(from a .28 ha parcel). Reduction. The markedly sleeker and more refined middleweight flavors possess a lovely sense of delineation on the dusty, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This is pretty much textbook Damodes that could be enjoyed young or kept for a decade plus. In a word, lovely.

Firm reduction masks the fruit though there is again a beguiling sense of underlying tension suffusing the detailed and stony medium-bodied flavors that flash good power on the moderately austere and lingering if mildly warm finish that is supported by relatively fine-grained tannins. In contrast to the Damodes that could reasonably be enjoyed young, this compact effort is clearly in need of at least moderate to longer-term cellaring.

The much bigger broad-shouldered flavors also possess outstanding density and power while exuding evident minerality on the precise, firm and very serious finale that delivers excellent length where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is usually the undisputed best wine in the range but in 2022, the Perrières may well give it a run for its money.

Here the super-fresh and vibrant medium weight flavors are not as concentrated or powerful but they are notably finer as well as more mineral-driven on the firm, serious and overtly austere finale. This possesses excellent potential but it isn’t a wine for youthful drinking.

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a very tempting bouquet, beautifully defined and one of the purest from Grivot this vintage. There's a subtle flinty quality to the aromatics. A little deeper in ruby colour. A pleasing mid ripeness to the fruit, this Nuits Lavières is beautifully balanced, with a fine mineral crunch following the solid and persistent raspberry fruit. Vinous (92-94)

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Argillats 1er Cru has a fresh and delineated bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, pressed white flowers and truffle. The palate is well balanced with sappy red fruit, fine tannins, nicely focused with impressive tension and mineralité on the finish. It ranks as one of Guillaume Tardy's best cuvées this year.

A fine even purple. The bouquet delivers just a little more intensity, and indeed class. A dark raspberry fruit but fresher than the Chambolle, and the acidity behind is up to the task. There is a fine clean fruit all the way through, the best balanced and most interesting of the Tardy wines. Fine tannins and even a mineral touch to assist the acidity. Drink from 2028-2035. Mid crimson. Darker-fruited than the Chorey and the Savigny, deep, pure dark fruit and some Nuits spice. Oak seems a little more marked on the nose and also on the palate. Open and surprisingly approachable but needs time for the oak to back off a bit. Long, dark, savoury finish.

Mid cherry red. Seductive, sweet-floral, perfumed. Open and expressive. Then deeper and more savoury on the palate. Super-fine tannins with lots of layers so that overall they are slightly chewy. Multilayerd, deeply fruited and very long. A harmonious beauty.

Mid cherry red. Highly perfumed, impression of violets. That perfume leads you to a firmly but finely structured wine – the really elegant tannins are the main quality of the palate at the moment. A refined, pure and elegant beauty.

The 2022 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens is excellent, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums and raspberries mingled with exotic spices, orange zest and petals. Medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, its textural attack segues into an unctuous core of fruit, concluding with a long, expansive finish.

From the esteemed winemaker comes the exceptional Kei Shiogai Pommard 2022. Produced in the hallowed soils of Burgundy's renowned Pommard region, this exquisite Pinot Noir stands out as a testament to Shiogai's dedication to traditional winemaking. Kei Shiogai, a Japenese oenologist living in Burgundy, has focused his expertise to cultivate this remarkable wine.

The 2022 vintage benefited from an exceptionally meticulous hand-harvesting and judicious sorting, following an optimal ripening period, contributing to the wine's profundity and elegance. The delicately extracted juice was matured in oak barrels, enhancing its complex character.

Kei Shiogai Pommard 2022 arrests one's senses with its distinguished bouquet of ripe red fruits, complemented by subtle earthy undertones, and a lingering mineral edge. On the palate, it unravels a symphony of flavours, balanced by firm yet refined tannins. A fine wine such as this promises to age gracefully, making it a treasured addition to any connoisseur's cellar.

A fuller purple than either Arlot cuvée, which is as normal. The bouquet holds the promise of clean fruit at optimum ripeness, but does not deliver detail at this point. Plenty of energy here, some slightly firmer tannins, correct acidity, and then the more perfumed red berry fruit, slightly more raspberry here, returns at the back. Drink from 2030-2037. A mid crimson colour, slightly deeper than Mont des Oiseaux. Rather more pure red fruit on the bouquet. Fine tension, medium plus bodied, more strawberry than raspberry, with an even fruit through to the finish, where the fine tannins and light acidity are in balance. Drink from 2029-2036. Quite floral in fact, plenty of sunshine in the fruit but here in Pommard the vine resists better and the tannins are very refined. A delicious aftertaste. Burghound (88-90)

(this includes the fruit from the domaine’s .6 ha parcel of Au Bas de Combe as well as fruit from Les Lavières and the villages portion of Aux Grandes Vignes). Here the expressive nose blends hints of cassis and red berry liqueur with those of soft spice and newly turned earth. There is a lovely texture to the solidly concentrated medium weight flavors that also conclude in a firm, mildly warm and serious but not especially rustic or youthfully austere finish

(from a .73 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). A deft application of wood sets off the markedly ripe yet still nicely fresh nose of poached plum, black cherry liqueur and warm earth. As one would reasonably expect, there is better volume and density to the more powerful medium-bodied flavors that are at once rich and caressing before terminating in a palate soaking, very firm and sneaky long finish. Lovely and a wine that should be approachable after only 5-ish years yet easily reward a decade plus of cellaring
