About Maison Louis Jadot
A legendary name in Burgundy with which every collector will be intimately familiar, Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by the eponymous Louis Henry Denis Jadot, although the family had roots as grape growers in the region dating back far further than this.
Purchased by the Kopf family after the death of the last male members of the Jadot family, the Maison currently owns over 60 hectares of vines itself whilst purchasing fruit from select growers to supplement their holdings. In Jacques Lardière, this mighty winery has one of the most experienced and highly respected winemakers in the entire region, having held the position through the transition of ownership since 1970!
A true pioneer of low intervention viticulture and winemaking, Lardière believes the terroir of his sites is the single most beautiful tool at his disposal. It is the soil and sunlight of Burgundy which transposes the wines of Maison Louis Jadot, conveying a sense of time and place in the greatest of Burgundian fashions.

The palate is ripe and sensual on the entry with a keen line of acidity. The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru is precocious on the nose, the upfront, bold macerated small cherries mingling with raspberry jam and elderberry. The palate is all about texture, velvety smooth and very plush, but at the moment the oak completely covers the terroir expression, and I would like to see more complexity and tension on the finish. The 2018 Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre 1er Cru has a glossy, high-toned bouquet of toasty red fruit that misses the elegance found in some of Jadot’s Savignys. The 2023 Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre 1er Cru is actually a step up from the preceding pair of Savigny's, with more precision, finely assimilated oak and a subtle pressed flower element emerging with aeration. This articulates its limestone soil. The palate is well balanced as vibrant, citrus-fresh red fruit laced with orange peel leads to a nicely controlled and quite elegant finish. The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre has more detail and terroir expression than the Combottes: well-defined with crushed stone and dried yellow flowers complementing the citrus fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a waxy texture. A dash of white pepper enlivens this Pernand, which fans out nicely on the finish. One of my picks from Jadot's whites this year.HK$1,750.00 -

5 Star Wine. Fresh mid lemon. A little bit of oak joins the fruit on the nose, and there is a floral element too. Then the palate offers the limestone pebble effect. Bright medium red. Floral and peppery high notes to the aromas of red berries, medicinal red cherry, iron and herbs. Offers very good density and a fine-grained texture, showing a subtle sweetness to its red berry, spice and menthol flavors. Lovely inner-mouth definition and lift here: this wine really showcases the raciness of the vintage. This juicy, fruity but also minerally Rugiens finishes with a very fine dusting of tannins that reach the front teeth and attractive floral lift. Still a baby.HK$3,725.00 -

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has a clean and precise bouquet with beautifully defined citrus fruit laced with crushed stone. The palate is well balanced with good depth and grip, slightly waxy in style, fine acidity with touches of tangerine and orange pith towards the finish. Pale, bright yellow. White peach, menthol and white pepper on the nose, plus a touch of vanillin oak. A tight, subdued Folatières with penetrating rocky minerality; not a floral style. Very backward but has the tactile salty extract to age. Very concentrated and long on the aftertaste. The vines are in the top of the cru, barely 40 meters from Jadot's Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles, notes Barnier.HK$1,070.00 -

(5 Star Wine) Mid lemon yellow, with a concentrated bouquet that has less immediate charm than the Clos de la Garenne. However, there is significant weight on the palate, some yellow plums, while the acidity has an attractive mineral touch. My conclusion is that this Folatières is just very backward. Everything is there to make a great wine, and In the end the more exciting wine of two excellent Pulignys. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: October 2023.HK$6,995.00 -

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a candied patisserie- and vanilla-scented bouquet that is very seductive if a little oaky at the moment, though that should be absorbed with time. The palate is well balanced with a marine influence on the entry. A very saline Les Folatières with much more persistence on the finish compared to the Clos de la Garenne, this is promising (and also one of the only whites from Jadot around 14% abv).HK$6,125.00 -
