(This wine was aged in 30% new oak, vs. 15% to 20% for the village wines.) My score assumes that this wine will absorb its oak element with time in the cellar. |

Wine Advocate (93+)Mugnier's 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is a terrific success in the 2015 vintage and is strongly reminiscent of the excellent 2005 rendition, opening in the glass with aromas of creamy cassis, ripe cherry, dark chocolate and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied and sapid, with succulent acids, an ample chassis of rich tannins and excellent length. This is one of the rare cases of a great Burgundy from a great domaine that is available in some volume, and no one should fixate on Mugnier's Chambolles at the expense of this lovely Nuits. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Pruliers was much more backward on the nose compared to the 2014 les Roncières when I tasted it at the domaine; this is broody and a bit sulky at the moment. The palate is more expressive with fine, saturated tannin. The new oak is a little more prominent here and will need time to be absorbed, but there is plenty of fruité and density on the finish; plus there is tangible mineralité and indeed, spiciness on the finish that has more concentration than Etienne Grivot's other Nuits-Saint-Georges. Superb. |

This is also admirably seamless and should amply reward extended keeping. |

I adore the precision of these aromatics. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, notes of blackberry and raspberry preserves, a keen line of acidity and a pleasant touch of bitterness toward the long finish. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a little chewiness on the entry and good grip. The palate has more matiere than the regular cuvee with a fine line of acidity and just a touch more backbone towards the persistent finish. This is very fine and should age well over the next 15 years. |

What is needs is a little more flesh to develop towards the finish, as it does come across as very linear and strict at the moment. Let's see how it performs in bottle. |
