  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Rosso 2022 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (96)

The 2022 Grattamacco is such a classy red. Delicate, svelte and gracious, the 2022 impresses with its total finesse more than anything else. Silky tannins and lifted aromatics make a strong first impression. Hints of blackberry, incense, dried herbs and mocha develop in the glass, adding layers of nuance. Pretty floral and spice top notes lift the finish.
  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Rosso 2023 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (95)

The 2023 Grattamacco is pure and total sensuality. Readers will find an understated Grattamacco, a wine that is more finesse than power. Dark red-toned fruit, tobacco, incense, spice box and mocha caress the palate. A long, beautifully resonant finish rounds things out in style. All the 2023 needs is a few years in bottle, even though it is pretty delicious in the early going.
  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2008 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94)

The flagship 2008 Bolgheri Superiore Grattamacco is beautifully delineated and articulate in this vintage. Sweet red cherries, flowers, spices and licorice are some of the notes that emerge from the glass. This is a decidedly bright, elegant Grattamacco that impresses for its fabulous overall balance and understated, classy personality. Firm, yet well integrated tannins and insistent minerality suggest the wine will drink well for many years, although to tell the truth, it is pretty delicious today. Grattamacco is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2028.
  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2015 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97)

The 2015 Bolgheri Superiore Grattamacco is big, bold and absolutely stunning. This blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese is dark and luscious, with overlapping melodies of tobacco, spice, dark fruit and grilled herb. There is so much depth and power. This vintage is a gem for your cellar, and the wine should award a long aging trajectory for those who have the patience to wait. Some 50,000 bottles were made.

  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2016 (6x75cl)

    Decanter (97)

Grattamacco is one of the highest estates in Bolgheri, located just beneath the village of Castagneto Carducci. It has a distinctive contribution of 15% Sangiovese to the blend, along with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This indigenous grape gives the wine a particular freshness and drinkability, rejuvenating the tension of the classic Bordeaux varieties. In 2016, Grattamacco has exceeded itself, with aromas of elegant, youthful red currant fruits integrated with citrus notes and cedar wood. On the palate the wine is perfectly balanced, and more immediately drinkable than some of the other top samples. It has delicious tension and ripeness, with a mediterranean character and a hint of kiwi on the finish.

  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2017 (6x75cl)

    Decanter (96)

The contribution of Sangiovese (15%) in the blend of Grattamacco makes it a distinctive Bolgheri Superiore. If on the nose Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are prevailing with cassis fruit, cedar and kiwi, full of balsamic depth, the indigenous grape pushes the fragrance of the wine with chewy wild fruit flavours. An exceptional expression in the hot vintage. Complex and layered, without any foursquare character, this organic wine is waiting for extra complexity over its liquorice finish.

  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2018 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (97)

Moving to the 2018 Grattamacco, this vintage is more classic in its expression and marked with finesse. While the summer was quite hot, it cooled at the end of August, with 60 mm of rain and an abrupt cold snap that slowed maturity, so they had to be quite patient waiting for the grapes to get ripe. The Sangiovese is very important in this vintage for its acidity. In the glass, it pours an almost identical, perhaps slightly more youthful red brick color, and it’s fresh and pretty on the nose, with a detailed perfume of fresh herbs, flowers, cherries, and redcurrants. The palate is refreshing and more vertical but not lacking ripeness, with fine tannins and a spine of refreshing acidity. Its characteristic saltiness frames the wine as it floats off the palate, with a mintiness on the backplate. I personally would be thrilled to drink this wine over the coming 15 or more years.

  • Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore 2019 (1x150cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (98)

Reserved layers and depth slowly begin to emerge from the 2019 Grattamacco, so it is going to need time in cellar to open and show itself. As it opens in the glass, it reveals attractive dark mineral earth, kirsch, black pepper spice, and balsamic. It is concentrated and compact at this stage, with savory richness, and it displays full and balanced structure, ripe and present tannins, and notes of cassis, cedar, and pine resin. It reveals rich complexity without ever feeling murky, and its energetic tension takes this wine to the next level. Drink 2025-2050.

The 2021 L'Alberello is a bright red/magenta-colored and is inviting with its fruity profile of candied strawberries, cocoa, sweet herbs, and pressed flowers. The palate is both charming and structured, at first revealing its attractive fruitiness, then showing its noble structure, with angular, defined tannins, a sanguine mineral backbone, and mouthwatering acidity. It demands time but should be an incredible offering from the Grattamacco team. Drink 2026-2050.

  • Greenock Creek Alice's Shiraz 2005 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (96)

The 2005 Alice’s Shiraz spent 28 months in seasoned American oak hogsheads. Aromas of smoke, asphalt, meat, game, truffle, and blueberry soar from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied Shiraz is velvety-textured, layered, spicy, and richly fruity. While not quite as riveting as the 2004 edition, it has enough structure to evolve for several years and should drink well through 2025.
  • Greenock Creek Apricot Block Shiraz 2005 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (95)

The 2005 Apricot Block Shiraz received the same upbringing as the Alice’s and is a similar glass-coating, opaque purple. An enticing perfume of cedar, scorched earth, pepper, violets, bacon, and blueberry leaps from the glass. A bit more restrained (a mere 15.0% alcohol) than its siblings, it is nevertheless a silky, layered, intensely flavored Shiraz with gobs of fruit and a 60-second finish. It should provide much pleasure from 2012 to 2025.
  • Greenock Creek Creek Block Shiraz 2004 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

The 2004 Shiraz “Creek Block” is near otherworldly. It was sourced from a 66-year-old vineyard with yields of 1.0 tons per acre and aged for 28 months in used American oak. It delivers a super-fragrant nose of smoked meat, bacon, violets, an earthy/truffle element, blackberry, and blueberry muffin. This leads to a full-bodied, voluptuous wine with gobs of spicy, complex blue and black fruit flavors, great balance, and a finish that just won’t quit. This loaded wine can be enjoyed now but will drink well for another 15-20 years.
  • Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Shiraz 2002 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (100)

The two Roennfeldt Road cuvees, from one of Barossa’s most esteemed addresses, appear to be the finest since the legendary 1998s The 2002 Roennfeldt Road Shiraz was aged in new French oak. Aromas of pain grille, truffle, mineral, violets, blackberry, and blueberry compote are ethereal and lead to a voluptuous, densely layered, succulent, complex Shiraz with 10-15 years of aging potential, This extraordinary effort should drink well through 2040.
  • Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Shiraz 2005 (1x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

The 2005 Roennfeldt Road Shiraz is very deep purple-black in color. It presents and incredible array of pronounced spice, earth, floral and savory aromas: blackberry preserves, dried mulberries, coffee, grilled duck, vanilla, cloves, fenugreek, violets and dried rose petals plus some shavings of dark chocolate. Very full and very rich in the mouth, at 17.5% declared alcohol this is not a wine for the faint hearted. Though youthful it’s already multi-layered and the opulent flesh is well supported by a good backbone of crisp acid and a high level of velvety tannins. The finish is very, very long. This Shiraz has great balance for the alcohol and although the wine leaves a bit of heat in the finish it neither overpowers nor detracts from the layers of complex flavors. Possessing the foundation and stuffing to age, it should drink well from 2014 to 2025+.
