  • Cerbaiona 2019 (6x75cl)
  • Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino 2001 (1x450cl)

    Vinous (96)

Dark red. Knockout nose offers raspberry, strawberry, rose petal, orange peel, graphite, tobacco, minerals, mint and woodsy underbrush. Large-scaled, compellingly sweet and deep but not at all heavy. Concentrated, sappy flavors of wild red fruits are complicated by a whiff of leather and firmed by strong minerality. As huge as this is, it offers great vibrancy and precision, even elegance. In its vertical and horizontal dimensions, this stunning wine is almost too big for the mouth. Finishes with palate-staining persistence and kaleidoscopic flavors of red fruits, minerals and leather. I followed this bottle for 48 hours, and the fruit refused to fade.
  • Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino 2011 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

Cerbaiona's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the protagonists of the vintage. There is no denying the sheer beauty and focus of this wine. It makes a fabulous first impact with super sharp tones of wild berry, cola, balsam herb, flint and crushed oyster shell. Those drying mineral notes leave a lasting impression. In the mouth, this wine is super elegant, tight and delicately nuanced. Unfortunately, I have not had the best track record with aged Brunello from Cerbaiona (ten years or more) personally, but I am hopeful that a wine of this caliber and depth will restore my faith. No matter what the aging trajectory ultimately demonstrates, this wine certainly does taste fantastic at this young stage.

  • Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino 2012 (1x150cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (95)

Brooding and herbal, the 2012 Brunello Di Montalcino has a dark red color and aromas of toasted anise, black cherry liqueur, sage, pine sap, and tobacco. It fills the palate with a refined and elegant but ripe feel, with silky tannins, generous fruit, and a hint of dark mineral undercurrents. Savory and long on the palate, it still offers a good deal of longevity. Drink 2025-2035.

  • Cerbaiona Brunello di Montalcino 2013 (6x75cl)

    Jancis Robinson (17.5+)

Cask sample 1: Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Still a little progress, but finer on the nose than the 2012. Subtle cherry and a hint of tea leaves. Proper Burgundian in style, think Marroneto but with added ripeness. Spectacular balance and ends on austere tannins. This just needs more time but is already exciting. Cask sample 2: A shade deeper. More slumbering and with a little more concentration on the nose than cask sample 1. Intense, ripe raspberry and oatmeal notes. Juicy and almost a little racy, and with firmer tannins than sample 1, and a touch bitter at this stage. Shares breed and elegance with no 1, even if the tannins are more upfront. Yet the length and elegance are impressive.

Extremely aromatic with plums, black cherries, flowers and some orange peel. Hints of cedar and sandalwood. Full-bodied with firm, silky tannins that are polished and very pretty. This is really well crafted and poised. Refined finish. Drink after 2024.

    Jeb Dunnuck (98)

The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino pours a bright red color and shows more aromatic restraint than the 2021. The nose shows wild raspberries, darker berries, and dried floral tones, with a more muted, understated frame. Medium to full-bodied, it offers ripe tannins, balanced acidity, and solid length, although it feels a touch less polished than the 2021 at this stage. It should drink well over the next 12 to 15 years. Drink 2026-2041.

    Jeb Dunnuck (97)

Interpreting a vintage marked by August heat, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino pours a bright red hue and leans into a slightly richer, more immediate profile than the 2021. The nose has black raspberries, grenadine, violets, and warm spice. Medium to full-bodied, it has broader shoulders and more flesh, with ripe tannins, balanced acidity, and a generous finish that stays refined. It should drink well for 10 to 15 years. Drink 2026-2040.

  • Cerbaiona Rosso di Montalcino 2013 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (89)

The 2013 Rosso Cerbaiona is pure, lifted and gracious. Sweet red cherry and mint abound in a fragrant, mid-weight Rosso to enjoy over the next few years. The 2013 is a pretty wine, but it is also a bit fragile and does not have the overachieving quality of the very best versions.
  • Cerbaiona Rosso di Montalcino 2015 (6x75cl)
Incredible purity of bouquet; wild cherry, red licorice, dried herbs and soft earth tones – it is both fine and intense. Sweet and ripe on the attack, crisp acidity then kicking in to balance the generous fruit. Tannins are fresh, defined and well - integrated. Although suave, it is authentic and offers plenty of nuances. The finish is long and polished - it has longevity that other Rossos only dream of, but also delights immediately.

