The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Jouises" Vieilles Vignes is raised in 20% new oak with 50–60% whole bunch. This was quite reduced on the nose and difficult to read. The palate is more open, offering ebullient red fruit, and quite spicy, revealing a liberal sprinkling of black pepper on the finish. Good potential, though it deserves 4–5 years in bottle.HK$2,640.00 -

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jouises is crisp and taut on the nose, clean, brambly red berry fruit, crushed stone and light rose petal scents unfold with each swirl of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, well-integrated oak, good depth with a precise and charming finish. This is a wonderful Village Cru from Heresztyn that comes highly recommended.HK$3,285.00 -
Wine Advocate (89-91)
The 2014 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru les Millandes was picked a little earlier just to keep the acidity from the berries that were affected by millerandage. It has a well defined bouquet with light gravel scents infusing the blackberry and briary fruit. This is very correct but also very composed. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly earthy red berry fruit. There is still some oak to be subsumed, but I think it was a right decision to pick early as the acidity maintains sufficient tension on the slightly foursquare finish.HK$11,165.00 -

Here too there is prominent wood influence framing the slightly higher-toned and marginally more complex aromas of red currant and blackberry fruits aromas that evidence notes of violet and plum. I very much like the sense of precision to the impressively rich and powerful full-bodied flavors that offer good volume and real drive on the sleekly muscled and firmly structured finish where the supporting tannins are slightly finer.HK$6,045.00 -
Wine Advocate (92-94)
Raised in 35% new oak with 55% whole bunch fruit, the 2016 Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru les Millandes has an engaging bouquet with black fruit, wet limestone and sea spray scents. It is beautifully defined and very focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, slightly grainy tannin. There is plenty of smoke-tinged, almost flinty black and red fruit with a very harmonious, quite structured finish that feels persistence and satisfying. This is one of the strongest contributions from Heresztyn-Mazzini.HK$5,605.00 -

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru is another cuvée that includes 100% whole bunch this year. It has a well-defined bouquet, the stemmy element not quite as pronounced as on the Gevrey Champonnet and more integrated with the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, and generous peppery black fruit laced with cedar and white pepper. The grippy finish needs time to abrade its edges. A traditionally cut Morey-Saint-Denis that needs to be consumed with food. Good potential here.HK$4,855.00 -

The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes 1er Cru comes from vines over 70 years old and was cropped at 45hl/ha, the first vineyard to be picked in order to moderate alcohol. Containing 100% whole bunch, it has an intense bouquet of pine-needle-infused red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, and a little tarry toward the finish. Perhaps the most peppery of the domaine’s wines. I can see this aging beautifully.HK$4,135.00 -

Mid cherry red in colour it opens with beautifully seductive aromas. Powerful sweet dark cherry fruit with prominent young oak are lifted by savoury mushroom consommé, and truffle with a dusting of spice. It’s then dry, finely balanced and quite light weight for Otago thanks to that vineyard altitude, yet still carries a powerful core of fleshy, gamey fruits with bright acidity and mouthcoating tannins. The finish is long and strong, with a classic peacock’s tail gaining more floral and spicy complexity as it lingers till the very end. It’s seriously impressive and an outstanding first release. While the West Ridge is a low-vigor site from the magnesium in the clay, the East Ridge is low vigor due to the lack of topsoil in the vineyard. This is also the first vineyard where they practice no-till farming, which they are working toward across the estate. Located on opposite sides of the property, the East Ridge Vineyard has more clay and sandstone soils than the West Ridge and experiences cold temperatures at night. Pouring a darker ruby/red color, the 2021 Pinot Noir East Ridge jumps out of the glass with mineral-tinged aromas of graphite lifted with darker fruit notes of black raspberries and fresh sage. Moving to the palate, it’s muscular in its structure, with a medium to full-bodied frame, ripe tannins, and a long finish. It’s going to need time to soften and unfurl, when it will lean into more umami and savory undertones. Drink 2026-2042.HK$1,060.00 -

The 2021 Pinot Noir West Ridge is the oldest of the reserve-level wines, where the vines are 30+ years old and more influenced by the ocean. It’s more reserved initially on the nose, but as it opens, it reveals notes of framboise, sweet forest earth, cocoa, and violets. Medium-bodied and silky in texture, with fine tannins, even-keeled balance, and noble structure on the long finish, it’s refined and more high-toned, with a weightless feel and notes of fresh cranberry. With great length, fine tannins, and lifted fresh acidity, it’s a wonderful vintage for this wine, which also captures the concentration of the fruit without ever losing its graceful and lifted energy. Silky and aromatic, with understated depth, the 2014 will give readers a good idea of the personality of both the vintage and this site. Picked later than the Gregor but not dried prior to fermentation, it's a well-behaved 14.7% alcohol wine that would be at home on the table alongside a tomahawk ribeye, roast lamb or any long-cooked stew. Full-bodied and intense, it not only shows tremendous complexity—mixing red and dark berries with various herbal nuances and hints of licorice, coffee beans and seared meat—but also boasts a rich, velvety mouthfeel combined with notable drinkability. Although not as raisined or alcoholic as Dal Forno's Amarone, there are similarities in size and structure, with waves of velvety, super ripe fruit and dark chocolate bolstered by softly dusty tannins and mouthwatering acidity on a finish that must be tasted to be believed.
