Like the Prapò, the 2015 Barolo Ceretta is imposing in the early going. Dense, powerful and impenetrable, the 2015 packs a serious punch. Black cherry, pine, menthol, new leather and licorice add to the wine's brooding feel. Time in bottle should help this unyieldingly tannic Barolo open up, although I am not sure it has enough depth to ever be fully in balance.HK$2,640.00 -
Davide Fregonese Barolo Cerretta 2019 epitomises the elegance and complexity of the Langhe region. Crafted from meticulously selected Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the prestigious Cerretta vineyard, this Barolo reflects Davide Fregonese’s unwavering commitment to quality. Fermented using traditional methods, the wine undergoes an extended maceration period to extract profound tannins and aromatic depth. Matured for 36 months in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and smaller French barriques, Cerretta 2019 develops a harmonious structure with layered flavours of ripe red cherries, tar, and subtle spice notes. The terroir of Cerretta, characterised by calcareous marl soils, imparts a distinctive minerality and finesse to the wine. On the palate, it offers a balanced acidity and persistent finish, indicative of its ageing potential. Davide Fregonese’s Barolo Cerretta 2019 is a quintessential expression of Barolo, suitable for both immediate enjoyment and cellar ageing.

Davide Fregonese's 2015 Barolo Prapò is loaded with personality and character. A Barolo of terrific aromatic depth, complexity and structure, the Prapò has much to offer, once the searing tannins start to soften. Sage, menthol, rose petal, pine, licorice and spice emerge gradually with time in the glass. The 2015 needs time to come together, but there is plenty of substance here.HK$2,790.00 -

Davide Fregonese' s 2017 Barolo Prapò is a powerful, burly wine. A blast of dark cherry, sage, menthol, licorice, game and tobacco hits the palate as this potent, muscular Barolo shows off its Serralunga personality. I would give the 2017 a few years to soften.HK$745.00 -
Davide Fregonese Barolo Prapo 2019 showcases the epitome of Nebbiolo craftsmanship from the esteemed Fregonese estate in La Morra, Barolo. Hand-harvested from meticulously selected vineyards, the grapes undergo precise fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by extended ageing in a blend of French and Hungarian oak barrels. On the palate, it presents a harmonious balance of robust tannins and vibrant acidity, leading to a long, elegant finish. The Davide Fregonese Barolo Prapo 2019 exemplifies the producer’s unwavering dedication to quality and their profound expression of the Piedmontese landscape, making it a distinguished choice for discerning wine connoisseurs. The 2014 de Fieuzal is a bold, racy wine. Sweet red cherry, iron, smoke and tobacco give the wine its distinctive flavor profile. The tannins have softened quite a bit over the last 18 months, which has allowed the fruit to show lovely succulence and creaminess. Drink this juicy Pessac-Leognan now and over the next handful of years. There is plenty to like in this expressive sleeper wine for the vintage. Tasted two times.HK$3,005.00 -

The 2016 de Fieuzal has a detailed, focused bouquet, wonderfully focused and precise, featuring blackberry, cedar and black olive scents. There is a sense of classicism and class here. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins, perfectly pitched acidity and a harmonious, tertiary finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is an outstanding Pessac-Léognan that, before its identity was revealed, I speculated could be Domaine de Chevalier. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.HK$2,980.00 -

Perfumed and elegant, the 2019 de Fieuzal wafts from the glass with aromas of blackberries, licorice, coniferous forest floor and incense. Medium to full-bodied, lively and charming, with a pretty core of fruit, powdery tannin and a saline finish, it's a seamless, vibrant Pessac that—like its white counterpart—reflects the progress this 80-hectare Pessac-Léognan estate is making. It's a sleeper of the vintage.HK$2,775.00 -
