This is very inky with lots of tar and iodine. Blackcurrants, too. Full-bodied. Very muscular for the vintage. Needs time to soften.HK$3,165.00 -

The 2021 Clos Floridene has a perfumed, incense-tinged bouquet of light tobacco and undergrowth aromas and decent fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, pretty red fruit and a beautifully balanced, cohesive finish. This is how to do 2021 without having to push too hard.HK$830.00 -

This has grip and energy, striking gooseberry and citrus fruits, cold ash and white pepper spices giving focus on the finish. One of the best Clos Floridène whites for years, and what a pleasure to taste. 25% new oak and lees stirring.HK$1,395.00 -

The 2021 Clos Fourtet is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage on the Right Bank. Towering in its stature, the 2021 is a regal wine endowed with tremendous energy and vibrancy. This classically austere Saint-Émilion oozes class from the very first taste. Blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender and menthol are some of the aromas and flavors that build into the resonant, deeply pitched finish. What a wine.HK$5,950.00 -

A very fine-tannined red with currant, berry, violet and dried orange peel. Medium body, firm tannins and a linear finish. Very fine and pretty. This will age nicely. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc.HK$6,915.00 -

A wine that just screams limestone, the 2021 Clos Lunelles has vivid ruby/purple hue as well as brilliant notes of black raspberries, cassis, white flowers, chalky minerality, and graphite. It's medium-bodied, has a layered, ripe mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and outstanding length. Give it just a few years and enjoy over the following decade. The blend is 80% Merlot and 10% each of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, raised in 50% new barrels.HK$1,555.00 -

From ancient and predominantly ungrafted vines, Clos Manou's 2021 Cuvée 1850 Vignes Prephylloxeriques was matured in equal parts new oak and glass wine globes. Unwinding in the glass with notes of minty berries, violets, rose petals and lilac, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a layered and concentrated mid-palate, ripe tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, pure finish. In a blind tasting, this could cause serious problems for more than a few top-classified growths, but that's hardly surprising when one has seen Dief's impeccable vineyard work and spotlessly maintained winery.HK$3,695.00 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)
The 2021 Clos Manou is supple, racy and super-expressive. A burst of red/purplish fruit, rose petal, mint, spice and lavender lend quite a bit of up front intensity. Clos Manou is beautifully done in 2021. It is sure to find many fans.HK$1,565.00 -

The 2021 Clos Marsalette Blanc is gorgeous stuff, with a terrific mineral component as well honeyed citrus and grapefruit notes, some earthy, almost truffly notes, medium body, beautiful purity, and a great finish. This complex, layered, vibrant white will evolve and drink nicely for a decade.HK$1,935.00 -

An absolutely brilliant wine in the vintage, the 2021 Clos Saint Julien reveals a healthy ruby hue to go with a terrific perfume of darker currants, cherries, camphor, spicy wood, and tobacco. It's medium to full-bodied, has fabulous concentration, fine tannins, and a great finish. This is one of the few 2021s that will compete with prior vintages. It offers pleasure today, yet this is one I wouldn’t be surprised to see shut down with 2-5 years of bottle age. I think it will ideally be given 5-7 years of bottle age, and it's going to see its 20th birthday in fine form. Hats off to the team for this remarkable effort.HK$3,370.00 -

Another brilliant wine from this team, the 2021 Clos Saint-Martin reveals a medium ruby hue to go with a gorgeous array of black cherries, redcurrants, smoked tobacco, chalky minerality, and spice. It's medium-bodied and elegant, which is very much in the vintage, yet it has beautiful mid-palate depth, ripe, velvety tannins, and flawless overall balance. It's a beautiful wine that readers should buy a case of for drinking over the coming 15 years.HK$3,600.00 -

This vintage, which can be overly straight and austere, benefits from the house style of Cos, where they are happy to add a twist of gourmet glamour, and I am seriously impressed with this wine. It showcases the successful sides of a cool vintage in spades, with bitter black chocolate, cool blue fruits, lemongrass and turmeric and black pepper spices. 55% new oak. 3.79ph. 53% of overall production is for the 1st wine, the rest in Pagodes. Easily one of the wines of the vintage.HK$7,030.00 -
James Suckling (97)
Aromas of sliced pears, green apple, matchstick, and dried papaya follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and phenolics that give it structure and tightness. Slightly chewy at the end. Very structured. Give this time to open and show its true self. Try after 2026.HK$6,745.00 -

Deep crimson. Nose is both fresh and ripe. Not the most opulent wine; it finishes a little dry. Really quite drying in fact. There’s no shortage of ripe fruit here and the minerality of St-Estèphe imposes itself. Another wine that does not taste as though it came from an unripe vintage but you need to love St-Estèphe to love this wine. The finish is distinctly inky and hard work.HK$1,925.00 -

Tasted on two separate occasions, the 2021 Château Cote De Baleau reveals a dense ruby hue to go with beautiful aromatics of ripe black cherries, roasted herbs, leather, and smoked tobacco. It's a rich, medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, elegant Saint-Emilion with a supple, layered mouthfeel, ample tannins, and outstanding length. It's a gorgeous 2021 that readers will love. Drink bottles over the coming two decades.HK$1,050.00 -
