  • Haut-Brion 2022 (12x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (98+)

A blockbuster of a wine from this château, the 2022 Château Haut-Brion is based on 53.6% Merlot, 35.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Cabernet Franc. It's slightly deeper hued than its sibling, the La Mission Haut-Brion, and brings a slightly firmer, more masculine style in its smoky blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, violet, and tobacco-driven aromas and flavors. As good as it gets on the palate, this sensationally layered, seamless Haut-Brion has medium to full-bodied richness, a sensationally pure, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, building yet polished tannins, and an incredible finish. It deserves at least a decade in the cellar (it's clearly enjoyable even today), and I suspect it will evolve for 50-75 years or more, given its balance, concentration, and structure.

  • Haut-Brisson 2000 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2000

    Wine Advocate (88)

One of Saint-Emilion's most attractive over-performers, Haut-Brisson is generally available for a realistic price. The well-made 2000 offers a deep ruby/purple color as well as sweet black currant and cassis fruit intertwined with fennel and underbrush characteristics. With good ripeness, sweet tannin, and low acidity, it will drink well between now and 2010.
  • Haut-Brisson 2016 (12x75cl)

    James Suckling (94-95)

Soft and velvety wine with blackberry, blueberry and raspberry character. Full body, a dense center palate and a long and pure finish. Another winner.

  • Haut-Brisson 2019 (1x300cl)

Beautiful black cherry, graphite, roasted herb, and cedar pencil notes emerge from the 2019 Château Haut Brisson, an incredibly well-balanced, elegant, finesse-driven Saint-Emilion that brings beautiful richness and depth. It might be the finest wine I've tasted from this estate, and while it already offers pleasure, it will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and cruise for a solid two decades. It's impressive.

  • Haut-Brisson 2021 (6x75cl)

    James Suckling (91-92)

Tiny production here, because of frost in May, but the wine came out nice and clean, with pretty balance and mouth-feel and plenty of dark fruit and spices. Slightly dry on the finish now, but should come around nicely with the elevage.

Another very focused 2023 St.-Emilion with berry, chocolate and earth notes. It’s medium- to full-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a bright, vivid and very long finish. Well-integrated tannins. This is one to watch. 95% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Better than 2022.

  • Haut-Chaigneau 2018 (6x150cl)
    (6x150cl) 2018

    Vinous - Neal Martin (86)

The 2018 Haut-Chaigneau has an attractive nose of dusky black fruit, tobacco and dark plummy scents, plus a hint of dark chocolate in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins on the entry, lacking a bit of depth on the midpalate and showing some wood tannins on the finish. Not bad, but short-term drinking only.
  • Haut-Chaigneau 2019 (12x75cl)
    (12x75cl) 2019

    Vinous - Neal Martin (90-92)

The 2019 Haut-Chaigneau, a Lalande-de-Pomerol under Pascal Chatonnet's umbrella, has a vivacious nose with ample raspberry and blackberry fruit with traces of sous-bois. Fine definition and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with an appealing saline entry and well judged acidity. Maybe it needs a little more length, but there is clearly good winemaking at work on this delightful wine. Very promising.
  • Haut-Chaigneau 2020 (12x37.5cl)
    (12x37.5cl) 2020

    Vinous - Neal Martin (91)

The 2020 Haut-Chaigneau represents a fine Lalande-de-Pomerol. Black plums commingle with leather and pencil lead scents that is well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely sappiness on the entry, impressive depth and commendable balance. That Cabernet Franc imparts an attractive pencil lead tincture on the finish that gives it a Left Bank allure. This has kicked on nicely through its élevage and deserves a higher score than I gave from barrel.
