The 2018 Les Perrières de Lafleur comes from a massal selection of vines from Château Lafleur planted on the clay and limestone soils in Fronsac. Based on 51% Cabernet Franc and 49% Merlot aged 15 months in one-third new French oak, it has a stately, regal style offering medium to full-bodied richness, notes of blackcurrant, black cherries, graphite, chalky minerality, white truffle, and violets, a broad, expansive mouthfeel, and building tannins. It shares a similar elegance and seamlessness with its Pomerol counterpoint, yet the high percentage of Cabernet Franc and different terroir give it a style all its own. It's a beautiful wine that needs 2-4 years of bottle age and will evolve for 15+ years. As I wrote after tasting it from barrel, if you find a bottle, you should buy it!HK$1,710.00 -

The 2019 Les Perrières, is driven by strong Franc inflections. Mocha, dried flowers, lavender, rose petal and spice lend gorgeous aromatic intensity throughout. Clean veins of saline minerality from these limestone-rich soils give the 2019 a real sense of energy that is absolutely compelling. This is such a gorgeous wine. I would give the 2019 a few years to come together.HK$860.00 -

(1x75cl) 2020Vinous - Neal Martin (91)
The 2020 Les Perrières de Lafleur is more backward than the 2019 with blackberry and light estuarine scents plus a dab of shucked oyster shell in the background. The palate is beautifully balanced, gentle but firm in terms of grip, with wonderful poise and density on the finish. This will probably require longer in bottle than the previous vintage, but it will reward the patient. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria.HK$820.00 -

Wine Advocate (94)
The cooler vintage has lent the 2021 Les Perrières de Lafleur an even greater sense of transparency than preceding vintages, even if this bottling has always had a remarkably pronounced site signature. Unfurling in the glass with deep aromas of raspberries, plums, Indian spices, burning embers and licorice, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and an intensely mineral finish.HK$4,120.00 -
(12x75cl) 2008Emanating from the prestigious winegrowing region of Bordeaux, Les Songes de Magdelaine 2008 is a luxurious testimony to the superior craftsmanship of the revered producer Chateau Magdelaine. As a vaunted St-Emilion Grand Cru, this vintage eloquently embodies the unique terroir character with its stunning merlot concentration. The delicate vinification process entailed traditional fermentation in epoxy-lined concrete tanks, followed by a judicious ageing in scene-stealing 50% new French oak barrels.
Les Songes de Magdelaine 2008 features an alluring profile with profound notes of black fruits, coupled with subtle undertones of earth, spice, and smoky cedar. On the palate, it tantalises with exquisite balance, an entrancing medium-body, and a profoundly lingering finish. This wine indeed encapsulates 'Les Songes' - the dreams - of the meticulous winemakers who devotedly tread the renowned pebbly soils of the Magdelaine estate over a decade ago. Exquisite, evocative, and enticing, Les Songes de Magdelaine 2008 is more than a wine; it's a narrative in a bottle.

(6x75cl) 2015Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90)
The 2015 Les Trois Croix is gorgeous. Inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mint, cloves and licorice build as this racy, voluptuous Fronsac shows off its soft curves and enveloping personality. All the elements simply fall into place in this delicious, alluring wine from Patrick Léon. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Tasted two times.HK$1,055.00 -
(12x75cl) 2019Vinous - Neal Martin (93)
The 2019 Les Trois Croix has a beautifully defined bouquet of brambly red fruit laced with pencil lead and woodland aromas, billowing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that disguise the backbone of this Fronsac, but the freshness is obvious on the finish. Superb.HK$1,860.00 -

The 2020 Les Trois Croix has maintained a wonderful bouquet with bright blackberry and wild strawberry scents, hints of cedar and graphite emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, very well-judged acidity, taut and crisp with a slightly granular, graphite-tinged finish that gives it Pauillac-like allure. Superb.HK$1,860.00 -

The 2021 Les Trois Croix is much more subdued compared to recent vintages that I have tasted at this stage. The palate is chewy on the entry, quite concentrated and muscular with a saline finish. It has power yet just misses the finesse of recent high-performing vintages.HK$1,255.00 -

Good dark red. Aromas of cassis, licorice and coffee, lifted by a graphite note. Fragrant and silky, with strong blackcurrant, herb and coffee notes. Substantial, late-arriving tannins give grip to the finish, but I still feel that this wine will provide enjoyable drinking in the near term and will not be for extended aging.HK$1,305.00 -

The 2013 Lespault-Martillac is striking. Freshly cut flowers, violets, crushed rocks, plums and graphite all burst from the glass in a vibrant yet juicy wine loaded with class and personality. The 2013 is absolutely crystalline in its beauty. It is also easily one of the best wines of the vintage in its class. Readers who enjoy vibrant, mineral-driven reds will adore the Lespault-Martillac in this vintage. The 2013 is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon.HK$1,185.00 -
James Suckling (92-93)
Rich and round with all the merlot giving a bounty of fruit and earth yet in a reserved way. Full-bodied, juicy and savory. Long finish.HK$1,530.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)
The 2017 Lespault-Martillac is a gorgeous, understated wine, just as it was en primeur. Bright, floral and understated, the 2017 is impeccable from start to finish. Once again, the purity of the red-toned fruit is really compelling. The Lespault-Martillac is not obvious or overt wine, but instead it makes its case with a total sense of refinement. It is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage.HK$1,410.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (92)
The 2018 Lespault-Martillac is bright, punchy and full of character. I tasted the 2018 three times from barrel and never found it convincing. The bottled wine, on the other hand, is terrific. Inky red fruit, blood orange, spice, mint and rose petal all open with time. The 2018 is not super complex, but it is silky, well-balanced and very easy to enjoy. Best of all, readers can enjoy it with minimal cellaring.HK$1,290.00 -
(6x75cl) 2019Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)
The 2019 Lespault-Martillac is plump, juicy and quite seductive. Sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint, spice, licorice, anise and citrus. The supple, creamy finish makes this a very pretty wine. This bold, punchy Pessac-Léognan is very easy to like. Tasted two times.HK$1,040.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-93)
The 2020 Lespault-Martillac is plump, juicy and wonderfully expressive. Ripe red cherry/red plum, orange zest cinnamon and crushed flowers fill out the layers in a succulent, vibrant Lespault that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2020 is a wine of total allure.HK$1,110.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)
The 2021 Lespault-Martillac is packed with inky red/purplish fruit, spice and mocha. There's more Cabernet Sauvignon than usual in this year's blend, and that comes through in the wine's aromatic profile. The 2021 is not super complex, but it is supremely delicious and very easy to like.HK$1,180.00
