Rall Wines 2022s

A winemaker who is "large-scale in height and talent", we can't agree more with Decanter's Tina Gellie when she argues that Donovan Rall is a "name to know" in the incredibly exciting world of South African wine. The praise for Rall's wines has been pretty unanimous across all major critics who have had the pleasure of tasting his wines over the last few years. Rall Wines was named Platter's Editor's 'Winery of the Year 2021', the estate has been one of Tim Atkin MW's Cape 'First Growth' producers for a number of years and Vinous's Neal Martin has even called Donovan "one of the most consistent winemakers in South Africa" whose wines offer such good value for money that one would have to 'search high and wide' to find better.

An exceptionally talented vigneron who champions a minimal-intervention approach, he cut his teeth in New Zealand and the Rhône Valley before working for the legendary Sadie Family, one of the foremost winemaking icons in South Africa and where he learnt his appreciation for the the diverse terroir of Swartland. Setting out on his own in 2008, he garnered a five-star rating from Platter’s Wine Guide in his first vintage and has never looked back.
