This exceptional offering hails from Bercher Burkheimer, a prestigious German estate renowned for its formidable history dating back to 1756. Nestled in the heart of the renowned Kaiserstuhl region in Baden, the estate prides itself on its meticulous winemaking methods that marry tradition with innovation. Bercher Burkheimer Spatburgunder 2018, meticulously crafted from handpicked Pinot Noir grapes, is a remarkable variant of Spatburgunder. Barrels of French oak imbue a subtle, smoky richness whilst preserving the wine's original elegance and fruitiness. The result? A light and delicate Novelle Monde wine with vibrant strawberry and blackberry undertones. The 2021 Pinot Noir The Bergström Vineyard is dark and brooding, enticing with a meaty blend of savory black cherry and cedar shavings complicated by flowery underbrush and a lifting hint of camphor. This is texturally thrilling, with ripe wild berry fruit depths guided by brisk acidity, taking on a saline edge and hints of licorice toward the close. It's potent and long with gritty tannins. The 2022 Pinot Noir Le Pre Du Col Vineyard comes from a site with three different soil types and more shale and shallow soils. It shows off a pristine but more savory profile, with notes of mossy forest floor, preserved red cherries, and crushed flowers. It has a good bit of mineral texture, with slightly broader shoulders but a chiseled feel, and it’s mouthwatering and fresh, with great underlying, fantastic, balanced length. Wine Advocate (96)
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is built from completely different sources. Sixty-six percent came from the St. Helena Home Ranch, 18% from the Chabot Vineyard, and the rest from Beringer’s estates in St. Helena, Rutherford and Coombsville. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that came in at 14.6% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.8. Perhaps the greatest Beringer Private Reserve since the 2007, 2005, 2002 and 2001, the 2010 offers up notes of lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, subtle smoke, wet rocks and background oak. One of the great efforts of recent years, and not surprisingly so, is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve, a blend of 81% from Howell Mountain, 11% from St. Helena and the rest Calistoga and Mount Veeder. It is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot aged 20 months in 84% new French oak. At 15.2% natural alcohol, this is a big boy, but also classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with crème de cassis, graphite, licorice, and a touch of spicy oak. Winemaker Laurie Hook, who has since departed as winemaker, really hit a home run with this beauty. The wine could benefit from 7-10 years cellaring and probably last 30 to 40. When all is said and done, this is an instant classic, the wine full-bodied with oodles of crème de cassis, pen ink, graphite and baking spices. It is multi-dimensional, layered, and one of the all-time great Beringer Private Reserves – and there have been many.HK$9,865.00 -

A richer, darker-fruited wine than its big brother Canon, the 2022 Château Berliquet comes from slightly more clay soils and is always a bigger, broader wine, especially when compared to Canon and its neighbors on the upper plateau. It offers more currant and black cherry fruit as well as scorched earth, chocolate, and truffly aromas and flavors that gain persistence and intensity with time in the glass. These carry to a rich, full-bodied Saint-Emilion that has a beautifully layered mouthfeel, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great finish. The level of purity and precision here is exceptional. The 2022 is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, from a mix of clay and limestone soils on the upper plateau, that spent 16 months in 44% new French oak, with 8% in amphora. A blend of 59% Merlot and 41% Cabernet Franc, the 2023 Berliquet has a pH of 3.53 and it is ageing in 10% amphorae and 90% oak barriques, of which 34% are new. It has a deep garnet-purple color and it hops from the glass with fragrant notes of wild blueberries, plum preserves, and kirsch, followed by hints of lilacs, fragrant soil, and cardamom.
