Arnoux-Lachaux
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux
Established in 1858, Arnoux-Lachaux is a family affair. Pascal Lachaux (son-in-law of the late Robert Arnoux) is the fifth generation making wine at this Domaine, which has significant grand Cru holdings. he is now working in the winery with his son Charles who has joined him after working in wine regions in New Zealand, South Africa and Oregon.
The Domaine’s wine has always been good but its quality and reputation are sharply rising. A new winery, cellar upgrade and acquisition of a parcel of the Grand Cru Latricieres Chambertin have all contributed.

(1x300cl) 2009Vinous (94)
Bright red-ruby. Blackberry, currant, minerals, violet and licorice on the nose and palate. Opulent, sweet and rich, but with its unctuous texture nicely leavened by sound acidity. Really wonderfully creamy, pliant wine, with a very long, perfumed finish featuring a light dusting of tannins that coats the entire mouth. A superb vintage for this bottling, to enjoy over the next 10 to 15 years.HK$25,480.00 -
(6x75cl) 2010Vinous (94)
Good deep red. Unusually closed and less exotic than usual on the nose for this cuvee, hinting at crushed raspberry and Oriental spices, with notes of leather, mocha and minerals emerging with air. Concentrated and sweet, boasting a wonderfully sappy core of raspberry and mineral flavors. The very supple tannins arrive quite late and spread out to dust the palate. The superb rising finish perfumes the mouth. A beauty, but hands off for at least five or six years.HK$41,080.00 -
(6x75cl) 2011Vinous (93+)
Bright, dark red. Wild aromas of black fruits, licorice, violet, bitter chocolate and Oriental spices, plus a whiff of leather. Dense, suave and firmly built, showing a distinctly sappy quality to the complex flavors of black fruits, spices and minerals. The energetic, very long finish features suave, firm tannins and bright lingering notes of spices and violet. Showing the serious side of 2011, but Pascal Lachaux destemmed everything in this vintage.HK$28,085.00 -
Vinous (93)
(50% vendange entier; 100% new oak): Medium red. Tighter on the nose than the 2014 version, offering scents of raspberry, bitter chocolate and peppery spices; this will go truffley with bottle age. Then surprisingly sweet but pungent in the mid-palate, combining a wonderfully silky texture with terrific floral tension. Boasts high-pitched citrus peel, blood orange and spice notes that excite the taste buds. Finishes with very fine-grained tannins and terrific grip and length. Near-grand cru quality here.HK$48,500.00 -
Vinous (92-95)
(100% vendange entier; 80% new oak; from a healthy crop of 42 hectoliters per hectare):Bright red-ruby. A touch of reduction mostly dissipated to reveal classic Suchots scents of black raspberry, Oriental spices, flowers and fresh herbs, plus an intriguing note of paprika. Wonderfully silky, plush, generous wine with sneaky inner-mouth energy. The wine's sweet oak component will need a few years to harmonize with its fruits and flowers. Finishes with terrific length and substantial ripe tannins. This should ultimately make a wonderfully complete Burgundy.HK$6,205.00 -

(1x75cl) 2017Vinous (93-95)
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has quite a reticent bouquet at first and demands a lot of coaxing. Eventually it reveals a mixture of red and black fruit, mixed with potpourri and incense. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, hints of espresso infusing the red fruit, and the 100% whole bunches lending a touch of Moroccan spice toward the long finish. This is a Suchots with pedigree.HK$10,665.00 -

(12x75cl) 2013Burghound (88-91)
An airy and beautifully broad-ranging nose offers up notes of floral, spice and pure red and dark berries. The delicious and round yet nice detailed and vibrant flavors possess a dusty yet refined mouth feel before terminating in a lingering, balanced and harmonious finale. Lovely and understated.HK$37,385.00 -
Vinous (88-90)
(40% vendange entier; 20% new oak): Musky aromas of dark cherry, boysenberry, minerals and smoked meat. In a juicy, distinctly airy style, even a bit slight in the early going, but this wine also conveys an impression of stem intensity (and extraction) to its flavors of black fruits, flowers and spices. Finishes with firm tannins.HK$3,155.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
(70% vendange entier; 15% new oak; tasted from tank): Healthy dark red. Enticing aromas of raspberry, spices, bitter chocolate and licorice. Wonderfully dense but juicy too, with its black fruit and mint flavors lifted by a floral element. Voluminous, classy, perfumed and very long, with the tannins barely noticeable today. A superb village wine.HK$68,430.00 -

(1x75cl) 2017Vinous (88-90)
Containing 70% whole bunches, the 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village is a blend of Les Communes, Les Saules and Bossières. It has a very floral bouquet, with wilted rose petals infusing the brambly red fruit, and hints of lavender tucked in just beneath. The medium-bodied palate is strict and linear, offering quite firm tannin and perhaps just requiring a little more finesse toward the finish at the moment. This is quite an uncompromising Village Cru, but intellectually it is very satisfying.HK$4,860.00 -

Vinous (91)
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village has the most fruit on the nose compared to the Village Crus from Nuits Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, pure dark cherries, raspberry and crushed stone scents, just a touch of wild mint emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, a fine bead of acidity, quite sweet with crunchy red fruit towards the finish. Palpable energy here, this is well worth seeking out.HK$5,245.00 -

Deep ruby-red. Musky, expressive aromas of black fruits, flowers and coffee. Suave, silky and sweet, with lovely volume leavened by the wine's juiciness and floral lift. Finishes with sweet, smooth tannins and excellent length. This may be the best vintage to date for this bottling.HK$38,405.00 -
(1x75cl) 2015Vinous (89-92)
(from 60-year-old vines; vinified with 80% whole clusters; this and all of the estate's crus wines were still in barrel in early November): Aromas of raspberry and underbrush. Plush in texture but more restrained than the wines that were already in tank. The fruit is here a bit more medicinal and minty and less sweet at this stage. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and a spicy element. In an awkward phase.HK$4,890.00 -

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières, from vines that more or less back onto the walls of Clos Vougeot, contains 80% whole bunches. The harmonious bouquet of red currant and cranberry fruit reveals touches of crushed stone and forest floor. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, a perfect line of acidity and beautiful focus, plus a tang of spice toward the structured finish. Superb.HK$4,625.00 -

A bit less deep in color than the Chaumes, perhaps simply a matter of the more recent sulfuring. Raspberry, exotic spices and a hint of blood orange on the nose; seems a bit more evolved than the Chaumes. Then suave and silky in the mouth, with lovely delicacy in the middle palate and a slowly mounting finish culminating in a whiplash of flavor. This seems almost ready to bottle.HK$3,110.00 -
