There's real depth and density here, but not the heaviness of the past. Once again, Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli crafted a unique and totally distinctive wine. Superb. |

Even though the 2015 is quite powerful, the presence of slightly forward aromas leads me to believe it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. |

Fine tannins frame a core of red fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice and blood orange. The 2018 is perhaps not as varietally expressive as in some editions, but it more than makes up for that with its grace. There is a feeling of youthful austerity that emerges with time in the glass. |

Excellent development potential here. |

Burghound (94)This more elegant than the Lavaut with its ripe and attractively layered nose of markedly ripe black cherry, floral, warm earth and a panoply of spice elements. There is superb richness, size and weight to the concentrated, velvety and seductively textured broad-shouldered flavors that conclude in a phenomenally persistent finish that is supported by very firm tannins. This is a powerful and robust Charmes that is certainly bigger and richer than the Lavaut but it doesn't have quite the same underlying tension. |

This is a serious, concentrated Charmes that—as I wrote last year—fully vindicates Loïc Dugat-Py's decision to harvest early, as well as his move to a reduced percentage of new oak (only 66%) for this cuvée. |

This is balanced to offer early appeal but has the juicy concentration and backbone to age well. |

This is a classic Champeaux of power and grace though one that is also clearly constructed to age for years. |

Blueberry, blackberry and licorice on the nose, along with a fresh note of menthol. Clearly tighter and more backward than the Evocelles; less minerally but more peppery. No shortage of power or thrust here. Finishes with a tougher tannic spine that will require patience. |
