Like the 2015 Les Beaux Monts, there is wondrous focus and precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. This is full of energy and tension, with a killer line of acidity and wonderful structure and precision towards the mineral-rich finish. It will require several years in bottle, but it has the substance and complexity to repay patience. |

It's deceptively forward, as this has the minerality and focus to age. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru perhaps has the most mineral-driven bouquet of Grivot’s Premier Crus: graphite-infused red fruit, touches of forest floor, very precise and detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-sculpted tannins. There is unerring symmetry here and whilst it may miss a bit of substance on the finish, this may well be addressed by the time it finishes its élevage. Superb. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (94-96)The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a lifted, perfumed, quite floral bouquet that is more flirtatious than the Les Beaux Monts. The red berry fruit comes out and hugs the senses. Its palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine acidity, conveying a sense of symmetry. It's not a powerful Les Suchots and it just tapers in a little toward the finish. This is very controlled and perhaps more linear than presupposed. This should be intriguing to observe maturing in bottle. |

At once creamy and gripping in the mouth, with a liqueur-like ripeness nicely buffered by mineral energy. Conveys a lighter touch than most of these 2009s. The long finish shows fine-grained tannins. Really spreads out on the end to saturate the palate. Alain Meunier picked early in 2009 but still finds most of these wines a bit heavy; he told me that he did not acidify. |

The middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouthfeel with a silky mid-palate yet the hugely long and slightly warm finish is borderline chewy. There is no doubting the quality of the underlying material and the length here is genuinely superb but it would be fair to observe that this is a very robust RSV. Patience will be required. |

Vinous (96)The 2016 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet. The fruit is darker than its peers: blackberry, boysenberry, hints of blueberry and crushed violet petals. This is quintessential Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and perfectly judged acidity. In a region with some of the world’s most expensive and sought after Pinot Noir, the appellation of Vosne-Romanee is at the very top of this list, consistently outshining even its most impressive neighbours. Much has been waxed poetic about these wines, which are praised for their intensity, power, finesse, richness, and overall elegance. There are eight Grand Cru vineyards here including Richebourg, Romanee-Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, as well as the monopoles La Grande Rue (Domaine Lamarche), La Romanee (Comte Liger-Belair), and Romanee-Conti and La Tache (both monopoles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.)
