Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)The 2023 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion is quite the powerhouse. Ample and potent to the core, Le Clarence is a standout. Black cherry fruit, mocha, gravel, incense, licorice and chocolate fill out the wine's ample, full-bodied frame. Even with all of its natural intensity, Le Clarence is quite polished in its tannin profile.

Jeb Dunnuck (91)Moving to the reds, the 2019 Clementin De Pape Clement sports a deeper ruby/plum color as well as solid Graves character in its notes of smoky tobacco, chocolate, earth, and both red and black fruits. Nicely textured, medium to full-bodied, and bringing plenty of fruit and texture, it's well worth seeking out, and I'd happily drink a bottle any time over the coming 10-12 years, if not longer.

Jeb Dunnuck (90)The 2019 Clementin De Pape Clement Blanc would be great for readers looking for an introduction to outstanding Bordeaux Blanc, as well as the white of this estate. Giving up pretty pineapple, orange, and citrus fruits, it's medium-bodied, has a supple, rounded mouthfeel, good freshness, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 2-3 years.

Wine Enthusiast (93)92-94 Barrel sample. A wine obviously for aging, with its severe tannins and very mineral character. It is dark, brooding, solidly ripe and powerful, with a great waft of final juiciness.

Wine Enthusiast (93)92-94 Big and tannic, very firm and tough. Yet all the fruit is there, offering great potential. There is a ripe, juicy aftertaste. Under the same ownership as Château Léoville-Poyferré in Saint-Julien.

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)The 2014 Le Crock is soft, voluptuous and quite expressive, with the fruit pushed forward and silky tannins to round things out. Today, the flavors are quite primary, but it is the wine's textural harmony and overall balance that stand out most. Hints of plum, crème de cassis, cloves and new leather meld into the inviting finish. Even with all of its richness, the 2014 Le Crock preserves lovely freshness and perfume. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
