(1x150cl) 2021Jeb Dunnuck (91)
Inky purple in color, the 2021 Barbera D'Alba is a serious and deep wine with aromas of plum, black licorice, lavender, and smoky cedar. Medium-bodied, it fills the palate with plush tannins, even acidity, a weightless feel, and a touch of warmth on the finish. It’s going to improve if given a chance to rest another year, but it will provide prime drinking over the next 5-6 years.HK$535.00 -
Jeb Dunnuck (91)
The 2022 Barbera D'Alba offers a more luxurious, oak-spiced profile in its notes of toasted cedar, baked plum, vanilla beans, and violets. Full-bodied, plush, ripe, and long, it’s going to take time to integrate. Give it at least another year or two and drink over the following 6-8 years. A robust and warming wine, this is a solid entry for Cab drinkers.HK$1,380.00 -

Luciano Sandrone’s 1985 Barolo Cannubi Boschis blossoms on the palate with expressive aromatics and layers of fruit, both supported by silky tannins. An early masterpiece from Sandrone, the 1985 is peaking today. I don’t imagine it will improve much from here, but it is stunning right now.HK$35,340.00 -
(1x150cl) 2007Vinous (97)
The 2007 Barolo Cannubi Boschis dazzles from start to finish. It shows marvelous delineation and freshness in its volumptuos, harmonious fruit, with no hard edges and an expansive, textured personality that conquers both the palate and intellect. Here, too, the oak is very well integrated, while the wine's balance and overall sense of harmony are nothing short of stunning. This is one of the very finest vintages of Cannubi Boschis.HK$3,900.00 -
(3x150cl) 2010Vinous (97)
The 2010 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is just starting to show the first signs of aromatic maturity. Dark and dense on the palate, the 2010 remains massively tannic in feel, though. Tasting the 2010 next to the current releases shows the style prevalent at the time that favored more overt fruit, greater extraction and heavier oak signatures. Black cherry, espresso, chocolate, menthol and dried flowers all develop as the 2010 opens up with time in the glass. This is dark, virile and powerful in style; I would wait a few years, as it is going through a phase of closure today.HK$9,280.00 -
Vinous (95)
The 2011 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is super impressive. Early signs of aromatic nuance have started to develop, but just barely. More than anything else, the 2011 impresses for its body and pure depth, both of which the 2011 has in spades. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and spice all build as this dramatic Barolo shows off its allure. The 2011 has aged beautifully. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade. This is a re-release from the winery.HK$2,735.00 -
Vinous (97+)
The 2013 Barolo Aleste is a wine of striking purity and nuance. It is also one of the most finessed, vivid young Barolos I have ever tasted from Sandrone. The translucence of Nebbiolo comes through loud and clear. Freshly cut flowers, mint and finely cut fruit are some of the signatures. This wine has developed beautifully in recent vintages as the oak influence is less than it was just a few years ago. Beams of tannin and bright, salivating acidity add finesse to this translucent, exceptional Barolo. Aleste is the new name Sandrone is using for the Barolo formerly known as Cannubi Boschis.HK$7,160.00 -

This is the second year Aleste is produced instead of Cannubi Boschis, however the grapes are exactly the same. The 2014 Barolo Aleste is named after Luciano Sandrone's grandchildren Alessia and Stefano. The 2014 is still wound up and will require extra time to find its footing. The Sandrone family lost 25% of their fruit production in this challenging harvest. The wine offers fragrant notes of wild cherry and cassis with smoke, crushed stone and candied orange peel. The tannins are firm and textured. It is the palate (more than the nose) that requires more time to soften.HK$1,830.00 -

The 2015 Barolo Aleste was also tasted at the estate alongside the 2021 vintage and is an incredible wine at this moment. While I occasionally find some wines from 2015 to be heavier than I prefer, this one showcases fantastic balance in its depth and expressive personality. It reveals raspberry, cherry liqueur, fresh leather, porcini, sweet spice, and tobacco aromas. The palate is expansive, awakens the senses, and possesses profound depth as well as freshness, making it an excellent choice to enjoy now or over the next 15 years.HK$4,365.00 -
(1x150cl) 2016Wine Advocate (98)
The Luciano Sandrone 2016 Barolo Aleste is a very special wine for several reasons. First, we get that exceedingly smooth and seamless quality that we saw in many of the other new releases in this portfolio. This trait sums up the house style. Second, this vintage delivers impeccable intensity that transcends the various fruit, spice, earthy and ethereal components of the bouquet. That equal intensity spread across all parts of the wine is what creates those beautiful transitions. The wine is layered and rich in terms of mouthfeel with a long, fruit and spice-driven finish. The tannins are tucked in at the back, surrounded amply by the wine's textural richness and fruit weight.HK$4,120.00 -

