Wine Advocate (89)The aromatically complex, medium to full-bodied, dark garnet-colored 1998 Barbaresco Bricco Asili-Bricco Asili offers intense aromas of soy, black cherries, tobacco, spice box, licorice, and incense. With ripe but noticeable tannin and excellent length, this potentially outstanding Barolo needs several more years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2014. |

Vinous (92): Bright medium red. Redcurrant, minerals, graphite, licorice and tobacco on the nose. A step up in depth, sweetness and intensity from the Bernadot, with more volume and a serious spine for aging. This mounts nicely on the back end and finishes with very good flavor impact and energy. |

Vinous (85)Ceretto's 2013 Barbaresco Asili is marked by a high level of volatile acidity that totally masks the fruit. This is a perplexing wine that I have a hard time reconciling with the Ceretto style. |

Vinous (95+)Ceretto's 2016 Barbaresco Asili is another stunningly beautiful wine from Ceretto. Here, too, the wine's energy and tension are simply dazzling. Bright red cherry fruit and floral overtones abound in this taut, crystalline Barbaresco. Readers will have to be patient with the 2016, but it is a jewel of a wine. Deceptively in its mid-weight structure, the 2016 packs a serious punch and really sizzles with vibrancy. |

Wine Advocate (95)Ceretto enjoys a long and close relationship with the Asili cru of Barbaresco. The winery has chosen to fermented these grapes apart since the early 1970s. Their 2017 Barbaresco Asili brings you close to a sense of place. Fruit comes from a 1.3-hectare site with classic Sant'Agata marl soils. Beyond the dark fruit, much of the bouquet recalls crushed stone and iron rust, with other territory-specific aromas that are characteristic of Nebbiolo in its most naked state. You feel a touch of earthiness too, thanks to those slightly looser, open-knit tannins. Shaved truffle, dried blackberry and pressed rose seal the deal. |

Vinous (94)The 2018 Barbaresco Asili presents terrific energy and verve. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, mint, blood orange, dried flowers and incense are beautifully delineated throughout. In 2018, the Asili is wonderfully translucent and classy. I can't wait to see how it ages. |

Vinous (95)The 2019 Barbaresco Asili is ample, creamy and resonant. All the signatures of this site come through in a Barbaresco of breadth and resonance. Even so, the 2019 remains light on its feet. There is plenty of depth and persistence, but it is expressed in more of an understated manner. It's a beautiful wine. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The medium ruby 2022 Pinot Noir Cuvee Annabelle comes from a very exposed site along the West Sonoma Coast and boasts a fantastic and spicy nose of gravelly rich earth, Asian spice, cranberries, cinnamon, and bergamot. The palate is packed with tension and salty freshness, with a muscular structure and a great finish. Never mistake its power for being heavy, as there is outstanding linear energy and a delicate warmth on the long finish. Drink over the next 15 years. |

Vinous (94)The 2018 Pinot Noir Rivina, a new offering in this range, is rich and wonderfully fleshy. A burst of sweet red/purplish berry fruit makes a strong first impression in a bold yet mid-weight Sonoma Coast Pinot that offers tons of immediacy and pure pleasure. Best of all, the Rivina can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Ceritas sources grapes from the Red Car Estate in Fort Ross-Seaview for this wine. It will be interesting to see where the Rivina goes in coming years. There is a feeling of density that is super intriguing. |

Vinous (95)The 2019 Pinot Noir Annabelle is a dark, brooding wine. Black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and cloves infuse the Annabelle with tons of depth. This well-exposed site on Fort Ross-Seaview produces rich, thick-skinned grapes. All of that intensity comes through in a broad, ample Pinot that will reward readers with years of fine drinking. All this needs is time in the cellar. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95)From an exceptionally windy, exposed site at 1800 feet, the 2020 Pinot Noir Cuvee Anabell is highly aromatic of fresh alpine herbs, wild raspberry, and fresh soil. The palate is more structured, with darker fruit of fresh red plum skin, turned earth, and spice. This wine will benefit from time in bottle to integrate its structure. Drink it over the next 15 years. |

Vinous (94)The 2018 Pinot Noir Elliott Vineyard is one of the more nervous, edgy wines in this lineup. Readers will want to give it a few years to soften, as it is reticent and tightly wound in the early going. Bright mineral and savory notes drive a core of sweet red berry fruit. When I taste the 2018 I think of a lyric tenor voice that, while maybe not big in size, has the resonance to be heard all the way in the cheap seats. The Elliot is a cool, introspective Pinot that will reward those who can spend some time with it. |

Vinous (95+)The 2020 Pinot Noir Elliott is a potent, brooding wine. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of dark red/purplish fruit, sage, graphite, scorched earth and licorice. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2020 packs a serious punch. It is one of the more reticent wines in this range. I would give it a few years to settle down. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98)More tannic and chiseled, the 2022 Pinot Noir Elliott comes from the West Sonoma Coast AVA and offers a more compact profile on the nose at this youthful stage, with notes of wild raspberries, fresh wild herbs, roses, and pine. The medium-bodied palate boasts a wonderful structure, with soiled tension and a ferrous quality, with iron-rich notes of blood orange pith and a long finish. It’s going to need time in the cellar to unfurl. Drink 2025-2045. |

Vinous (95)The 2021 Pinot Noir Hellenthal Old Shop Block is another searingly intense wine in this lineup of young Pinots. Accordingly, readers should be in no rush. Jeb Dunnuck (98)A deep ruby hue, the 2021 Pinot Noir Occidental Vineyard takes on a lot of the qualities of the Annabelle and amplifies them. Offering notes of blackberry, black raspberry, fresh and pure herbs, rocky earth, and black cherry as well as a sanguine minerality, it also delivers a haunting mineral note that’s almost impossible to put into words. Drink 2025-2040. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95)The 2020 Pinot Noir Trout Gulch utilized 75% whole cluster fruit in fermentation, and it is lifted with salted raspberry, wet stones, and delicate red flowers. California | 3 | 96 (JD) | HK$3,940.00 | |||||
Jeb Dunnuck (96)A medium ruby hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir Trout Gulch also comes from the Santa Cruz Mountains, where this vineyard sees more southern and coastal influence and is situated only 3.5 miles from the ocean. Compared to the Mindego Ridge, it shows a darker and more savory profile. On the nose, it’s layered and complex with notes of wild raspberries, fresh pine, fresh roses, and sea spray. The palate has a more angular structure, with medium body, crunchy, ripe tannins, refreshing, snappy acidity, and a chalky, mineral texture. It also expresses undercurrents of more savory umami notes through the finish, which will only enhance the wine as it comes into its own over the next several years. Drink 2025-2037. |

Jeb Dunnuck (96-98)The 2023 Pinot Noir Trout Gulch was tasted as a barrel sample. It’s refreshing and pure on the nose, with notes of mixed berry fruit, floral perfume, and fresh piney herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a fresh, stony texture and a more refined tannic structure. It’s a lovely, mineral-driven wine with a wild, salty, savory finish. |
