Arnoux-Lachaux
Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux
Established in 1858, Arnoux-Lachaux is a family affair. Pascal Lachaux (son-in-law of the late Robert Arnoux) is the fifth generation making wine at this Domaine, which has significant grand Cru holdings. he is now working in the winery with his son Charles who has joined him after working in wine regions in New Zealand, South Africa and Oregon.
The Domaine’s wine has always been good but its quality and reputation are sharply rising. A new winery, cellar upgrade and acquisition of a parcel of the Grand Cru Latricieres Chambertin have all contributed.

Burghound (88)A cool, pretty and pure nose reflects notes of various red berries, floral and a hint of earth. There is terrific energy and fine detail to the utterly delicious flavors that possess outstanding depth and length for a regional wine. Recommended. |

Wine Advocate (89)The 2016 Bourgogne Pinot Fin unfurls in the glass with aromas of berries, currants, raw cocoa and licorice. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent, with tangier acids and a tighter-knit core than the 2017 rendition, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. The cuvée's name indicates its provenance from superior selections of Pinot Noir that produce small berries and open clusters. |

Jancis Robinson (16.5)A blend of seven plots in Chambolle, Vosne and Nuits-St-Georges – about half of the fruit is from Chambolle. 100% whole bunch. 34 hl/ha (lower than in 2017). 10,000 bottles produced (8,500 in 2019). Lightish cherry red. Scented nose with lively fruit but savoury rather than sweet. Succulent, supple and with generous and fresh fruit. Gentle and persistent. Mouth-watering. Really polished but natural (in the general sense of the word, ie authentic) at the same time. Seems effortless. You could drink this now though it does have a fine backbone and a refreshing dry texture on the finish. |

Vinous (87)The 2019 Bourgogne Pinot Fin, half from Chambolle-Musigny and half from Bourgogne vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, matured in used barrels, has a very well-defined bouquet with brambly red fruit with light loamy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, light tannins, a little leafy around the edges with a touch of spice towards the finish. |

Burghound (88-90)Not surprisingly this is aromatically more elegant with its cool and pure aromas of essence of red berries and lilac scents. The round and seductively textured medium weight flavors exude a fine bead of minerality on the appealingly detailed, sappy and punchy finish. This is also quite refreshing and utterly delicious. |

Vinous (89)Bright, dark red. Slightly high-toned aromas of dark cherry, menthol, earth, leather and minerals; I might have guessed Nuits-Saint-Georges. Surprisingly supple and sweet in the mouth, offering considerable early appeal. Not especially complex but nicely full and satisfying. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and lingering suggestions of leather and saline minerality. This wine was vinified with 40% whole clusters. |

Vinous (88-91)(70% vendange entier): Bright red-ruby. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, violet and bitter chocolate. Plush, fat and sweet, offering lovely fullness and roundness for village wine. A rather dark-fruit style of Chambolle villages, finishing with serious but fine-grained tannins and very good length. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village comes from north-facing vineyards toward the upper slopes the last vines to ripen, as they can lie in the shade. Containing 80% whole bunch fruit, it has a well-defined, slightly tertiary bouquet with touches of black pepper and pencil lead. The medium-bodied palate presents fresh red fruit, lightly spiced with white pepper, sage and a touch of tobacco, perhaps a little Morey-like in structure, but with a very long finish. Excellent. |

Burgundy | 1 | 90-92 (VN) | HK$18,425.00
Vinous (90-92)The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a very harmonious, slightly earthy bouquet, the 100% whole bunch lending a very discreet tertiary/sous-bois quality. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit (cranberry, strawberry and pomegranate). This has quite strict tannins and a Morey-inspired, sapid finish. Good potential. |

Vinous (89)The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Village shows the stems a little more than the Nuits Saint-Georges and will require longer to assimilate. There is quite an attractive tertiary aspect to this Chambolle, hints of brown spices and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, quite fresh with a fine acidity, for me, just missing a little density and grip towards the finish. |

Vinous (90-92)(50% vendange entier; 70% new oak): Deep, bright red-ruby. Musky aromas of black raspberry, black cherry, licorice and dark chocolate are a bit inexpressive in the early going. The youthfully stunted palate is somewhat musclebound and dry today, with the wine's sweetness currently in the deep background. This powerfully tannic Clos-Vougeot is likely to need extended bottle aging. |

Burgundy | 1 | 95-97 (VN) | HK$8,550.00
Vinous (95-97)The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is 60% whole bunch fruit. It has a very natural, precise bouquet of almost crystalline red fruit infused with crushed stone, all correct and very focused. The well-balanced, tensile palate offers fresh acidity and an infectious sense of energy. Why can’t all Clos Vougeot be as refined and enthralling as this? Outstanding. |

Burgundy | 1 | 90-93 (VN) | HK$3,760.00
Vinous (90-93)Bright ruby-red. Perfumed, bright aromas of black cherry, violet and bitter chocolate. Big, chewy, sweet and rich, with nicely delineated dark fruit, mineral and smoke flavors. Finishes firmly tannic and long. The crop level here was just 32 hectoliters per hectare, according to Lachaux, who told me his parcel is adjacent to the Grands-Echezeaux of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti. |
