  • Mauvesin Barton 2021 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)

The 2021 Mauvesin Barton was picked from 30 September until 11 October and aged in one-third new oak. There is more Cabernet this year (52%) due to frost damage. It has a vibrant nose with black cherries, bilberry and perhaps more floral scents than I have encountered apropos previous vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, not a deep or powerful Moulis, yet well-balanced and surfeit with freshness, a pleasant bitter swerve on the finish.

  • Mazeyres 2021 (24x37.5cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)

The 2021 Mazeyres has a well-defined nose with vivacious red fruit tinged with blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite ferrous in style with just a little attenuation towards the finish. Drink over the next 10 years.

  • Meyney 2021 (12x37.5cl)

    Jancis Robinson (17)

Cask sample. Excellent depth of flavour and ripeness. Sappy with no skinniness. Really no sign that this was a difficult vintage. Complete. Fresh with ripe tannins dominated by vibrant, ripe fruit. It even has some impressive persistence. It’s not super-ripe but is certainly ripe enough.

  • Monbousquet 2021 (12x75cl)

  • Monbrison 2021 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (88-91)

The 2021 Monbrison is a very pretty, perfumed Margaux marked by strong aromatics and fine balance, in the classic, mid-weight style of the year. Dried leaves, tobacco, blood orange, cedar and mint lend notable presence throughout.

  • Montlabert 2021 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (89-91)

The 2021 Montlabert has a well-defined bouquet with black cherries and wild strawberry fruit, the oak here nicely integrated. The palate is succulent and ripe on the entry, harmonious with (again) well-integrated oak and quite a suave finish. This is a fine showing given the growing season.

  • Montrose 2021 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (97)

The remarkable 2021 Montrose gets my nomination for the title of "wine of the vintage" in the Médoc. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of cassis and dark berries mingled with subtle hints of mint, orange, pencil shavings and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a layered and multidimensional core of fruit underpinned by beautifully ripe, refined tannins. Concluding with a long, resonant finish, it entirely transcends the limitations of the year. This young classic, reminiscent of the estate's 1996 but far better, is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

  • Moulin Riche 2021 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91-93)

The 2021 Moulin Riche is a dark, racy Saint-Julien. Black cherry, plum, spice, new leather, tobacco, menthol and licorice are all dialed up in a generous, inviting 2021 that has much to offer. There's lovely upfront intensity here. I would prefer to drink this succulent, yet mid-weight Saint-Julien over the next decade or so.

  • Olivier 2021 (12x75cl)

    Decanter (93)

Lovely nose of sour cherry, caramel, roses and blackcurrants; so expressive. Dense and chewy fruit on the palate - this has a succulence and sweet softness which is appealing. It's lightly framed, not dense or weighty but has excellent clarity and precision: clear, linear with tension and drive. It's focused and all in one stream right now but I love the juiciness, the texture and the minerality. Will be good to see how the ageing expands the palate. A clear Pessac success in the vintage.
