Pale, bright yellow. White peach, menthol and white pepper on the nose, plus a touch of vanillin oak. A tight, subdued Folatières with penetrating rocky minerality; not a floral style. Very backward but has the tactile salty extract to age. Very concentrated and long on the aftertaste. The vines are in the top of the cru, barely 40 meters from Jadot's Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles, notes Barnier.HK$1,070.00 -

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru is well defined on the nose, fresh and taut, with an abiding sense of purity and delineation. Joyous aromatics! The palate is crisp on the entry and well balanced, although this is the one Folatières where I find the oak impedes and rather occludes the terroir, rendering it unnecessarily generic compared to its peers, though the creaminess is seductive. The success of this wine depends on how well it can eat up that oak, and given its melioration in glass, my score reflects my optimism. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)
5 Star Wine. There will be no En la Richarde Folatières from Héritiers Louis Jadot this year, but this bottling is superb. A little more toastiness on the nose. This builds beautifully to the back of the palate, showing an excellent backbone with just the right elegance of minerality. Really good. Bravo Drink from 2026-2033. Tasted: October 2022HK$4,260.00 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)
(5 Star Wine) Mid lemon yellow, with a concentrated bouquet that has less immediate charm than the Clos de la Garenne. However, there is significant weight on the palate, some yellow plums, while the acidity has an attractive mineral touch. My conclusion is that this Folatières is just very backward. Everything is there to make a great wine, and In the end the more exciting wine of two excellent Pulignys. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: October 2023.HK$7,020.00 -

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a candied patisserie- and vanilla-scented bouquet that is very seductive if a little oaky at the moment, though that should be absorbed with time. The palate is well balanced with a marine influence on the entry. A very saline Les Folatières with much more persistence on the finish compared to the Clos de la Garenne, this is promising (and also one of the only whites from Jadot around 14% abv).HK$6,125.00 -

From the southern side of this large premier cru, the 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes (Maison Louis Jadot) offers up appealing aromas of plums, pomegranate, espresso roast, raw cocoa and spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with good depth and concentration and a broad-shouldered chassis of fine but chalky tannin. This looks promising.HK$3,110.00 -

The 2021 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru has a very attractive, pure bouquet with shimmering red berry fruit, wilted rose petal and a touch of undergrowth that becomes increasingly floral with aeration. Impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannins. Sensual and supple, there are no hard edges here, and the finish seems to glide. The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has a well defined bouquet of raspberry, cranberry and bergamot tea, nicely focused and articulating the terroir. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, a fine bead of acidity, gentle grip and an innocuous but refreshing, classically styled finish. Fine.HK$5,560.00 -

Alluring scents of ripe purple plum, black currant, clove, and star anise mark Jadot’s 2005 Vosne-Romanee Beaux Monts. Smoked and roasted meat flavors ally themselves to dark fruits and exotic spices on the palate, with subtle hints of caramel and vanilla from the oak accenting rather than intruding. This displays a warmer, more obviously rich and opulent character than many young 2005 Vosnes and than nearly any other 2005s from Jadot. Deep, fat folds of fruit persist with spices and low-toned roasted meat into an imposingly long, sumptuous finish. One could enjoy this soon if it does not close up, but it certainly has the concentration and potential to reward at least five years’ patience.HK$19,375.00 -
