Fantastic. Dark ruby color with hints of purple. Glorious aromas of blackberry, tobacco, cedar and slightly wet earth. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and a fabulous finish. This is subtle and refined. Wonderful length. Tasted side by side with the 2000 Pétrus, it is clearly better. Today, I give it two points higher than previous tastings. Perfection.--Pétrus non-blind vertical. Best after 2012.HK$37,740.00 -

Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of cherry, earth, minerals and nutty oak. Supple, smooth and fat, but with some edgy acidity yet to be absorbed. Lacks the dimension of the young 2004, but finishes with reasonably sweet tannins.HK$1,745.00 -

Crushed blackberries and plums with hints of fresh mushrooms and violets. Very complex indeed. Full-bodied, with silky and refined tannins. This is a very rich and broad-shouldered Pétrus. Brawny. I am interested to see how it develops in barrel. Will it be better than 1998 or 2000? Score range: 95-100HK$17,970.00 -

A lovely example of just how pitch-perfect this vintage is now, with caressing raspberry and plum confiture flavors allied to an impressive structure, albeit smaller-scaled than '01, '00 and other denser years. Refined through the finish, with a fine gilding of warm tobacco and black tea notes. Pretty irresistible now and should cruise nicely for a while.--Non-blind La Fleur-Pétrus vertical (December 2015). Drink now through 2030. 3,500 cases made.HK$21,290.00 -

A sleeping giant. Dark ruby in color, showing aromas of blackberry, cèpe and green olive, with a hint of mineral. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a supercaressing mouthfeel. Turns to coffee, dark chocolate and berry. Chewy yet balanced. Very, very long in the mouth. The finish is absolutely breathtaking. Best after 2013. -JSHK$2,695.00 -

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 La Fleur Petrus has been an impressive Pomerol in recent showings. This one does nothing to alter that view. It has plenty of energy on the nose with great delineation: cranberry, pomegranate, singed leather and a touch of melted tar, firmly moving into secondary territory. The palate is medium-bodied with good structure, still quite tight but with a keen line of acidity and plenty of truffle-infused, black, dusky fruit on the finish. Great wine in an off-vintage. Tasted February 2017.HK$15,720.00 -

A major sleeper of the vintage, the 2008 La Fleur Petrus (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) is a remarkably sexy, opulent wine that transcends the vintage character. Its dense plum/ruby/purple color is accompanied by notes of sweet black cherries, licorice, truffles and a hint of graphite. Full-bodied with silky tannin as well as undeniable appeal, richness, purity and a 40+ second finish, this is a sure-fire big buy in 2008. Drink it over the next 20+ years.HK$23,985.00 -
The Wine Cellar Insider (98)
This just keeps getting better and better. Splash decanted, this was a rockstar from the start. But 30 minutes later and it was really off to the races. The decadent texture is a show stopper. The fruit is polished velvet. There is a purity and symmetry to the wine that is impossible to miss. As it developed, notes of lilac, violets and chocolate emerged. And as hard as it is to believe, the wine gained in opulence. If you are a fan of Pomerol at its most decadent, and if you have the coin to spare, this is a future legend waiting in the wings.HK$12,970.00 -
James Suckling (98-99)
What a complex nose of dark fruits, truffles and wet earth. Fascinating. Full, yet super long with ultra refined tannins and a long, long finish. It is tannic and muscular but polished and reserved. It's a wine with refinement and power.HK$12,355.00 -

Very restrained today, with singed balsa wood and incense notes that lend a perfumy edge. The core of dark plum and red currant fruit waits in reserve, while hints of alder and mesquite grace the finish. This should deliver some wonderful aromatics when the fruit fills out and meshes with the structure. Drink now through 2017. 4,125 cases made. -JMHK$1,415.00 -

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2012 La Fleur-Petrus is a stunning Pomerol that’s certainly up in the top tier of the vintage. Incredibly perfumed and floral, with notions of black cherries, raspberries, dried flowers, forest floor, saddle leather, and cedar, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful balance, ripe tannin, and an ethereal, elegant texture that carries ample flavor authority with no sensation of weight. Drink this incredibly fine, elegant, and nuanced beauty any time over the coming three decades.HK$9,415.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-94)
One of the true stand outs of the vintage, the 2013 La Fleur-Pétrus is superb. Graphite, violets, lavender, savory herbs, smoke and purplish fruit all meld together in a wine of incomparable grace. The La Fleur-Pétrus impresses for its textural elegance, volume and sheer class. It is without question one of the wines of the year. These pebbly, well-draining soils handled the vintage as well as could have been expected.HK$1,415.00 -

The 2014 Lafleur-Pétrus is a wine of translucence and total finesse. Deep and rich, yet also light on its feet, the 2014 Lafleur-Pétrus is one of the most distinctive wines of the vintage for the way in which it brings together intensity and elegance, all with an unmistakably understated personality. Bright aromatic top notes add to the wine’s open-knit bouquet and overall feeling of sensuality. A considerable amount of Cabernet Franc character comes through, even if Franc is only 7 % of the blend. All the elements are in the right place. In 2014, Lafleur-Pétrus is 93 % Merlot and 7 % Cabernet Franc.HK$7,515.00 -

Wow. The blackberry, dried-flower and orange-peel aromas are so impressive at first, but then they go to black truffle and wet earth. Full-bodied with a solid core of powerful yet fine-grained tannins. It goes on for minutes. A very muscular La Fleur-Pétrus. Drink after 2025.HK$11,200.00
