Vinous (95)The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru sports quite a bit of reduction on the nose that makes the terroir and fruit profile difficult to read. The palate is well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and good depth; quite powerful for a Folatières. Fine bitter lemon notes surface on the finish, which is very sapid and more-ish. A long-term wine but well worth cellaring. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. |

The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a little more weighty than expected with touches of apricot and quince towards the citrus-fresh finish that leaves a residue of spice on the tongue. Excellent. |

It is very focused with wet limestone, apple blossom and a touch of blackcurrant leaf. The palate is well balanced with a touch of white chocolate on the entry, more expressive and deeper than the Les Referts with more tension and terroir expression on the finish. Excellent. |

It does not detract from the freshness or delineation. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry. Again, predictably, there is some reduction but it feels complete and full with impressive weight and depth on the finish. Tuck this away for a couple of years - there is promise here.
