Herència Altés
About Herència Altés
Founded by Nùria Altés and Rafael De Haan in 2010, Herència Altés started off by purchasing grapes from Nùria’s father and, by 2013, had become successful enough to acquire their own vineyard – La Serra. Located in the Terra Alta DO in Catalonia about 420 to 480 meters above sea level (one of the highest altitude vineyards in the region), La Serra is largely planted to old Garnacha and Cariñena (commonly referred to as Grenache and Carignan respectively) vines, some more than 100 years old!
Herència Altés has also engaged consulting winemaker Claude Gros, whose achievements have not gone unnoticed by Jeb Dunnuck.
“I’ve been tasting with oenologist and winemaker Claude Gros for upwards of a decade now and I’d wager he’s one of the most talented, yet least known top consultants in the wine world today.” – Jeb Dunnuck

Vinous (93)Brilliant ruby-red. A complex, expansive bouquet evokes red fruit preserves, smoky minerals, exotic spices and candied flowers that show excellent clarity. Sappy, alluringly sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry, cherry liqueur, spicecake flavors and a suave floral undertone. Plays richness off of energy adroitly and shows no rough edges. The mineral and spice notes drive an impressively long, sharply delineated finish that's framed by velvety, steadily mounting tannins. |
