lift on the mid-palate. Checking out with timeless elegance on the refined finish, the 2021 is a showstopper. |
