The deep purple-hued 2020 Château Dassault is another remarkable 2020 Saint-Emilion that shines on all accounts. Gorgeous raspberries, blueberries, dried flowers, spicy wood, and orange blossom notes all emerge from this complex, elegant, medium to full-bodied effort, and it's balanced, has silky tannins, and a great finish. It's going to shine with just 2-3 years of bottle age, and I suspect have 15-20 years of overall longevity.HK$2,100.00 -

The 2020 Dauzac has a harmonious black cherry, boysenberry and cedar bouquet, touches of iodine and violets emerging with aeration; this nose has a lot of panache. The palate is medium-bodied and quit dense, offering supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and superb mineralité and breeding on the finish, which is almost pixelated in style. This is an outstanding Margaux from the Dauzac team, one that punches above its weight.HK$2,275.00 -

Ruby red, plenty of red fruit aromatics also, savoury redcurrant and raspberry, not as concentrated as some, this has sinew and juice, a little austere, but I like the floral aromatics as it opens. A fairly subdued Fieuzal, structured with excellent juicy tension but not generous at this point. Tasted twice. 14 months ageing.HK$2,010.00 -

The 2020 de Pressac is a wine of real charm and seduction. Bright floral and citrus notes drive a core of sweet red cherry fruit. Chalk, mint, white pepper, smoke and dried herbs lend notable aromatic complexity. As always, the blend includes Cabernet Franc plus drops of Malbec and Carménère, which lends quite a bit of nuance. The 2020 is an especially elegant Pressac. In my view, Pressac remains one of the most criminally underrated wines in all of Saint-Émilion. On the other hand, that makes it a screaming value.HK$3,155.00 -

The 2020 Destieux has a clean but slightly overdone nose with light peppermint scents coming through with aeration. The palate is full-bodied with quite dense tannins. It's plush but less overbearing than I have found previous vintages of Destieux, managing to retain some freshness and precision on the finish. I'll keep an eye on this.HK$4,340.00 -

The 2020 Deyrem Valentin retains its precocious, licorice-tinged bouquet, pressed iris flowers, hints of candied orange peel emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, a little soft on the finish but with satisfying length. This will be quite approachable and should drink over the next decade.HK$1,450.00 -

Rich and powerful, this is a seductive Barsac that has a great balance of acidity and sweetness, nothing too over the top, full of lime zest and mandarin, with tongue-licking slate on the finish. Great stuff, extremely well balanced. A yield of 16hl/ha. 10 months in barrel for ageing followed by nine months in stainless steel.HK$3,545.00 -

The 2020 Domaine de Cambes has a perfumed, floral bouquet of black plum, bilberry and raspberry preserve infused with pressed iris and violet petals; fine delineation and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, and a little oaky at the moment, but there is an attractive underlying peppery, almost sage-like note that comes through on the finish. Give this 2–3 years once in bottle.HK$2,240.00 -

The Grand Vin 2020 Domaine De Chevalier ratchets everything up another notch and will be one of the legendary wines from this address. Notes of pure cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and scorched earth define its incredible aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. This is pure, classic, regal Pessac-Léognan is as good as anything in the vintage. Give bottles 4-6 years and it will evolve for 50, 60, 70+ years. I absolutely love this wine. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc.HK$3,495.00
