Vinous (94)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru, over towards the Santenay side, usually takes longer to ripen. The nose is well balanced with fine delineation, touches of honeysuckle and pressed white flowers. The palate is well balanced with a lovely white peach and white chocolate opening, fine salinity, very poised and tensile towards the finish. Superb.

Vinous (90-92)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru Rouge taken from a one-year old barrel, has a well-defined bouquet with bright red cherries and cranberry fruit. Very intense. The palate is medium-bodied with a chalky entry with very fine tannins, lightly spiced with quite a pesistent finish. Excellent.

Vinous (90-92)The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Morgeot 1er Cru is certainly more flattering on the nose than the Clos Saint-Jean at the moment, with ebullient red berry and blueberry fruit, well-defined and expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There’s plenty of fleshy red fruit with cracked black pepper and allspice towards the finish. Maybe the Domaine's strongest red this vintage. Very fine.

Vinous (90)Matured with 20% new oak the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a high-toned and expressive bouquet with white flowers and a touch of tangerine. The palate is well balanced with a finely tuned opening, lemon verbena and apricot, with a pretty, quite floral finish. This is quite classy for a Chassagne Village.

Vinous (87-89)The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a fresh bouquet, perhaps just lacking a little terroir expression, possibly because around 50% here was lost to frost. The palate is better with a sappy entry, a decent spine of acidity and lightly spiced towards the finish. I suspect the aromatics will open by the time of bottling.

Vinous (88)The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is matured in 20% new oak. It has a generous bouquet with orchard fruit, touches of almond and patisserie. It will require a couple of years to absorb the oak. The palate is well-balanced, with a fine bead of acidity countering the richness, though it needs to muster a little more complexity on the finish.

Vinous - Neal Martin (90)The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is the usual blend of six terroirs although in 2025, Céline Fontaine told me that the large production might result in one of those being bottled as a separate cuvée. There is a pleasant reduction at play here. It's quite tensile with yellow fruit and light crushed stone scents. The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity, very pure with a slightly richer, honeyed finish that is irresistible. I see this having wide commercial appeal.

Vinous (88-90)The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge offers lilting red cherry and wild strawberry scents on the nose, hints of rose petal coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine definition, lightly spiced, quite energetic on the finish. This is very elegant for Chassagne Rouge.

Vinous (88-90)Matured in 20% new oak, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge has quite an intense bouquet with dark cherries, blueberry and light violet scents. The palate is well-balanced with a powdery texture, moderate weight, and a little graphite towards the tender but lengthy finish. Give it just a year in bottle.

Vinous - Neal Martin (86-88)The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge has a well-defined, Pommard-like earthy bouquet that unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and blue fruit tones. It's quite dense toward the finish and just needs a little more amplitude.

Wine Advocate (95)The 2013 Criots Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru has an intense and mineral bouquet that soars – touches of white peach and apricot blossom gently drifting from the glass, flecks of chalk and even white chocolate. The palate is fresh and vibrant, hints of white peach and brioche, oyster shell and citrus peel on the precise understated finish. This will be irresistible.

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, which came in at around 13.5% alcohol, has a lovely nose with scents of lemon curd, apricot blossom and cold limestone, a touch of mango emerging with time. The palate is extremely well balanced with a fine line of acidity. There is energy and tension here, tightening up towards the finish but still persistent in the mouth. This has great potential, a reserved Criots that should spread its wings once in bottle.

Vinous - Neal Martin (93-95)The 2023 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru takes time to unfurl touches of walnut and smoke infusing its citrus fruit notes in the glass. The palate is well balanced, very smooth and slightly creamy in texture with discrete hints of praline and white chocolate. This lingers long in the mouth. It's a beautifully crafted Criots, though I prefer the 2022 at this stage.

Wine Advocate (95)Aromas of clear honey, blanched almonds and pear mingle with hints of citrus blossom and orange oil, introducing the 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru, a full-bodied, elegantly textural wine that's supple and enveloping, with lovely depth and dimension at the core, underpinned by lively acids. Long and perfumed, this is an elegant, expressive Montrachet from Fontaine-Gagnard.

Vinous (95)The 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru, of which there is one and a half barrels this year (actually the maximum that the domaine produces), has an intense oyster shell and flinty bouquet, touches of hazelnut and white peach developing with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a very slight reduction on the entry, lively and very concentrated with orange rind and quince towards the finish. The new oak from the half barrel is conspicuous at the moment but that will be integrated with time in bottle.

Vinous (94)The 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru has an intense nose, quite powerful, maybe the oak a little too present at the moment. The palate is powerful too, touches of tropical fruit infusing the citrus fruit, lightly spiced with a slightly heavy finish. Very fine, but it will require time to absorb the new oak.

Vinous (92-94)There is just one barrel of 2021 Montrachet Grand Cru this year (normally there is one and a half). It has an intense bouquet, though it doesn't quite have the panache of the Bâtard-Montrachet, a hint of menthol emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a dab of stem ginger on the entry, fine depth, powerful and concentrated with an intense finish.

Vinous (95-97)The 2022 Montrachet Grand Cru is the only cuvée in two one-year-old barrels. I don't think it needs new oak. There is real energy and complexity here, orange pith and lemon verbena, touches of lemon curd. The palate is beautifully balanced with great depth and power, far more than the Bâtard-Montrachet. It has a beguiling length and precision, velvety smooth, with a hint of walnut on the finish. Divine.
