Vinous (94)
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a complex bouquet of red currant, cranberry, leather and light minty aromas that gather pace in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fresh line of acidity and superb _ mineralité_ on the finish. This comes highly recommended.HK$920.00 -
(1x75cl) 2019Vinous (93-95)
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a crisp, delineated bouquet of mineral-rich blackberry and boysenberry fruit displaying wonderful tension and focus. The palate is tensile right from the start, offering succulent black fruit, a silky-smooth texture and an intense, blood-orange-infused finish. Plenty of energy here. This should turn into a superb Chambolle-Musigny.HK$2,205.00 -

Vinous (91-93)
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru is very pure on the nose, quite intense like the Vieilles Vignes with verging on ostentatious black cherry and cassis fruit, very floral and not shy in the slightest. The palate restores order with some gorgeous red berry fruit, slightly gourmand in style, almost gamey towards the finish that feels very long. Succulent ‘n sexy.HK$3,760.00 -

Vinous (91-93)
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru comes from two barrels and is aged in 25% new oak. This is much more complex and nuanced on the nose than the Vieilles Vignes: very focused with ebullient red fruit laced with violet. The palate is medium-bodied with good density on the entry. It's quite structured for a Chambolle with some firm tannins on the finish, but sufficient fruit keeps it balanced and poised.HK$4,855.00 -
Burghound (90-92)
(from a .63 ha parcel). Liqueur-like aromas include those of black cherry, poached plum and a spicy top note. The sleek, seductive and supple flavors are not especially dense while exuding a subtle minerality that adds a sense of lift to the balanced, dusty and impressively long finale that is presently youthfully austere. This is understated and really quite good.HK$3,590 - HK$4,390

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras was less put together when I tasted it, offering up aromas of juicy cherries, wild berries and subtle grilled meats, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample but inscrutably tight-knit palate. The outlines are promising, but it needs more élevage, so my score is more than usually imprecise.HK$1,090.00 -

Vinous (91-93)
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru is matured in slightly less new oak than the Charmes. It has a very intense, almost flamboyant floral nose, bunches of violets and iris complementing the black cherry and cassis fruit. The palate is well balanced with a very sweet candied core of fruit and touches of menthol and licorice toward the finish. Very fine, although I prefer the noblesse of the Charmes.HK$1,165.00 -
(6x75cl) 2023Burghound (89-92)
(from vines planted in 1987, from a .37 ha holding). A perfumed and attractively elegant nose is comprised by aromas of black raspberry, cherry, soft wood and wet stone. Here too the palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors is supple, seductive and succulent while flashing more evident minerality on the lingering if mildly sweet finish that isn’t really intrusive but I can’t say that it appeals to me. To be fair, it’s quite possible that the sweetness will dissipate in time as the oak treatment is more completely integrated.HK$4,090 - HK$5,000

Vinous (91-93)
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes, from 60 to 80-year old vines, has a powerful bouquet with ebullient dark cherry, violet and cassis notes, a hint of melted chocolate in the background. The palate is well balanced, quite intense with sappy black cherry and boysenberry fruit vying for attention on the finish. You get the feeling this is holding something in reserve so give it 5-6 years in the cellar.HK$845.00 -
(12x75cl) 2022Vinous (89-91)
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from six parcels from around the appellation. There is a touch of reduction on the nose, dark berry fruit mixed with iris flower and a touch of pencil box. A little introspective at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied entry, quite sweet with a lot of sucrosity. Maybe that detracts from its complexity towards the finish, which tapers when you want it to fan out. It's not bad, but it needs to gain some flesh in the coming months.HK$6,665.00 -

Burghound (89-91)
(from Fouchères, Les Mombies, Les Babillières, Nazoires, Les Mal Carrées and Les Chardannes). A ripe and quite fresh array combines notes of black cherry with those of spice and an admirably discreet dollop of wood. The succulent and caressing middle weight flavors possess solid volume before concluding in a robust, powerful and slightly warm finish. This is not really in the mode of a lace and grace Chambolle but does offer fine depth and persistence in an age-worthy package. Worth considering.HK$2,455 - HK$3,000

