Arguably the World's Best Value Chardonnay
Always 'superb quality for the price' in the words of the Wine Advocate, the new 2019 release is no different with a very humble price-point, from only just over £13 per bottle IB.
Scoring 96 points from James Suckling, 94 points from Vinous (its highest ever score) and 93+ points from the Wine Advocate, we can't get enough of this 'textbook 2019 Chardonnay' (WA).
Receiving so many high scores in consecutive vintages has firmly established El Enemigo's 'rock star Chardonnay' (JS) as one of the finest white wines in South America.
Produced using grapes from their famous Gualtallary vineyard, there is an amazingly complex nose of cooked apple, lemon curd and hints vanilla that gives way to cedar, hazelnut, hints of white fruit, a stony minerality and a whiff of sherry. 'Elegant and subtle, seamless and integrated' (WA), it is crazy how easy it seems for winemaker Alejandro Vigil to make a Chardonnay with such a 'creamy texture and beautiful fruit' (JS).
Already drinking wonderfully now, there is enough structure here that Vinous's Joaquín Hidalgo gives it a drinking window up to 2034. This is a wine that will reward those with patience to hold back a few cases, and at this price one can afford to buy cases to drinking now and cases to cellar.
Released from only £80 per case IB, the El Enemigo Chardonnay already has a legion of followers and we encourage customer secure their cases on release because prices rise surprisingly quickly on the secondary market.
