  • Noon Reserve Shiraz 2015 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97)

Even more concentrated than the impressive 2014, the 2015 Shiraz Reserve is almost painfully intense—in a good sense. Dark berries, culinary herbs and roasted meat notes combine in a mouthwatering nose, which leads into a dense, creamy-textured palate. While most Noon wines can be drunk on release (as can this one, albeit in a soft-core S&M sort of way), I would suggest holding this one for a couple of years and drinking it over the next decade.

  • Normandie Eisen & Viljoen 2011 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (87)

The 2011 Eisen & Viljoen has a better set of aromatics than the 2012: blackberry, sage and graphite scents, quite reserved but nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe black fruit mixed with blueberry and graphite. Like the 2012, there seems to be just a touch of bitterness on the finish, though not as procounced as the ensuing vintage, but detracting from what could have been a better wine. Re-tasting in South Africa with the owners, unfortunately I found the same thing. There were just 11 barrels produced.

  • Normandie Eisen & Viljoen 2012 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (86)

The 2012 Eisen & Viljoen has a well defined, quite focused bouquet with blackberry, smoke, cedar and undergrowth scents that have a Left Bank-like flair. The palate is medium-bodied with quite dense black fruit, and is nicely balanced, but I noticed a green note on the finish that knocks over what could have been a fine wine. That's a shame. I would be intrigued to taste another vintage.

  • Numanthia 2018 (12x75cl)
  • Numanthia Termanthia 2007 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

Glass-staining purple. Exotic, pungent scents of cherry-cola, potpourri and white pepper, plus a sexy note of sandalwood. Very fresh in the mouth, with intense, floral-accented black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become sweeter and spicier with aeration. Blends vivacity and power smoothly, finishing with nervy mineral cut and a lingering note of spicecake. Like the Numanthia, this looks like it will drink well young and age well on its balance rather than power.

    James Suckling (97)

This is a powerful and cooly tannic old-vine red from Toro. It’s full-bodied and focused with lots of density, yet it remains polished and very long. Moss and wet earth. Rather endless. You can taste the earth of Toro. All the vines are 120 years old, some even 200 years old. Drinkable now, but better in 2028.

  • Nyetimber 1086 Rose 2013 (3x75cl)
    (3x75cl) 2013

    Wine Advocate (92+)

From a blend of Hampshire Chardonnay on chalk and West Sussex greensand Pinot Noir (including via a red wine addition), the 2013 1086 Vintage Rosé stands out above all for its fragranced, nuanced fruit from this cool and late yet pristine vintage. There are flavors of fresh apricot, fig, peach blossom and dried strawberry that are delicate in intensity yet open up to layers of ground almond and toasted bread that speak more of the decade of lees aging behind the wine. It's a wine defined by crispness and freshness of fruit, with a little pink-grapefruit bitter twist adding some counterbalance through a beautifully settled mousse and a moderate, accessible dosage. This could develop with interest over the medium term.

  • Nyetimber Nyetimber Blanc De Blancs 2013 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (87)

The 2013 Blanc de Blancs is made from Chardonnay from West Sussex and Hampshire, picked October 8–24 and disgorged April 2018; it contains 9.5g/L residual sugar. Clear silvery in hue, it has quite an intense bouquet. Perhaps here I am seeking more steeliness and reserve and less toastiness. I want my Blanc de Blancs aromatics with nerve! The palate is balanced with sour lemon on the entry, sharp acidity and plenty of baked apple notes, but it needs more complexity on the finish.

The palate is creamy with fine bubbles and a lovely shortcrust saltiness. This is compact but rich, linear yet sinuous and beautifully concentrated. It deserves a place at the table and will continue to evolve. The finish is all sea, lemon and saltiness.