Jancis Robinson (16)
Mid crimson. Open, fragrant and invitingly red-fruited. Lightish on the mid palate but balanced and juicy with appropriately subtle tannins.HK$3,380.00 -
(6x75cl) 2019Decanter (91)
Blended from a patchwork of 18 different plots, all opposite either Chambolle-Musigny or Gilly-lès-Cîteaux. This shows a bright red berry fruit character, with floral notes, light body and a silky texture. The fruit is destemmed and fermented on native yeasts, before ageing 16 months in used casks.HK$2,600.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89)
In bottle. A cherry to crimson colour. Fine, pleasing, stylish cherry fruit on the nose, cherry to raspberry on the palate, a little tannin to help the structure, but essentially on the fruit, pure and classy. Drink from 2025-2028.HK$2,220.00 -
Wine Advocate (88)
Aromas of sweet berries and cherries introduce the 2023 Bourgogne Rouge, a medium-bodied, pure and supple wine that's bright and succulent. As ever, this is a clean, well-made, dependable Bourgogne that will drink well on release.HK$4,220.00 -
(6x75cl) 2011Vinous (91)
The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a very appealing, harmonious bouquet with ample red cherries, crushed strawberry and subtle undergrowth scents that gain vigor with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, quite sensual entry: red fruit laced with white pepper, blood orange and subtle leafy notes. It gradually unfurls towards the finish maintaining adequate freshness and with a detailed bitter orange-tinged aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted at Flint Wines Burgundy 2011 tasting.HK$11,460.00 -
(6x75cl) 2012Vinous (91-93)
There is so much to like in the 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes. Silky and layered, the 2012 graces the palate with expressive dark red fruit and tons of Chambolle sensuality, all in a hugely attractive, mid-weight style. Pliant and expressive through to the finish, the 2012 should offer a long drinking window of superb drinking.HK$10,615.00 -
(3x75cl) 2018Vinous (90-92)
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru has a pure, pretty bouquet of red cherries, crushed strawberry and orange blossom. The vibrant, fresh palate is elegant and airy, without massive structure or grip. The finish shows good delineation. I suspect this will be more for early drinking, but it is still utterly charming.HK$6,385.00 -
Vinous (87-89)
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru comes across a little reduced on the nose at the moment. Touches of mulch filtering through the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, balanced, slightly bitter and like the Vougeot, just a bit "undernourished" on the finish.HK$9,180.00 -
(6x75cl) 2013Wine Advocate (88-90)
The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Village, which is matured in 20% new oak, has a very harmonious and quite intense bouquet with pure raspberry and wild strawberry scents unfurling. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin: crisp dark berry fruit with black plum and a dash of black spice on the finish. There is impressive length here for a village cru that is compact but focused.HK$5,150.00 -
(3x150cl) 2015Wine Advocate (90-92)
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Village, from the usual 11 parcels, has a tightly controlled red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with veins of dried rose petal. The palate is crisp on the entry with grainy tannin, beautifully balanced with a poised, winsome finish and a saline aftertaste. It eschews the usual heaviness that can pervade Chambolle premier crus this vintage with a sense of precision. This comes recommended.HK$5,430.00 -
(1x75cl) 2016Burghound (89-91)
There is enough reduction to push the fruit to the background though it appears ripe. Otherwise there is a lovely vibrancy to the lacy and intense flavors that possess a polished mouthfeel thanks to the relatively fine-grained tannins, all wrapped in a serious and mineral-driven finale. Lovely.HK$1,050.00 -
(6x75cl) 2018Jancis Robinson (16.5)
Deepish cherry red. Smells riper and richer than the Bourgogne and with intense and seductive red fruit, subtly floral and so open. Not especially long but delicious in its fragrant and open Chambolle character.HK$4,930.00
