The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru has wonderful delineation and poise on the nose, real frisson, with yellow fruit, egg whites and wild peach. Love it! The palate is very well-balanced with a touch of reduction, elegant in style, perhaps needing more depth and grip on the finish. But this is very suave and nuanced.

There are just two barrels of the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Chenevottes 1er Cru, the Domaine's smallest cuvée. Ergo, it is raised in 50% new oak. This is relatively primal on the nose, yet to reveal its personality. Yet, there is plenty of concentration here with an underlying sense of tension. The palate is well-balanced, but as expected, it is oaky at the moment, and it will require 4-5 years to subsume that wood fully. I'll be cautious for the moment.

The palate is well-balanced, perhaps just a little conservative/timid at the moment, precise yet bashful. Hints of rose water and peach skin towards the finish. One of the prettiest cuvées from Fontaine-Gagnard this year.

One of the prettiest cuvées from Fontaine-Gagnard this year.

The 2022 Saint-Aubin Le Remilly 1er Cru comes from a limestone-rich parcel with touches of pineapple and Clementine, the 30% new oak imparting light frangipane notes. The palate is well-balanced, with a slightly tangy entry and fine acidity. It is fresh and vibrant but needs a little more mineralité on the finish. Otherwise, this is a fine En Remilly.

The 2022 Saint-Aubin Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a more complex bouquet than the En Remilly this year, demonstrating a touch more mineralité, crushed stone notes infusing the orchard fruit. Its higher elevation perhaps advantages it. The palate is medium-bodied with a nervous entry, very good raciness here that counterbalance the richness of this Saint-Aubin. The finish has very good weight, and the 30% new oak is neatly integrated. Excellent.

The palate is very well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, very saline but with a countervailing, almost honeyed element keeping this on its toes. This is a brilliant follow-up to the 2021.

Just bottled. A pretty, light lemon colour. A pleasing fragrance with spring flowers and the lighter side of plum fruit. Generous on the palate with a graphite touch which is probably the oak speaking, a wealth of fruit through the middle and enough flesh to cover the final point of acidity. Fine length as ever. The 2022 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru is a complex, dynamic wine. I especially admire its focus. Pear, slate, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all hover across the palate in a Meursault that marries fruit richness with layers of depth and explosive energy. In other words, classic Genevrières. The 2022 is quite reticent today, but I take that as a positive sign for the future. What a gorgeous wine this is.

The 2022 Meursault Les Poruzots 1er Cru marries fruit intensity with drive. It’s a combination that works so well here. Then again, that is a signature of this part of the vineyard. Crushed rocks, lemon peel, mint, white pepper and light tropical notes all come alive with some time in the glass.

Lemon peel, mint, crushed rocks and white pepper lend notable energy to this wonderfully vibrant, sculpted Puligny. All the elements are so well balanced. Saline notes emerge in the glass, supporting the beautifully persistent finish nicely. This is so attractive.
