Decanter (96)
The nose is shy and subtle, though notions of red apple, peppery rye crumb, stone and lemon emerge with more air. Tightly coiled, the palate suggests spicy riches with its insinuations of white pepper and tangerine peel. A lovely interplay of Pinot richness and Chardonnay slinkiness, showing depth, svelteness and elegance. It justs needs air to breathe. Gorgeous.HK$2,790.00 -

Brilliant ruby with a brightening rim. Fragrant and inviting nose, full of dark cherry, plum and rose petal, some beeswax in the background. Firm, dense tannins, fresh fruit, surprisingly fresh acidity, shows good tension, rich drive on the finish, still needs some ageing.HK$2,180.00 -

The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Piero is mysteriously dark and heady, the display of smoke and ashen stone evolving to show crushed blackberries, savory herbs and hints of camphor. The textures are velvety and dense, and a wave of mineral-tinged red and black fruits drenches the palate in primary depths of concentration. Beneath it all, a coating of fine-grained tannins settles in, slowly working to encase the senses with youthful tension and poise. Even still, a lasting mix of cherries, black tea and menthol carries on for what seems like a full minute. While I don’t expect this to mature as gracefully as past renditions of the single-vineyard Piero, it’s a total success for the vintage.HK$3,695.00 -

The 2018 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru is matured with 30% whole bunch and 50% new oak. It has a very attractive bouquet of brambly red fruit, rose petals and light undergrowth aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers a dash of white pepper on the opening. Well balanced, with quite a structured and serious finish. Excellent.HK$2,030.00 -
(6x75cl) 2023Burghound (89-91)
Pungent aromas of reduction and wood toast are all that can be discerned on the brooding nose. By contrast, there is good punch to the smoky medium weight flavors that are generous and quite rich while maintaining good balance on the nicely persistent finale. This could use better depth but that should come in time.HK$2,470.00 -
Burghound (91-93)
(Sweet Spot) (from Bas de Teurons). An elegant, pure and airy nose also freely reveals its aromas the essence of red currant, cherry and pretty floral nuances. The refined, energetic and well-detailed medium weight flavors possess a lacy mouthfeel while exuding a subtle bead of minerality on the youthfully austere and beautifully long finale. This is lovely and very Teurons in style.HK$3,325.00 -
(6x75cl) 2023Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92)
Pale lemon colour. A clean clear cut white fruit here. Riper apples start to show and a sense of the flesh from this clay-based but stone rich soil. Plenty of depth on the palate, this is very true to its origins. Just the right acidity to back up the finish. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$5,335.00 -

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru seems to be fulfilling the promise it showed from barrel. Elegant and very pure on the nose, it unfurls with those same brambly red berry fruit scents, tinged with potpourri and wilted rose petal. The palate conveys that sense of transparency, filigreed tannins framing pretty red fruit, and shows decent grip on the finish. I can see this maturing with style.HK$4,485.00 -

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a wonderful, pixelated bouquet of vibrant red berry fruit, the cool microclimate imbuing this cru with great tension and precision. That translates across onto the elegant, refined palate, which fans out beautifully on the finish. This is seriously good.HK$6,850.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)
5 Star Wine. Two thirds of the vines were planted in from 1929, and the rest are not much younger. Very millerand grapes which were destemmed. Seven barrels made, which is unheard of even in the memory of the Maume family, whence these vines originated. Bright vigorous purple fruit, very sensual, picked at ideal ripeness, the fruit flowing across the palate, backed by useful tannins to finish. Drink from 2029-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$9,600.00 -

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Etelois is completely de-stemmed. It has a floral bouquet that bursts from the glass, revealing rose and iris petals and even a touch of lavender. The medium-bodied palate offers fleshy ripe tannins, fine acidity and a touch of allspice and clove toward the finish. There is still a touch of new oak to be subsumed, but this will be a very fine Aux Etelois.HK$2,820.00 -
Burghound (93-95)
(Don't Miss) (from Mazis-Bas). An elegant, airy and beautifully layered nose is spicier still with plenty of floral influence suffusing the mix of red and dark currant, anise and forest floor. The super-sleek and equally, if markedly denser, medium-bodied flavors exhibit excellent power on the sappy, balanced and wonderfully persistent finale that is unmistakably built to repay extended keeping. One to strongly consider.HK$21,000.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-97)
45% whole bunch. Lifted ruby purple. A touch of coconut from the wood. This has much more finesse than the Charmes. Really graceful on the palate yet still with tensile strength. An excellent fruit acid balance too, altogether a classy Mazoyères. Very persistent. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$17,410.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-91)
Destemmed, 20% new wood, now racked to tank. A lovely fresh crimson colour. Mixed red berries, including strawberry, this is unforced and very pleasing. Tannins, lighter acidity, but the fruit wins through. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Nov 2024.HK$3,600.00 -

The 2023 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru is completely destemmed this year. It has a fresh and more marine-influenced bouquet to the point where you might misconstrue there being some stems in the mix. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and much more elegant than the 2022. It has fine tannins and nice poise with a harmonious finish. There's not enormous length, but this is really quite a lovely Volnay.HK$4,695.00 -

Among the most saturated blue/purple/black-colored examples of the vintage, Taylor's 2000 tastes like a young vintage of Chateau Latour on steroids. Aromas of graphite, blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis and smoke jump from the glass. Spectacularly concentrated and enormously endowed, with sweetness allied to ripe tannin, decent acidity, and layer upon layer of fruit and extract, this is the leading candidate for the port of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2040.HK$7,705.00 -
Jancis Robinson (19.5)
This wine was placed immediately after the super-opulent Fonseca in the BFT tasting which may have been a mistake. This is restrained. Well mannered, discreet, keeps its powder very dry. But on the palate it opens out in the most superb, burgundian peacock's tail sort of way. Another wonderful wine from The Fladgate Partnership. Utterly different from the Fonseca. Upright and straight backed. But irreproachable. My gums are virtually impervious to sugar and acid but this wine set them vibrating a bit. Dried prunes ground up with rocks.HK$2,935.00 -

