(12x75cl) 2005Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)
The 2005 La Tour Figeac is silky, gracious and so expressive. Red-toned fruit, mocha, cinnamon and flowers give the 2005 a good deal of aromatic lift to match its mid-weight personality. The finish narrows just a bit, but this is still a very pleasing, nuanced Saint-Émilion. At this point I would not push my luck too much on aging. The 2005 is a gorgeous wine that shows the more delicate side of Saint-Émilion.HK$7,020.00 -
(12x75cl) 2009Wine Spectator (100)
Really fabulous on the nose, with sweet milk chocolate, flowers, currant and plum. Full-bodied, with incredible length. The tannins are so silky, but they are warm and cuddly. You just want to hug it. Powerful but so attractive. The blend is one third each of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Score range: 97-100HK$5,715.00 -
(12x75cl) 2015Jeb Dunnuck (93)
Made with guidance from Stéphane Derenoncourt and from a great terroir near the Saint-Emilion/Pomerol border, the 2015 Château La Tour Figeac is a classic effort that offers lots of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco, damp earth and truffle aromas and flavors. It's ripe, polished and balanced, with sweet tannin, integrated acidity, and a clean, classy feel, all of which make it a joy to drink already. Nevertheless, it should be at its best from 2020-2032. Tasted twice.HK$3,980.00 -
(6x75cl) 2016Vinous - Antonio Galloni (89)
The 2016 La Tour Figeac offers good fruit intensity and depth. Readers should plan on giving it a few years in bottle, as the tannins are a bit coarse today. Red cherry, plum, espresso and floral notes add complexity throughout. Even so, the tannins retain a toughness that is not likely to ever fully disappear.HK$2,095.00 -

Dark red. Roasted black raspberry, plum, leather and smoked meat on the nose. Quite suave and silky in the mouth, with enticing smoke and berry flavors. This has good middle-palate fat to buffer its dusty tannins. Finishes with noteworthy persistence. A very good showing.HK$10,910.00 -

Good medium-deep red. Ripe merlot notes of smoky raspberry and mocha dominate the nose. Fat, full and generous; lush and sweet. Very suave wine, with notes of minerals and hot bricks. Finishes with fine, integrated tannins and lovely persistence. The 2002 shows a more obvious structure today, but this is subtle and silky.HK$1,044.00 -

Deep purple-hued, the 2017 Chateau La Vieille Cure (75% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon) is a stunning success in the vintage. Notes of cassis, leafy herbs, tobacco, and spice all emerge from the glass, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, ripe, textured, balanced, and nicely textured. With good acidity and a great finish, it's a smoking effort to drink over the coming 10-12 years.HK$1,890.00 -

Decanter (94)
This is intense with tons of tar and cloves against the well-defined cassis fruits and lovely vibrant violet edging. The silky texture and legs indicate generous alcohol, but this is balanced, if on the larger side. It takes its time in the glass, at first a little overpowering, but it settles into itself and has been well handled offering good ageing potential. There were new owners as of harvest 2018, as French entrepreneur Jérôme Pignard took over from American co-owners; the Gant, Ferenbach and Sachs families.HK$1,960.00 -
(3x150cl) 2019Jeb Dunnuck (93)
A year-in, year-out best value, the 2019 Château La Vieille Cure is another winner from this château that does everything right. Revealing a deep ruby/purple hue as well as great aromatics of black cherries, tobacco leaf, spicy oak, and loamy earth, it's medium to full-bodied, perfectly balanced, has silky tannins, and a great finish. It's just an impeccably made, satisfying, classic Right Bank beauty to drink over the coming 10-12 years. Bravo!HK$1,275.00 -

Vinous (93)
Vivid ruby. Aromas of raspberry liqueur, cherry, potpourri and Asian spices on the exotically perfumed nose. Juicy, penetrating and sweet, with intense black raspberry and floral pastille flavors and a supple, velvety texture. Finishes very long, with smooth, melting tannins and a strong note of candied flowers. There's a full-bore 16% alcohol here but I wouldn't have guessed it.HK$1,015.00 -
Vinous (93)
Vivid ruby. Intense mineral- and spice-accented red berry liqueur and floral pastille scents show excellent clarity, with a hint of cola adding depth. Displays sweet black raspberry and bitter chocolate on the palate, with tangy acidity and a hint of white pepper adding vivacity and cut. Expands and gains sweetness on the strikingly long finish, showing lingering lavender pastille and spicecake qualities and fully integrated tannins.HK$760.00 -
Vinous (94-96)
Deep ruby. Spicy and energetic on the highly perfumed nose, displaying intense black raspberry and cherry scents and strong suggestions of candied lavender and smoky minerals. Supple, sweet and focused on the palate, offering deeply concentrated yet energetic red berry liqueur and cherry compote flavors that tighten up steadily with aeration. Shows excellent lift and clarity on the strikingly long, mineral-accented finish, which features lingering raspberry and floral notes and harmonious tannins. The interplay of power and finesse here is really something.HK$5,400.00 -

A true “wow” wine, the deep, concentrated 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Hauts-Lieux (there's 20% Mourvèdre) offers awesome notes of blackcurrants, smoked meats, graphite, crushed rocks, and licorice. Extraordinarily concentrated, perfectly balanced, structured, and long, it's another sensational wine from this estate. It needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will cruise for 15-20 after that.HK$4,750.00
