Wine Advocate (96)
Here's a wine that brings on the best of the 2015 vintage. This growing season that will be remembered for sunshine and warmth is distinguished by rich and concentrated fruit. The 2015 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca shows extra intensity and complexity with a quick assembly of wild fruit, rose, tarry smoke and flinty mineral aromas. There is a lot of depth and, more importantly, volume in this Barolo. The wine definitely veers toward the blacker and plummier side of the Nebbiolo spectrum. There is a lot of beautiful meat on these strong bones.HK$8,000.00 -

Showing the precision and purity of the celebrated Bussia MGA (in Monforte d'Alba), the Oddero 2016 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca has a lifted and largely floral bouquet with pressed rose, spicy potpourri, licorice, cinnamon stick, rosemary sprig and a hint of lavender. The intensity and the purity of the bouquet is beautiful, and although the oak tones play a prominent role at this stage, they will certainly integrate within the elegant, mid-weight texture of this Barolo. The wine ages in 30-hectoliter Austrian oak casks for 30 months. Production is 3,300 bottles.HK$2,130.00 -

The 2017 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca is a gorgeous, sensual wine. The bouquet alone is captivating. Dried rose petal, spice, menthol, leather, lavender and dried herb notes soar out of the glass. The raciness of this warm, dry vintage comes through in the wine's inner sweetness, but there is terrific freshness and plenty of site character as well. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a Barolo.HK$6,020.00 -

The 2013 Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda is elegant, refined and translucent right out of the gate. A Barolo of drive and precision, the 2013 Rionda captures all of the energy of this great vintage. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, cinnamon, mint and rose petal play off virile tannins in a Barolo of contrasts that is both finessed and potent.HK$11,180.00 -

Here's a wild ride back in time. The spectacular Oddero 2015 Barolo Riserva Vignarionda opens to magnificent intensity and an impressive level of no-holds-barred openness or generosity. You can age the wine further, but honestly, it tastes beautiful right now. The 2015 vintage carries a lot of extra fruit weight and shows broad shoulders. That supportive textural richness gives rise to dark fruit, dried blackberry, cured tobacco and candied chestnut. The bouquet is an infusion of fruit complexity and budding evolution. This is a bottle you could cozy up to sometime during the chilly winter months. Production is 3,500 bottles.HK$2,960.00 -

Falstaff (97)
Elegant, bright ruby red. Beautiful nose, candied blood oranges, raspberries, notes of cold stone, plus a touch of stone fruit, sea salt, oak, multilayered and mysterious. On the palate, compact, tightly woven, profound, enveloping, multi-layered, still with some rough tannins on the finish at the moment.HK$8,890.00 -

The 2015 Barolo Villero is another striking wine in this range. Here it is the wine's texture and resonance that stand out most. Spice, lavender and menthol notes appear with time in the glass, but it is really the layers of depth and overall complexity that make the Villero one of the most complete wines in the range.HK$3,820.00 -
Vinous (94-97)
Black cherry, cloves, melted road tar, licorice and leather all run through Oddero's 2016 Barolo Villero. Deep on the palate with huge swaths of tannin, the Villero is a decidedly big, virile wine that is going to need time to fully come together. I imagine it will always be a powerhouse, however. The Villero is not especially elegant; the bombastic style clearly favors power over finesse - at least, it does today. Even so, there is plenty of Nebbiolo character and classic, old-school austerity.HK$1,560.00 -
James Suckling (96)
Ripe-plum, candied-strawberry and white-mushroom aromas follow through to a full body with round, soft tannins and plenty of fruit. Lots of transparent fruit in the center palate. It firms up at the end with a fine, chewy texture. Try after 2026.HK$3,315.00 -
Vinous (94)
The 2019 Barolo Villero is a powerful, classically austere young Barolo. Then again, that is Villero. Bright acids and clean mineral underpinnings give the 2019 striking energy. Spice, dried flowers, mint, crushed rocks, cranberry and pine all build with a bit of time in the glass. I very much admire the precision here, but the Villero clearly needs time. The only question is how much.HK$5,025.00 -
Vinous (98)
The 2021 Barolo Villero soars from the glass with intensely spiced, balsamic-tinged aromatics. Deceptively medium in body, with superb persistence and class, the 2021 is simply magnificent. Beams of tannin shape the unforgettable, persistent finish. This is another wine that demands patience. The Villero is not an easy wine, rather it is a Barolo that offers a more inward, at times intellectual, expression of Nebbiolo.HK$4,225.00 -