Jancis Robinson (17.5)
Blackish crimson with medium rim. Heady and ripe on the nose. Subtle and savoury. Satin-smooth palate entry and a very dry end but really exciting and herbal in the middle. Very much in the Taylor's idiom. Neat and ambitious.HK$2,745.00 -
Wine Orbit (96)
Revealing elegance and sophistication, the engaging bouquet shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, warm spice and toasted nut characters with nuances of truffle and floral. The palate displays outstanding concentration and focus, while offering rich texture and expansive mouthfeel, superbly framed by loads of fine, polished tannins. Multi-layered and magnificently flowing to an impressively long silky finish. The wine is gloriously composed and expressed, promising to evolve gracefully. The wine exhibits classic Te Mata elegance, freshness and refinement within a perfectly formed structure.HK$2,300.00 -
Bob Campbell MW (98)
Bright, youthful blended red of cabernet sauvignon (52%), merlot (33%) and cabernet franc (15%). This is classic Coleraine with cassis, cedar, floral, blueberry, a suggestion of wood-smoke, anise and spicy oak flavours. Terrific depth and an exquisite balance between fruit sweetness and acid/tannin structure. It will be a long-distance runner.HK$3,165.00 -
Wine Orbit (100)
Destined for a long life, this majestic offering shows cassis, dark plum, hint of tobacco, cedar and floral aromas on the nose. The palate is packed with rich fruit intensity combined with layers of silky texture and complex flavours, wonderfully supported by perfectly pitched chalky tannins, making it sturdy and structured with a seemingly endless finish. Flawless and spellbinding. A blend of 59 cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot & 4% cabernet franc. At its best: 2029 to 2049.HK$3,610.00 -
Decanter (98)
Today covering almost 17 hectares, the estate's Cabernet Franc is subject to a broad as much as a severe selection, which has improved the wines. It was sourced from a single plot in 2008, while this 2016 comes from 10 different plots. The French clones (326 - 327) can be problematic according to winemaker Pierre Seillan: 'With too high yields, too much herbal character is achieved, while with a tight leaf canopy it wouldn't ripen properly'. Cabernet Franc is not new to producing outstanding wines in Tuscany, and Seillant is not new to managing this grape variety in pursuit of excellence. Crimson in colour, it has a super restrained Cab Franc character of cassis and eucalyptus, with an almost citrus flavour in depth and a sweet, toasty finish of milk chocolate, liquorice and cacao powder. This 2016 is sleek and concentrated, with ripe, refined tannins and refreshing acidity. A full and tense wine.HK$3,165.00 -

The Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Gresy 2010 Langhe Virtus is a blend of 60% Barbera and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is always a late release, and there's a big risk to that with so much bottle and vintage variation to account for. However, this 2010 expression has all its ducks in a row. The bouquet is concentrated and thick, with plenty of power and depth. The bouquet shows dark fruit, with licorice, camphor ash and ink. This is a treat for people who love the magic of old wines. Exactly 8,433 bottles were made.HK$2,760.00 -

The 2016 Boca is fabulous. A burst of sweet red cherry, cedar, tobacco, leather, woodsy and earthy notes gives the Guardasole Boca a real sense of assertiveness. Powerful and exuberant, yet within the classic framework of Boca, the 2016 has an untamed, wild personality that is impossible to miss. Readers need to spend some time with the 2016, as it has a lot to say. The 2016 is complex and introverted, but there is a lot going on. I would be tempted to cellar it for a few years, as the tannins are a bit overpowering today.HK$2,640.00 -

The 2021 Terlaner Riserva Cuvée Nova Domus lifts up with an airy bouquet that blends ground ginger with dusty dried flowers, crushed green apples and spice aromas. This washes across the palate with silky textures and ripe orchard fruits. Sour citrus notes add contrast, guided by brisk acidity. The 2021 finishes full of youthful tension and lightly tannic, leaving a spicy sensation and a bitter lemon rind tinge that class the taster back to the glass.HK$2,240.00 -

The Cantina Terlano 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Noir Riserva Monticol is fresh and even wild with forest bramble, tart cassis or cranberry. The winemaking style hones in on freshness and brightness, all this thanks to high-altitude mountain winemaking, with plenty of floral detailing focused on violet and Alpine wild flower. These results are fine and silky, and take note of that pretty freshness that gives lots of life and energy to the finish. Some 45,000 bottles were released. This is a Pinot Noir to serve with an Asiago cheese made in the Alps.HK$1,550.00 -
James Suckling (94)
What a beautiful fragrance this very elegant Alpine pinot noir has! Fine red-berry and dried orange-peel aromas with delicate spice from oak. Wonderful integration of generous body and fine tannins, building gently at the long, structured finish. From vineyards between 500 and 600 meters above sea level. Drink or hold.HK$2,630.00 -

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Quarz is youthfully coy, opening with an airy bouquet that mixes crushed rocks with dried flowers, hints of petrol and nectarines. This is pure pleasure on the palate, soft and round, with juicy acidity and ripe citrus-tinged orchard fruits that swirl as salty mineral tones penetrate deeply. The 2022 finishes with outstanding length and tension, leaving hints of sour melon and a tart lemon rind tinge. The 2022 is intense and built for the cellar.HK$3,195.00