Aromas of menthol, pressed rose, wild berry and grilled herb are front and center in this stunning wine along with a whiff of forest floor. Combining structure and finesse, the savory, full-bodied palate delivers juicy Marasca cherry, blood orange and licorice before an espresso finish. Firm, refined tannins provide tight support.HK$1,465.00 -

Falstaff (97)
Bright, radiant ruby. On the nose there is great expression, notes of ripe raspberry, some rose hip, also reminiscent of wild strawberry, in addition noble leather and cigar box, reminiscent of graphite in the aftertaste. On the palate it is juicy and precise, opens with tension and tightly woven tannins, swings along finely.HK$1,465.00 -

A brighter medium red color, the 2019 Barolo Aleste has a great nose, with notes of bright ripe cherries, licorice lift, mint, and toasted cedar. It brings forward a lot of tension and nervous energy on the palate, with coiled ripe tannins, a rich, chalky texture, great mouthwatering acidity, and a long finish. It demands to be cellared but can be enjoyed 2026-2056.HK$7,755.00 -
Jeb Dunnuck (94)
A deeper brick color, the 2020 Barolo Aleste is also darker and more introspective on the nose, with notes of fresh leather, baked cherries, dark stones, and umami richness in its hint of porcini. It expands on the palate, with ripe, broad tannins, good freshness, a rich texture, and a long finish. Although it’s a riper wine, it’s going to age gracefully over the coming 15-20 years.HK$1,570.00 -

Released ten years after the harvest, the 2007 Barolo Cannubi Boschis Sibi et Paucis is drop-dead gorgeous. This is an exciting and seductive wine that wins you over with the first sniff. The Sandrone family recently completed construction to enlarge the winery with a special room for storing bottles from the Sibi et Paucis series that is held apart for an additional ten years of bottle aging. This wine peels back into thick and velvety layers that hit the palate with divine flavor intensity. There is no way to exaggerate how beautifully this wine has come together in unity and purpose over the past decade.HK$4,045.00 -

Luciano Sandrone’s 2001 Barolo Le Vigne is fresh, vibrant and totally impeccable. Flowers, mint, minerals and juicy red berries are some of the many nuances that come to life in the 2001 Le Vigne. The wine gains volume and shape with time in the glass. Seemingly endless layers of fruit flesh out on the mid-palate and finish. Hints of leather, spices, licorice and flowers add further complexity on the close. This is a fabulous showing from Luciano Sandrone. Although Sandrone’s Cannubi Boschis gets most of the attention, the reality is that in many vintages Le Vigne is very much its equal. The ability to blend fruit from several parcels, an approach rarely used today, has plenty of merits. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2021.HK$12,150.00 -

All of the power and concentration of the year come through loud and clear in the 2006 Barolo Le Vigne. Dark, virile and incredibly intense, the 2006 is an imposing Barolo that still needs time to be at its best. Hints of rose petal, spice and dark red/purplish fruit open up in the glass, but only reluctantly. Readers need to be patient. With a bit of air, the 2006 shows off its notable breath and resonance. I am confident all the rest will come in a few years' time.HK$6,990.00 -
James Suckling (96)
Blueberries, flowers and raspberries on the nose. Full bodied, with velvety tannins and a long caressing finish. Lots of toasted oak. Impressive intensity and richness to this. Best after 2015. But so wonderful now.HK$7,095.00 -

A model of finesse and understatement, the 2008 Barolo Le Vigne is every bit as thrilling as it has always been. At nearly 10 years of age, the 2008 is still bright, precise and very fresh. Sweet red cherry, rose petal and mint notes are beautifully sketched in a Barolo that is pure and total class. In 2008, vineyard sources are Vignane, Merli, Ceretta and Conterni.HK$5,130.00
