The 2020 Château de Camensac has an attractive nose with ample red berry fruit, brown spices, cedar and light earthy aromas. The Merlot is very expressive here (47% of the blend). The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and very well judged acidity. This is classic Haut-Médoc, cool and refined with a saline finish that gets the saliva flowing. One of the best wines from the estate in recent years. Highly recommended.HK$2,950.00 -

The 2022 de Camensac is a very serious wine and also a huge overachiever in its peer group. Vertical and explosive in the glass, the 2022 stains the palate with inky dark fruit. Sage, mint, tobacco, incense and licorice are strands in the wine's gorgeous fabric of aromas and flavors. I especially admire the depth, persistence and overall substance here. Superb.HK$1,280.00 -
Brimming with distinction, Candale 1983, released by the revered Château de Candale, is a quintessential expression of the esteemed Saint-Émilion terroir. Renowned for its meticulous crafting process, the estate's vineyards are deeply rooted in limestone clay soils, gifting the Candale 1983's Merlot dominant blend with unparalleled sophistication. The 1983 vintage, a standout year in Bordeaux, is imbued with lush plum and ripe berry notes harmoniously woven with subtle spices and velvety tannins, culminating in a stylish, sustained finish.
The grapes for Candale 1983 experienced a traditional vinification process in concrete vats, enhancing their natural characters. Post-fermentation, the wine aged in fine-grained, French oak barrels, adding layers of tantalising complexity. Château de Candale, with centuries of winemaking prowess, has respectfully preserved tradition while embracing innovation, producing the Candale 1983 that connoisseurs the world over rightly applaud.

The 2015 Château de Chantegrive is another killer value in 2015 and is based on equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Loaded with notions of caramelized cherries, tobacco, truffle, and a hint of earth, this beauty hits the palate with a ripe, sexy, opulent style carrying polished tannin and plenty of length. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.HK$1,690.00 -
(6x75cl) 2019Decanter (94)
Super expressive on the nose, white peach, pear, lime, apricot and pineapple - smells lively and fresh. Really round and unctuous on the palate, more sombre in terms of outright acidity but this has a lovely, well framed structure with honeyed fruit, quince, apricot and fleshy white peach Certainly a gourmet style, with some hints of bitter lemon too to give nuance and complexity. A great combination of aromatic intensity from the Sauvignon Gris and Semillon with freshness and verve from the Sauvignon Blanc. Charming and characterful. Lovely. One to enjoy now or keep in the cellar to age. A blend of 50% Semillon, 45% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Sauvignon Gris.HK$850.00 -

The 2019 de Côme has quite a tight blackberry and soy tinged nose that doesn't quite match my expectations. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite saline in the mouth but it needs more depth and complexity on the finish.HK$2,295.00 -

The 2014 de Ferrand is bold, powerful and juicy. There is not much subtlety here. Even so, the 2014 packs a real punch and offers plenty of intensity in a bold, rustic style. Black cherry, plum, bittersweet chocolate, cloves, menthol and a generous slathering of oak build into the opulent finish. This is in a powerful, extracted style, but there is enough balance to make the wine well worth seeking out. It would be interesting to see what the wine might taste like with less oak and a gentler approach to vinification. Tasted two times.HK$2,885.00 -

The 2016 de Ferrand is a gorgeous and wonderfully complete wine. Aromatic and yet also deep on the palate, with superb balance, the 2016 is going to be impossible to resist, even in the early going. Sweet red cherry, plum, French oak, rose petal, mint, spice and pomegranate all run through this silky, open-knit Saint-Émilion. There is so much to like in this plush yet understated, classy Saint-Émilion. Tasted two times.HK$3,275.00 -

The 2019 Château De Ferrand is beautiful and one of the finest I've tasted from this château. It's one classy, balanced, elegant 2019 that will evolve for 15+ years.HK$2,410.00 -

The 2020 Château de Ferrand has retained its "breezy" bouquet with upfront, red cherries, raspberry coulis and floral scents; orange zest is hiding in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. As I found previously, it feels a bit rigid and needs more flair on its briny finish. Not bad at all, but I feel this could have been better.HK$2,680.00 -
