  • Forey Pere & Fils Nuits-Saint-Georges 2022 (12x75cl)

    Burghound (89)

(from Prémeaux fruit in Les Topons, Plantes au Baron and Les Charbonnières). A more floralsuffused nose speaks mostly of a spicy blend of red and dark cherry along with a whiff of the sauvage. There is a bit more size, weight and power to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a lovely texture that isn’t necessarily especially refined though neither is it overtly rustic on the lingering and more structured finale. One to consider.

  • Forey Pere & Fils Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Gaudichots 2016 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (91-94)

(13.3 alcohol; 40% vendange entier; 80% new oak; no frost): Good dark red. A bit redder and more showy in its fruit character and less medicinal on the nose than the Petits Monts. Rounder and sweeter in the mouth, with a palate-saturating flavor of dark cherry confiture. Builds impressively on the ripely tannic back end, with a strong violet note emerging. Very different from the Petits Monts in shape and style: this is rounder while the Petits Monts is more minerally and upright.

  • Forey Pere & Fils Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Gaudichots 2022 (6x75cl)

    Burghound (94)

(from a .30 ha parcel of vines). Elegant, pure and exuberantly spicy aromas are trimmed in both a plenitude of floral elements and enough wood to notice. The gorgeously textured medium weight flavors also exude a prominent bead of minerality on the equally firm, moderately austere and impressively persistent finish that displays focused power. This serious, compact and powerful effort also contrasts a velvety mid-palate with a robust but importantly, not rustic finale. Excellent but note well that this is not a candidate for early drinking.
  • Forey Pere & Fils Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Gaudichots 2023 (3x150cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)

Six barrels made of this rare gem. A bright crimson colour with depth. More oak on the nose. How much magic is here? A great deal I am happy to say, starting with a spectacular richness of royal strawberry fruit with superb tension, a brilliant wine for its energy and structure. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted Dec 2024.
  • Forey Pere & Fils Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Petits Monts 2023 (6x75cl)

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)

Bright purple. So sensual on the nose, a dark fruit still with redder highlights, bursting with energy some fresh red and energised black berry fruit highlights, few tannins though there is a sense of structure and great length. Drink from 2031-2038. Tasted Dec 2024.

(from 10 separate parcels of vines, most of which are located in the lower section of Flagey). Here the expressive and slightly riper nose is spicier still with its markedly floral nose that reflects notes of violet, lavender and rose petal on the black cherry and kirsch nuances. The suave, concentrated and seductively textured middleweight flavors where the velvety mouthfeel contrasts somewhat with the firm, serious and robust finale that exhibits excellent length. This will definitely need time but the quality is impressive for a villages-level wine.

  • Forman Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

Ric Forman's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is all class. The 2016 won't be ready to drink for at least another few years, but it is already super attractive, and also very typical of Ric Forman's style. Lavender, spice, and red cherry run through this wine made in a mid-weight, translucent style that is all class and finesse.
  • Forman Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (96+)

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is silky and elegant, with lovely aromatic presence and impeccable balance. Sweet tobacco, cedar, dried flowers and mint all give this mid-weight Cabernet lovely complexity and nuance. The 2018 has shut down since I tasted it last year, but that is not surprising given the style here. Today, bright acids give the 2018 energy, tension and a good deal of precision. Those qualities should help the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon age well over the coming decades.
