The 2019 Pavillon De Léoville Poyferré is another great second wine in the vintage and has a great bouquet of black cherries, mulberries, spicy incense, and sappy, floral nuances. With medium to full-bodied richness on the palate, it offers terrific complexity, supple yet present tannins, the freshness and elegance of the vintage, and a great finish. It will evolve for 15+ years or more.HK$2,145.00 -

Ripe currants, cassis, graphite, leafy herbs, and smoky notes all emerge from the 2022 Pavillon De Léoville Poyferré, a full-bodied, rich, layered mouth-filling second wine that has ripe tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. Based on 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, coming primarily from younger vines, it should keep nicely through 2042.HK$1,690.00 -
(12x37.5cl) 2021Pavillon du Glana 2021 exemplifies the pinnacle of Château Glana's vinicultural mastery in the esteemed Loire Valley. Crafted from meticulously selected Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, this vintage undergoes a meticulous fermentation process in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving its vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity. The wine is then aged for twelve months in French oak barrels, imparting subtle nuances of vanilla and toasted brioche without overshadowing its natural finesse. The terroir's unique limestone and clay soils contribute to its crisp minerality and elegant structure. Domaine Glana, renowned for its unwavering commitment to sustainable farming practices, ensures each bottle reflects both tradition and innovation. On the palate, Pavillon du Glana 2021 reveals layers of citrus zest, green apple, and delicate floral notes, culminating in a refined, lingering finish. This exquisite expression is a testament to Château Glana's dedication to producing fine wines of exceptional quality and character.

The 1982 Pavillon Rouge came with modest expectations since bottles can be variable, yet this is an absolute delight. There is something almost gentle about the nose, well-defined with a touch of sous-bois; the warmth of the summer percolates through and imparts a slight, confit-like note. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity. Whilst it does not have the depth and concentration of the Grand Vin, it is harmonious and smooth, showing little sign of age on the finish. A marvelous Deuxième Vin. Tasted at 67 Pall Mall at a private dinner.HK$24,575.00 -

The 1989's finish is abrupt, but there is a black fruit character that is accompanied by copious quantities of toasty oak. Drink it over the next 3-6 years.HK$13,690.00 -

Very dark crimson – looks much bluer than the 1996. Still bluer than the 2004. Savoury, complex, really rather gorgeous nose even if far from the first flush of youth. Sumptuous nose even if on the palate it’s more austere than the nose suggests. Quite grainy tannins on the finish but lovely balance. Very fresh.HK$20,965.00 -

Not nearly as concentrated, although elegant, in a much lighter style than the 2003, with notes of cedar, herbs, red and black currants as well as licorice, this is a medium-bodied, more streamlined and austere Pavillon Rouge to drink over the next decade.HK$1,995.00 -

Margaux’s second wine, the 2004 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux, may turn out to be outstanding. Its deep ruby/purple hue is accompanied by fleshy notes of black currants, cherries, smoke, earth, and spring flowers. Lovely, ripe, and opulent, it is best consumed during its first 10-15 years of life.HK$10,955.00 -

The 2005 Pavillon Rouge is in a beautiful spot right now where it is just beginning to show signs of aromatic complexity and nuance. At fifteen years of age, the DNA of the vintage remains - Pavillon Rouge is a potent, hulking wine. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and anise add layers of nuance. Readers lucky enough to own the 2005 should be delighted. I imagine the 2005 will drink beautifully for another decade or more. Today it is positively stellar. The more it opens in the glass, the more classic it becomes.HK$15,165.00 -

Tasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux has a crisp and well defined bouquet of black dusky fruit, sandalwood, bay leaf and a touch of warm gravel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and impressive structure. There is a linearity about this Pavillon Rouge, with a dash of white pepper towards the finish, as it clings to the mouth and says, I'm going to last longer than you think in bottle. This initially suggested a drinking window of around a decade, but now a decade on, it has other ideas. Tasted February 2017.HK$15,135.00 -

(12x75cl) 2010The 2nd wine of the infamous Chateau Margaux, its first official vintage was in 1906 and is one of the oldest 2nd wines. The 2010 is powerful, full bodied with great depth. It has aromas of black fruit, forest floor and a touch of spice. This has good ageing potential.HK$15,720.00 -

Deep purple. Sexy nose of redcurrant, fresh herbs and vanilla. Lively on entry, then soft and ripe, with multilayered red fruit, herb and cocoa flavors. The pure, long finish is ripely tannic. Paul Pontallier told me that the estate is paying more attention to Pavillon Rouge, as it has become such an important and sought-after wine that Margaux cannot really afford to have it be anything less than excellent.HK$14,520.00 -

The 2012 Pavillon Rouge is soft, supple and open knit, with plenty of dark red cherry, cherry pit, tobacco and brambly flavors. Initially a bit brooding, the 2012 becomes more finessed with time in the glass. Sweet floral and minty notes add freshness on the finish. The tannins are silky and polished throughout. Drink this supple, forward Pavillon Rouge over the next decade or so.HK$1,520.00
