Owned by the Garcin family, of Clos l’Eglise and Barde-Haut, and situated near Malartic Lagraviere and Domaine de Chevalier, Château Haut-Bergey lived up to it's famous siblings and neighbors in 2009 by being 'one of the best over-achieving, value-priced wines in Pessac-Leognan' in the eyes of Robert Parker.

Today we are excited to be able to offer a pristine ex-château parcel of the perfectly mature Haut-Bergey 2009 that scores 94 points from the Wine Advocate's Robert Parker and 93 points from James Suckling, the best vintage ever from both critics.

This 'under-the-radar, high quality claret' (RP) reveals notes of blackcurrant, ripe cherries, scorched earth, pencil shavings and opens up on the palate with supple tannins and a beautifully smooth texture. A perfectly mature Bordeaux, this is in its prime drinking window but will also cellar for another 15 years for those inclined to wait a little longer.

The value for money cannot be stressed enough here. Mature Bordeaux normally commands a significant premium but at only just over £26 per bottle IB this is better value than many similar scoring new Bordeaux releases. It also stands out next to it's direct Pessac-Léognan rivals Domaine de Chevalier and Malartic-Lagravière.

Offered today at just £315 per twelve IB, the highest scoring vintage ever of the perfectly mature Haut-Bergey 2009, that still has another decade and a half of drinking ahead, looks exceptional value for money from a region that has seen significant price rises over the last two decades as demand has soared.
