The 2017 Nit de Nin La Coma d’en Romeu is from an extremely dry and early harvest that delivered just five hectoliters per hectare! That means they only produced 1,330 bottles from the 1.5 hectares of Garnacha on those slate terraces at 350 meters in altitude. It was bottled in April 2019. It has a beautiful and subtle nose that’s very spicy (cloves and cumin, curry and pink pepper) and floral, with a palate that feels light but has great depth and inner power, with pungent flavors and subtle minerality.HK$6,025.00 -

Experience the luscious versatility of the Nittardi Chianti Classico Riserva 1990. Hailing from Tuscany's renowned Nittardi Estate dating back to the 16th century, this elegant wine is sourced from 100% handpicked Sangiovese grapes. Nestled amidst olives and cypress trees, the low-yielding vines grow on marl and limestone soils, fostering a rich, complex character. The vinification involves traditional methods, including fermentation in stainless steel followed by maturing in French and Slavonian oak barrels.
As a result, the Nittardi Chianti Classico Riserva 1990 promises a ruby-red allure with ripe fruit aromas, splendidly balanced by hints of liquorice, tobacco and black pepper. The balanced tannins and harmonious acidity lead to a long, lingering finish. The 2013 Bramaterra is fabulous. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2013 is a wine of resonance, vertical reach and, most importantly, real pedigree. Dried flowers, herbs, mint, dried cherry and tobacco all meld together effortlessly. Time in the glass brings out a whole range of floral and savory overtones that add aromatic dimension. Vivid and enticing, the 2013 Bramaterra will delight readers for many years to come.HK$2,905.00 -

The 2015 Bramaterra is rich and explosive in the glass. Blood orange, chalk, mint, white pepper and macerated cherry are some of the many aromas and flavors that develop in the glass. There is something incredibly wild and untamed about the 2015 that is so incredibly enticing. In the glass, the 2015 is deep, powerful and built for the long-haul. It is a wine of tremendous character and breeding.HK$2,130.00 -

The 2017 Bramaterra is broad, ample and super expressive. The Bramaterra handles the richness of the vintage quite well. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint, spice and licorice all come alive with a bit of air. The 2017 is layered and yet retains the feeling of weightlessness that makes Alto Piemonte reds so compelling. There's plenty of character here, that much is clear.HK$2,130.00 -

The 2017 Lessona is pretty, if a bit forward. Sweet dried cherry, cinnamon, spice, orange peel and dried rose petal are nicely lifted in the glass. I would prefer to drink this over the next few years as it is already fading.HK$2,100.00 -

Verset's 1998 Cornas displays complex redcurrant, cherry pit, violet and spicecake scents, with deeper olive and licorice nuances sneaking up as the wine opens. Lively and sharply focused, it offers spicy red fruit and floral flavors that are underscored by building minerality. It's bright, focused and spicy on the finish, which echoes the floral and spice notes. Anybody who thinks that Cornas can't be elegant really owes it to themselves to try this wine, if they can get their hands on a bottle at this point.HK$5,945.00 -

(13.5% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. More serious and less open on the nose than the A Lisa, offering scents of blackberry, violet and bitter chocolate. Then very concentrated in the mouth, showing more breadth but less early sweetness than the A Lisa. The dark berry flavors are complicated by bitter chocolate, smoked meat and a sexy saline quality. Finishes with serious dusty tannins and superb violety persistence. Enjoy the A Lisa now while giving this wine another year or two to gain in pliancy.HK$2,360.00 -

The 2016 Eclipse is 87% Grenache, 8% Graciano and 5% Shiraz, all off the McLaren Vale estate vineyard. As it almost seems to, it boasts gorgeous aromas of raspberries, accented by a range of herbs and spices that include notes of orange zest, bay leaf and rose petals. It's full-bodied, with assertive but silky tannins that should help preserve the wine's freshness as it ages. Although full-bodied, it handles its alcohol well, showing just a trace of warmth on the lingering finish.HK$2,100.00 -

Even more concentrated than the impressive 2014, the 2015 Shiraz Reserve is almost painfully intense—in a good sense. Dark berries, culinary herbs and roasted meat notes combine in a mouthwatering nose, which leads into a dense, creamy-textured palate. While most Noon wines can be drunk on release (as can this one, albeit in a soft-core S&M sort of way), I would suggest holding this one for a couple of years and drinking it over the next decade.HK$2,500.00 -

The 2011 Eisen & Viljoen has a better set of aromatics than the 2012: blackberry, sage and graphite scents, quite reserved but nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe black fruit mixed with blueberry and graphite. Like the 2012, there seems to be just a touch of bitterness on the finish, though not as procounced as the ensuing vintage, but detracting from what could have been a better wine. Re-tasting in South Africa with the owners, unfortunately I found the same thing. There were just 11 barrels produced.HK$3,710.00 -

The 2012 Eisen & Viljoen has a well defined, quite focused bouquet with blackberry, smoke, cedar and undergrowth scents that have a Left Bank-like flair. The palate is medium-bodied with quite dense black fruit, and is nicely balanced, but I noticed a green note on the finish that knocks over what could have been a fine wine. That's a shame. I would be intrigued to taste another vintage.HK$3,710.00 -

Glass-staining purple. Exotic, pungent scents of cherry-cola, potpourri and white pepper, plus a sexy note of sandalwood. Very fresh in the mouth, with intense, floral-accented black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter and spicier with aeration. Blends vivacity and power smoothly, finishing with nervy mineral cut and a lingering note of spicecake. Like the Numanthia, this looks like it will drink well young and age well on its balance rather than power.HK$6,895.00 -

This is a powerful and cooly tannic old-vine red from Toro. It’s full-bodied and focused with lots of density, yet it remains polished and very long. Moss and wet earth. Rather endless. You can taste the earth of Toro. All the vines are 120 years old, some even 200 years old. Drinkable now, but better in 2028.HK$11,580.00 -
