Perched on the appellation's limestone famous plateau, Château de Pressac is 'one of Saint-Émilion's under the radar gems' (Antonio Galloni) and in the 2017 vintage they stand should-to-shoulder with many giants of Bordeaux.

While 2017 was a difficult year for many in Bordeaux, but due to the elevation of the vineyards at Château de Pressac, they were spared any of the damage from the frosts and as a result have managed to create a wine of 'pure class' (AG).

The De Pressac 2017 is a 'sleeper vintage' in the eyes of Galloni. Scoring 94 points from Vinous, the highest scoring vintage to date, this 'deep, plush and wonderfully expressive' wine scores the same as Angélus in 2017 but is offered at 1/14 of the price, at just over £18 per bottle IB.

Possessing a 'terrific energy to match its translucent personality' (AG), Saint-Émilion doesn't get much better than this for the price. With sweet floral, blood orange and spice nuances adding 'striking aromatic top notes' (AG), it has a palate that is 'energetic and refreshing with bags of crunchy black fruit and a soft texture, finishing with lovely purity' (Wine Advocate). With a drinking window up to 2040, we cannot agree with Decanter's Jane Anson more when she states 'this is skilful'.

You can also feel guilt free when drinking a bottle of De Pressac 2017 from this offer as you will be helping the environment, because with every bottle purchased a tree will be planted. This is done via the Reforestaction fund, whose current project is helping plant 250,000 trees in the Saint-Michel de l'Attalaye region of Haiti.

Offered today at just £110 per case IB, it is hard to find a weakness in the De Pressac 2017. Ticking all the boxes of quality, price and sustainability, this Saint-Émilion gem is so good that Galloni calls it 'pure class' twice in his tasting note. You don't need much more of a testament than that.
