The 2016 Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion comes from vines located in the clos over towards Martillac, rather than the vines in the original Les Carmes Haut-Brion vineyard in the Bordeaux suburbs, known as Le Clos des Carmes Haut-Brion up until the 2013 vintage. It is a blend of 51% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvigon and 1% Petit Verdot, matured in 30% new oak and the remainder one year old barrels. This includes 25% whole berry fruit. It offers plenty of brambly black fruit on the nose, crushed violets, fresh fig and a touch of spice that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, neatly integrated oak, a little plushness on the entry thanks to the Merlot, and then it dovetails into a more structured, gently grippy, chalk-textured finish with attractive black fruit. Give this two or three years in bottle just to shave off a little abrasiveness and you will have a fine Pessac-Léognan.HK$2,100.00 -
The Wine Cellar Insider (90-92)
Plump, sugar-laced black fruit, boysenberry, licorice, campfire smoke and barbecue essence get things underway. Quicky the sassy tannins kick in, shepherding you to a chic, fresh, tobacco infused, fruit-filled core. Using 30% whole bunches in the vinification, the wine was made from 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, reaching 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.72. The harvest took place September 19 to October 3 and, sadly, close to 25% of the vines were damaged by frost.HK$1,765.00 -

Decanter (96)
Beautiful fragrance to the nose, perfumed and delicate yet so expressive, nothing out of balance with cherries and violets bursting out of the glass. Gorgeous smooth mouthfeel with some milk chocolate dusting on the fruit, tannins are delicate and softly mouth filling with a lovely salinity to the palate - creamy and unctuous but at the same time there's lots of acidity. This has a verticality to it, layered but with an aerial quality too, the flavours just glide across the palate with lift on the finish - so satisfying and drinkable. Just a glorious, shining, bright, velvety, succulent glass of wine. Pure elegance. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, 3.55pH.HK$1,390.00 -
Wine Advocate (94)
Bottled after 24 months' élevage, much of which took place in large foudres, the 2020 Le C des Carmes Haut-Brion offers up aromas of dark berries, plums and spices complemented by hints of rose petal and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, supple and pillowy, with an ample core of fruit framed by melting tannins, it's a suave and charming blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot.HK$2,145.00 -
James Suckling (94)
Fresh and racy, with beautiful cherries, dried orange peels, peppercorn and spices. It’s so vibrant and agile on the palate, with medium body and crunchy, lively tannins. Juicy and tense. Firm but very fine and silky in the end. 62% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot and 2% petit verdot. Already attractive, but better after a year or two.HK$140 - HK$160

Deep, chalky notes intermixed with black fruits, camphor, and an almost ethereal floral note make for a full-bodied wine that has slightly more austerity than Laforge or Teyssier (two other wines from the same team), but considerable style and nobility. In addition, it is substantial, powerful and capable of 20 years of longevity.HK$5,075.00 -
(6x75cl) 2019Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)
Just as it was en primeur, the 2019 Le Carré is a wild, virile wine. The Cabernet Franc is again incredibly assertive, with strong savory and feral notes that lend quite a bit of character. Scorched earth, tobacco,, iron and smoke are laced throughout a core of black fruit. Le Carré is not exactly subtle in 2019, but it sure had a lot to offer. It is one of the more imposing wines in Jonathan Maltus's range.HK$2,735.00 -

The 2015 Le Chiuse Brunello is layered with black cherry, leather, sage, and forest floor. The palate is full-bodied and fruit-forward, with fresh fig, tomato leaf, warming amaro spice, and dark-mineral earth. Its structure is generous with ripe tannin and fresh acidity and does not feel weighed down by the warmth of the vintage. Another incredible, classic, and savory wine from the Le Chiuse estate worthy of enjoyment over many years. 2023-2040.HK$4,505.00 -

The palate is fresh with black cherry fruit, tea leaf, orange peel, and mineral-rich, stony earth. There is well-integrated structure, with crispness, fresh acidity, and a beautifully long finish. This is one of my favorite wines of the vintage for its classic structure, high complexity, and nuanced, balanced style.HK$8,105.00 -

The gorgeous, fragrant Le Chiuse 2019 Brunello sets a benchmark for Sangiovese and Montalcino. Another stellar wine from this dynamic, leading winery, the nose alone stopped me in my tracks, thanks to the intensity and refinement of its blue flower, rose, camphor, truffle and cake spice scents. Elegantly structured, loaded with energy and utterly delicious, the captivating palate doles out ripe raspberry, crushed cherry, licorice and cinnamon framed in firm but ultra-refined tannins. Bright acidity provides plenty of tension and an age-worthy structure. A truly mesmerizing wine. Abv: 14%.HK$3,695.00 -

The 2019 Rosso di Montalcino wafts up with a pretty display of dusty dried florals, hints of oregano, wild strawberries and crushed stone. This fills the palate with silky textures and ripe raspberry fruits, energized by brilliant acidity; and it becomes quite spicy toward the close, coating the senses in primary concentrations. Juicy and fun, this highly enjoyable Rosso is for earlier consumption and is showing beautifully.HK$1,520.00 -

In 1991 Luca and Valeria Orsini left their jobs in Milan to make wine in Tuscany. Their estate includes 10 hectares of southeast facing vineyards in Panzano and the wines have been certified organic from 2000. A standout 2016 annata, this is discreet with understated scents of cherry blossom, heather and rose. The palate is decidedly red fruited with currants and raspberry embraced by finely textured, powdery persistent tannins. It has beautiful energy and above all allows Sangiovese's true charms to shine through.HK$1,055.00 -
Jancis Robinson (17.5)
Panzano in Chianti. 100% Sangiovese grown at 450 m above sea level. Spontaneous fermentation in concrete tanks and aged in large oak casks. Lustrous, youthful crimson. Deep dark and minerally cherry nose with hints of raspberries. Compact tangy cherry and raspberry fruit that really deepens on the palate while keeping its nervy intensity. Coating tannins complement the whole.HK$900.00 -
Decanter (93)
Le Cinciole’s annata is a perennial overperformer and the 2019 shouldn’t be missed. Despite long ageing before release – first in cask, then concrete, and finally in bottle, it takes time to come out of its shell. Seductive truffle and forest floor slowly waft from the glass then give way to scented lavender, sage and dark red cherry. It flows effortlessly and energetically across the palate, with nervy, citrussy acidity providing the backbone. Chalky tannins are in the background making for an elegant frame.HK$950.00 -
Vinous (92)
The 2021 Chianti Classico is a fabulous introduction to this range from Le Cinciole. Brisk acids and veins of tannin give the 2021 its shape and plenty of overall energy. Expressive floral and savory overtones lend tons of character. The 2021 was vinified in cement and aged in cask for a year, followed by a year in cement. This mid-weight Chianti Classico is a winner.HK$1,310.00 -
Vinous (94)
Le Cinciole's 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Aluigi is powerful and explosive in the glass. The 2015 will benefit from time to come together, but it sure is impressive today. A rush of ripe red fruit, menthol, white pepper, iron, sage, rose petal and dried flowers all race across the palate. The 2015 is dense, tannic and full of character.HK$1,850.00
