Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a light nose with red berry fruit and light tertiary scents. Initially, it suggests a shortfall in complexity and vigour, yet after ten minutes, it coheres nicely and gains bags of charm. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins. Crisp and sapid, this offers tightly coiled red fruit that conveys a sense of energy. Bright and tensile on the finish, this is a Clos de Vougeot that I end up admiring. Vinous (93-95)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits-Monts 1er Cru has more intensity and slightly darker fruit compared to the Les Suchots, but it shares the same enthralling delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This displays exquisite balanced, a little tight on the finish but it is supremely well focused with a very persistent, lightly peppered finish courtesy of the 20% whole bunches. Wonderful. |

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, very peppery in style with touches of white pepper and bay leaf towards the persistent finish. This is a classy wine, one that is not unlike Dujac’s Echézeaux! |
