The 2021 Musigny Grand Cru clearly has some whole cluster influence, which here is proportional to the fruit concentration. Red cherry and strawberry, cracked black pepper and sage. The palate is medium-bodied with finely sculpted tannins and just a splash of balsamic that infused the red berry fruit, dovetailing into quite a peppery and vibrant finish. Great length. (I tasted this and the following wines in the estate's grand cru cellar, which is typically 2 degrees C cooler): Subdued but very pure aromas of black fruits. Juicy, crunchy and intense in the mouth, with a salty complexity to the flavors of black raspberry and red licorice. Finishes very long, with fine-grained tannins and a sappy flavor of black cherry. This is Vincent's second vintage for this wine, which comes from vines that face southeast but also benefit from the cooling influence of the Combe de la Serrée.HK$860.00 -

The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de Thorey 1er Cru has a lot of toasty oak on the nose plus a touch of reduction. The aromatics are opaque and as a consequence it is not as engaging as some of its peers, though there is attractive whole bunch influence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, moderate acidity, a little chewy in texture with dark berry fruit mixed with spicebox and white pepper. The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de Thorey is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of cherries, wild berries and cassis, mingled with notes of raw cocoa, cinnamon and sweet forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and velvety, with a sappy core of nicely concentrated fruit, melting tannins and lively acids. Exemplifying the elegant style of contemporary Domaine de la Vougeraie, this has turned out very well.HK$6,385.00 -

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Thorey 1er Cru comes from three-hectares of vines with thte 50% whole bunch courtesy of the old vines. The nose offers dark cherries, crushed strawberry and wild hedgerow scents, fine delineation and vigour. The palate is slightly creamy in texture on the entry, quite plush and fruit-driven, pure red cherries and strawberry fruit with a sleek and caressing finish. The nose is perfumed with wilted rose petals and peony filtering through the transparent red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and crisp acidity. Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. This Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2011 has a ripe bouquet, even though there is a touch of reduction, the oak lending light chocolate scents toward the red fruit that appear to ebb away in the glass and flow back with more maritime aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with quite succulent and fleshy tannins. The oak is pronounced here and feels a little dominant on the finish, although there is good weight and a pleasant spicy aftertaste. Hopefully, that unresolved wood will assimilate over the next couple of years and it might then merit a higher score.HK$4,780.00 -

The 2012 Nuits St. Georges Les Damodes is plump, juicy and inviting on the palate, with lovely depth and resonance. This is another wine that comes across as raw and not fully formed. In this case, the malos aren't fully finished yet. Still, there appears to be plenty of mid-palate pliancy here to suggest the Damodes will develop nicely over the coming months and years.HK$900.00 -

Good medium red. Cool, medicinal black cherry, blueberry and violet on the nose. Concentrated, ripe and sappy, showing excellent texture and intense spice character for the vintage. The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru includes one-quarter whole bunch this year. It has a well-defined bouquet of more black than red fruit, plus touches of white pepper and crushed limestone. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, cohesive and silky-smooth. Again, a little more grip would be nice, although it has plenty of charm. Drink after 3–4 years in bottle.HK$1,035.00 -

Clearly, this will need a couple more years to unfurl. The palate offers plenty of crunchy red fruit, quite tart at first, though it feels tensile and mineral driven. The 2017 Pommard Les Petits Noizons is showing very well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of wild berries, smoked meats, rich soil tones, cinnamon and spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, delicate and fine-boned, its perfumed core of fruit framed by powdery tannins and ripe acids. This is an elegant, gently reductive Pommard that should offer a broad drinking window.HK$3,345.00 -

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Village comes from three climats picked and pressed separately. This has a well-defined, chalky bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Village comes from three parcels. It has a touch more presence on the nose compared to other cuvées with candle wax and honeysuckle mixed with orange blossom, quite Chassagne in style. The palate is balanced with a rounded texture. It's pretty generous and, clearly, a wine that is going to be very approachable. It just misses Puligny DNA, though it's a delicious Chardonnay.HK$3,545.00 -
