The 2015 Franc-Mayne has a refined and detailed bouquet with blackberry, raspberry coulis and a touch of cedar emerging from the glass. This is a classy bouquet in the making. The palate is fresh and vibrant with succulent red berry fruit overlaying a fine lattice of tannin. Precise, focused and elegant without compromising the fruit, this is perhaps the best wine that I have tasted from this estate. Bravo!HK$3,130.00 -

(6x75cl) 2007Vinous (91+)
The 2007 Barolo Le Brunate is a dark, seductive wine loaded with vibrant dark fruit. The wine needs quite a bit of time in the glass to find its center, but over time the fruit becomes expressive and darker, mentholated notes begin to emerge, adding complexity. As delicious as this is, it doesn't quite reach the level of the 2006. There appears to be just a hint of newer cask here as well, but I don't think that is too big of an issue. That said, neither of the two bottles I tasted were totally convincing.HK$3,910.00 -
(6x75cl) 2009Vinous (90)
The 2009 Barolo Le Brunate is a huge , powerful wine endowed with tremendous structure. Readers will have to be patient with this hulking Barolo. Tar, dried flowers, plums and leather all flesh out in a big, broad-shouldered Barolo with a lot of density, but less in the way of site-specific detail, at least today.HK$3,805.00 -
(6x75cl) 2010Vinous (94+)
The 2010 Barolo Le Brunate is the most dynamic and textured of these wines. Dark cherry, plum, smoke and violet notes flesh out in a firm, muscular Barolo endowed with tons of classic Brunate nuance. The flavors are intense, dark and bold. Balsamic overtones develop in the glass, adding further shades of nuance and complexity. Today, the Brunate is reticent and austere. Readers who can wait will be rewarded with an exquisite Barolo.HK$6,950.00 -
(6x75cl) 2013Vinous (95)
A dark, powerful Barolo, 2013 Brunate is another wine that is built for the cellar. The brooding, mysterious side of Brunate comes through in a dense, muscular Barolo built on structure and acidity. Traditionally leaning palates will adore the 2013 Brunate. A host of balsamic-inflected notes lead into the firm, unyielding finish, adding to the wine's gravitas and seriousness. This is an especially somber, powerful wine, even by Brunate standards.HK$2,200.00 -
(6x75cl) 2015Vinous (91)
Rinaldi's 2015 Barolo Brunate is a powerful, dense wine. Hints of spice, licorice, leather, game and cherry develop with time in the glass. The power and intensity of the year are very much in evidence. But there is also a slightly roasted quality and an aggressiveness in the tannin that I am not used to seeing. Tasted three times with consistent notes.HK$4,315.00 -
Vinous (94)
The 2016 Barolo Brunate is captivating. Dried herbs, mint, sage, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and gentle earthy notes give the 2016 lovely aromatic complexity. Like all of the Rinaldi 2016s, the Brunate has a bit more early appeal than some other recent vintages. Even so, there is plenty of depth, Brunate muscle and overall structure to support a number of years of fine drinking.HK$3,165.00 -

The 2018 Barolo Brunate is deep, fleshy and super-expressive right out of the gate. A Barolo of real stature and depth, the 2018 possesses notable intensity in all of its dimensions. Cedar, tobacco, menthol, licorice and dried herbs add layers of nuance to this strapping, potent Barolo. This is a very fine effort for the year.HK$3,780.00 -

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)
The 2021 Barolo Brunate is another compelling wine from Rinaldi. Floral overtones meld into a core of dark red and blue-toned fruits. In this tasting, the Brunate is surprisingly gentle relative to the other wines in the range. That is somewhat unexpected, but also something that works. Hints of lavender, licorice, cloves and coffee build effortlessly, framed by insistent tannins that extend the finish.HK$3,295.00 -
(6x75cl) 2013Vinous (95)
The 2013 Barolo Cannubi is unusually deep and powerful, both of which bode very well for the future, but make the wine forbidding in the early going. Not that readers should be too concerned with drinking these wines young in the first place though. Firm tannins enshroud a core of expressive fruit in a Barolo that is going to need time to fully emerge. Even so, the Cannubi is super-impressive today.HK$3,205.00 -
(6x75cl) 2016Vinous (94)
The 2016 Barolo Cannubi shows all of the raciness of this site to great effect. Crushed flowers, mint, spice and red berry fruit fill out the layers as this pliant, silky Barolo shows off its considerable allure. Soft edges (for a young Barolo) give the Cannubi notable immediacy and tons of sheer appeal. The Cannubi is a wine of pure pleasure.HK$5,090.00 -
Vinous (93+)
The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is sensual, polished and a real delight to taste. Soft and effusive, with lovely aromatic presence, the Cannubi will drink well with minimal cellaring. Sweet dried cherry, mint, spice, crushed rose petal and sweet pipe tobacco all grace this super-appealing, mid-weight Barolo from the Rinaldi family. The 2017 is a bit light, but it is super delicious today.HK$4,340.00 -

The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is bright and effusive, as wines from this site tend do be. Crushed flowers, spice, new leather and macerated cherry are some of the notes that soar from the glass. This wine shows an especially minty character. The Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2020 Barolo Cannubi has a bright profile of dark and purple fruits with a sweet finish. The 2015 Barolo Cannubi Riserva is a total stunner. In fact, it is one of the very best Barolos I have ever tasted from the Rinaldi family. Dark yet translucent, with remarkable depth, the Riserva is a total thrill from the very first taste. Lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and mocha give the Cannubi its distinctly dark, sepia-toned personality. The 2015 needs time, but it is compelling, to say the least. Floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee.HK$11,795.00 -

The 2019 Barolo Riserva Cannubi is such a total knockout. I am not always a fan of Riservas, as I don’t think the wines always deliver something meaningfully better than the non-Riserva versions, but that clearly does not apply here. A statuesque, towering Barolo, Rinaldi's 2019 Riserva dazzles from start to finish. Cannubi signatures are amplified to the maximum, but not distorted. Waves of dark red fruit caress the palate on the way to a deep, layered finish that is nothing short of compelling. Bravo!HK$6,175.00 -

The 2021 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is a sensual, inviting wine. The latest addition to the range, the 2021 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata marries the finesse of this La Morra site with the depth that runs through all the 2021s. Plush, larger-scaled tannins wrap up a core of dark red fruit, rose petal, spice and blood orange. The 2021 is wonderfully layered and resonant yet also remains light on its feet for such a structured Barolo. Terrific.HK$3,365.00 -

The 2016 Barbaresco is fabulous. Rich, ample and inviting, with terrific depth, the 2016 opens up beautifully in the glass. Sweet cherry, licorice, mint, rose petal, spice and new leather flesh out effortlessly. More than anything, though, I admire the wine's persistence and overall balance. The 2016 is the finest Barbaresco I have tasted yet from Francesco Versio. This is such a pretty wine. Compared with previous vintages, the 2016 offers more finesse and a more transparent expression of Nebbiolo than I have seen in the past.HK$3,000.00