  • Ceretto Barbaresco 2017 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

Ceretto's classic 2017 Barbaresco opens quickly and nicely in the glass. That playful accessibility is a trait that I found in many of the Barbarescos from this vintage. Compared to the two vineyard-specific expressions (Asili from Barbaresco and Bernadot from Treiso), this wine offers broad brush strokes of wild berry, spice, licorice and iron ore. That's exactly the mission of this wine: It provides an authentic portrait of a grape. Fruit represents a blend from various sites, including young vines from Asili and the lower parts of Bernadot. This wine is poised for near and medium-term drinking.

The 2018 Barbaresco is a very pretty, ethereal wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, spice, tobacco, cedar and mint are all laced together in this super-classy Barbaresco. The 2018 is gorgeous today and will drink well for another decade.

  • Ceretto Barbaresco 2019 (6x75cl)

    The Wine Independent (95)

This 2019 Ceretto Barbaresco has a beautiful, seductively complex nose, with some hints of smoke, ash, orange peel, cream and oak spice. A dense and intense nose is followed by a beautifully textured, harmonious palate with integrated tannins which are very subtle and fine in nature. This wine manages to combine firmness and drive with plenty of seductive charm. It's a nervy, edgy style which I love.

  • Ceretto Barbaresco Bernardot 2014 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2014 Barbaresco Bernardot has shut down since I last tasted it about nine months ago. The breadth that is typical of this Treiso site comes through, but the 2014 is quite reluctant today. Hints of smoke, licorice, underbrush and a host of balsamic notes infuse the resonant finish. Time in the glass brings out the wine's pliant side, but readers should plan on cellaring the 2014 for at least a few years. Readers will have to be patient.

  • Ceretto Barbaresco Bernardot 2015 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2015 Barbaresco Bernardot is laced with sweet red cherry, kirsch, mint, cinnamon and wild berry. The natural ripeness of 2015 makes the Bernardot easy to drink young, even if there is a good bit of tannin that could use more time in bottle to soften. Here, too, the current Ceretto style that emphasizes mid-weight structure is quite apparent. Time in the glass brings out the more virile side of Barbaresco in a wine that expresses the myriads shades of contrast that make Nebbiolo such a fascinating grape.

  • Ceretto Barbaresco Bernardot 2017 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94+)

This is a beautiful creation from a vintage that threw quite a few challenges at vintners elsewhere in Italy and here in Piedmont. The Ceretto 2017 Barbaresco Bernadot plays up its elegance and its graceful personality. With fruit from an organic and biodynamic 4.8-hectare site in Treiso, planted high at 400 meters above sea, this pretty Barbaresco reveals very specific aromas of wild berry, light spice, licorice and iron rust. These aromas are essential components of the classic Nebbiolo playlist, as is the lightweight, silky texture of this wine. The Bernadot is natural and effortless (aged in mostly neutral oak).

  • Ceretto Barbaresco Bernardot 2018 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (92)

The 2018 Barbaresco Bernardot comes across as relatively quiet in this vintage, but that is the personality of the year. There is good depth and creaminess, and yet the volume is very much dialed down. Dark cherry, spice, leather and mint build into the understated finish.

  • Ceretto Barbaresco Bernardot 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous (94)

The 2019 Barbaresco Bernardot is dark, fleshy and wonderfully nuanced. Soft contours and silky tannins give the 2019 its racy, super-inviting personality. The Bernardot is usually a potent Barbaresco, but in 2019 it is all finesse, all the way. Rose petal, mint, dried cherry and cinnamon linger in this super-expressive Barbaresco from the Ceretto family.
