Reserved layers and depth slowly begin to emerge from the 2019 Grattamacco, so it is going to need time in cellar to open and show itself. As it opens in the glass, it reveals attractive dark mineral earth, kirsch, black pepper spice, and balsamic. It is concentrated and compact at this stage, with savory richness, and it displays full and balanced structure, ripe and present tannins, and notes of cassis, cedar, and pine resin. It reveals rich complexity without ever feeling murky, and its energetic tension takes this wine to the next level. Drink 2025-2050.HK$4,065.00 -

A stellar wine, the 2020 Grattamacco is dark, vibrant and nuanced to the core. Black fruit, lavender, spice, leather, menthol and dried herbs infuse the 2020 with tons of character and complexity. Deep yet also wonderfully translucent, the 2020 is one of the most finessed Grattamaccos I can remember tasting. There’s incredible depth and resonance here, not to mention tons of personality.HK$3,060.00 -

The 2021 L'Alberello is a bright red/magenta-colored and is inviting with its fruity profile of candied strawberries, cocoa, sweet herbs, and pressed flowers. The palate is both charming and structured, at first revealing its attractive fruitiness, then showing its noble structure, with angular, defined tannins, a sanguine mineral backbone, and mouthwatering acidity. It demands time but should be an incredible offering from the Grattamacco team. Drink 2026-2050.HK$3,275.00 -

The aromas of the 2008 Vino Rosso Breg can be sensed before the glass even leaves the table, with steeped plums and clove nuances effortlessly rising up. With swirling, this becomes darker and spicy while gaining in volume and depth, unleashing a complex array of ginger and curries before giving way to dusty rose, menthol, red currant and balsam herbs. It washes across the palate like fine silk, seaming to caress all it touches with textural tart cherry and raspberry embellished by lavender and sage. All the while, a staining of fine tannins slowly saturates the senses, yet they are sweet and chalky, creating a well-managed tug of tension that lingers on and on. The Gravner family are genuine masters of Pignolo, from the complexity of fruit to its energy and, finally, its perfectly refined structure. Enjoy the 2008 now with decanting or lose it in the cellar for many years to come. It's a beauty.HK$10,350.00 -

The 2009 Rosso Breg is dark as night, yet it offers a lifting bouquet of crushed black cherries, sage, spiced orange peels and nuances of menthol. It's vividly pure and fruit-forward but balanced throughout, with depths of tart raspberry complemented by violet inner florals and a hint of clove. The tannins are rounded and sweet, offset by a pleasantly bitter twang and a touch of blood orange. Gravner is undoubtedly the master of Pignolo, and this is an utterly harmonious example.HK$4,655.00 -

(12x75cl) 2005Wine Advocate (96)
The 2005 Alice’s Shiraz spent 28 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads. Aromas of smoke, asphalt, meat, game, truffle, and blueberry soar from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied Shiraz is velvety-textured, layered, spicy, and richly fruity. While not quite as riveting as the 2004 edition, it has enough structure to evolve for several years and should drink well through 2025.HK$4,345.00 -
(12x75cl) 2005Wine Advocate (95)
The 2005 Apricot Block Shiraz received the same upbringing as the Alice’s and is a similar glass-coating, opaque purple. An enticing perfume of cedar, scorched earth, pepper, violets, bacon, and blueberry leaps from the glass. A bit more restrained (a mere 15.0% alcohol) than its siblings, it is nevertheless a silky, layered, intensely flavored Shiraz with gobs of fruit and a 60-second finish. It should provide much pleasure from 2012 to 2025.HK$6,980.00 -
(12x75cl) 2004Wine Advocate (99)
The 2004 Shiraz “Creek Block” is near otherworldly. It was sourced from a 66-year-old vineyard with yields of 1.0 tons per acre and aged for 28 months in used American oak. It delivers a super-fragrant nose of smoked meat, bacon, violets, an earthy/truffle element, blackberry, and blueberry muffin. This leads to a full-bodied, voluptuous wine with gobs of spicy, complex blue and black fruit flavors, great balance, and a finish that just won’t quit. This loaded wine can be enjoyed now but will drink well for another 15-20 years.HK$10,310.00 -

The two Roennfeldt Road cuvees, from one of Barossa’s most esteemed addresses, appear to be the finest since the legendary 1998s The 2002 Roennfeldt Road Shiraz was aged in new French oak. Aromas of pain grille, truffle, mineral, violets, blackberry, and blueberry compote are ethereal and lead to a voluptuous, densely layered, succulent, complex Shiraz with 10-15 years of aging potential, This extraordinary effort should drink well through 2040.HK$3,910.00 -
Wine Advocate (98)
The 2005 Roennfeldt Road Shiraz is very deep purple-black in color. It presents and incredible array of pronounced spice, earth, floral and savory aromas: blackberry preserves, dried mulberries, coffee, grilled duck, vanilla, cloves, fenugreek, violets and dried rose petals plus some shavings of dark chocolate. Very full and very rich in the mouth, at 17.5% declared alcohol this is not a wine for the faint hearted. Though youthful it’s already multi-layered and the opulent flesh is well supported by a good backbone of crisp acid and a high level of velvety tannins. The finish is very, very long. This Shiraz has great balance for the alcohol and although the wine leaves a bit of heat in the finish it neither overpowers nor detracts from the layers of complex flavors. Possessing the foundation and stuffing to age, it should drink well from 2014 to 2025+.HK$3,200.00 -
