As well as earning the estate notable fame, the magical things Fraser has been doing with Grenache and Shiraz even earnt him James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year 2016. Excitingly, his explorations to the parameters of Australian winemaking are expressed not only in his top wines but also towards the value end of the estates range.

A 'wonderfully different wine, welcoming investigation, not hiding anything' that is a 'voyage of discovery' in the eyes of James Halliday is their exceptional value Yangarra Noir 2019. Scoring 95 points from Halliday, the Rhône blend of 62% Grenache, 15% Shiraz, 12% Mourvèdre and others might suggest a traditional punchy Aussie red but this 'lovely light-bodied, juicy wine' (JH) is more akin to the cool-climate wines of Tasmania or New Zealand.

Coming from 35 individual blocks in the McLaren Vale, it is experiences more moderate Mediterranean like temperatures compared to areas like the Barossa Valley, particularly at night, letting the wine develop greater acidity and structure. Each block is defined by different aspects and subtle variations of the sand and Ironstone soils that overlie the ancient North Maslin Sands geological formation resulting in a surprisingly complex wine for costing just under £16 per bottle IB.
