Medium red. Aromas and flavors of raspberry, blueberry, smoky minerality and exotic spices, with complementary oak tones. Wonderfully pliant and smooth but with peppery and saline elements restraining its sweetness and contributing to an impression of inner-mouth perfume and lift. A superb, tactile midweight with very suave tannins and outstanding juicy persistence. Very silky and not at all austere.HK$21,100.00 -
(1x75cl) 2013Experience the majesty of the Pascal Marchand Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2013, an embodiment of a defining year in Burgundy winemaking. Excelled by the visionary Pascal Marchand, former regisseur at Comte Armand and Domaine de la Vougeraie, this enviable vintage is a testament to recuperative winemaking. The wine's lavish bouquet of red and black fruits, peppered with slight minerality, promises an indulgent olfactory experience. On the palate, it unfurls with a sophisticated harmony of bold fruitiness and silky tannins, culminating in a persistent finish. The meticulous use of oak bestows a pleasing balance, not overshadowing the terroir's expression. As this wine refines over time, so does the depth of its elegance and complexity. A bottle of Pascal Marchand Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2013 is not just a fine wine acquisition; it's an embossed invitation to the distinguished Burgundy wine legacy.

(bottled in February of this year; all of the other '13s were bottled in November or December of '14): Healthy pale yellow. Aromas of lime, mandarin orange and musky white flowers. Plush and spicy, showing good concentration and decent acid cut to the pear and mineral flavors. I wanted a bit more energy for Corton-Charlemagne. Javillier's vines face south and he lost just 20% of his crop to hail in 2013.HK$8,870.00 -

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Grande Montagne has a lot of reduction on the nose, perhaps too much, occluding terroir expression and sense of place. The palate is concentrated with a keen line of acidity -- weight in the mouth here with plenty of citrus fruit and spice towards the finish. If it can shake off that reduction with bottle age then this could turn out to be a fine Chassagne-Montrachet. Tasted May 2016.HK$2,830.00 -
Indulge in the exquisite taste of Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanee 2013, an exceptional vintage from the revered vineyards of La Romanee in Burgundy, France. The vines are carefully pruned to minimal yields, focusing on the concentration and expression of the terroir in each grape, which ultimately yields a wine of remarkable complexity and balance.
Boasting a lively and aromatic profile, Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanee 2013 reveals delightful layers of white florals, green apple and citrus, underpinned by a distinctive mineral streak and well-integrated oak nuances. Its graceful texture on the palate, coupled with a persistently elegant finish, ensures a wonderful dimension of sensorial pleasure. An excellent choice for those who appreciate the nuances of world-class Chardonnays.

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet 1Er Cru les Caillerets has a sophisticated and tensile nose, shimmering citrus fruit, granite and smoke aromas, a little terse at first, it soon loses its aloofness and becomes very engaging. The palate is very well balanced with a silver bead of acidity that cuts through the lightly honeyed fruit. There is impressive focus here, likewise impressive length, completing this class act. It may warrant a higher score with further bottle age. Tasted May 2016.HK$2,690.00 -

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 St Aubin 1er Cru les Charmois has an earthy, slightly green nose that lacks the clarity of pedigree of Jean-Claude Bachelet's own Charmois. There is a touch of boiled asparagus here. The palate is fresh on the entry, but it lacks substance and it feels a little thin and simple towards the finish. Tasted May 2016.HK$9,560.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
(no new oak): Bright, dark red. Deep aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, flowers and minerals. Rich, sweet and pliant; seamless and sappy, combining lovely fat and precision. Quite suave owing to its vinosity. From the northern corner of the appellation. An excellent showing today.HK$8,990.00 -
(3x150cl) 2013Burghound (93-96)
Don't Miss! An exuberantly spicy nose is comprised primarily of assorted red berries, floral nuances and wisps of earth, the sauvage and sandalwood. There is a cool and restrained mouth feel to the mineral-tinged and attractively pure medium-bodied flavors that are a beguiling combination of power and refinement on the balanced and strikingly persistent finish. The Chapelle is a lovely effort but there is quite simply another dimension of complexity present here. Note that while this is very firmly structured there is so much dry extract present that this should be approachable after only 6 to 8 years if desired though it should amply reward 15 to 20. 2028+HK$31,510.00 -

A big, rich wine, the 2013 Chambertin Grand Cru emphasizes extract and density, followed by gorgeous aromatics that give the wine its sense of dimension. Dried rose petals, white pepper and blood orange add elements of intrigue in an intense, resonant Chambertin that is likely to require quite a bit of cellaring. Power and finesse collide in a Chambertin of true pedigree.HK$36,950.00 -

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes offers a gorgeous interplay of rich Chambolle fruit along with brighter aromatic notes and tension that are often found in the northern sector of the village, all backed up by silky tannins that confer finesse. The 2013 is mostly fruit from Les Bussières, along with three barrels that would have been the straight Combe d'Orveau Chambolle.HK$7,260.00 -

Elusive and ethereal, the 2013 Mazoyères-Chambertin captures the essence of this great site. Violets, lavender, sage, menthol and plums are all laced together in a deep yet weightless Burgundy endowed with stunning finesse and class. Today, the Mazoyères comes across as seriously tannic and closed, which is likely a good thing for the future.HK$27,580.00 -

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a tightly wound bouquet, dark plum and raspberry fruit, a touch of blackberry, the oak nicely integrated although it is staying inside its shell for the time being. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red cherry and raspberry fruit, the tannins finer than I was anticipating, the acidity well judged as it segues into a backward but focused, quite structured finish. Christophe Perrot-Minot's Beaux Monts has very good potential. Tasted September 2016.HK$13,275.00 -

Damoy's 2013 Chambertin comes across as decidedly wild and powerful in style. Juicy black cherries, mint, sage, lavender and violets flesh out as the 2013 shows off its breadth and density. Today, the Chambertin is quite raw, as the malos aren't quite finished. I suspect the 2013 will be quite a bit more complete and harmonious in a few months, once the elements meld together further. Still, the 2013 is impressive just the same.HK$18,015.00 -

The 2013 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is incredibly dense at this stage. Powerful yet implosive, the 2013 is a ball of tightly wound energy. Dark cherry jam, cloves, mint and hard candy are barely developed in an embryonic Bèze that appears to have a very bright future ahead of it. The aromatics continue to soar as the wine sits in the glass, hinting at what is to come. Readers will have to be patient with this decidedly authoritative, incisive Bèze.HK$22,905.00 -

Pale yellow. Mineral, menthol and pear drop aromas show a slight medicinal aspect. The sweet pear drop character carries through onto the hugely concentrated palate, where sound acidity and a phenolic edge give the wine a rather muscular impression. But this extremely unevolved Batard needs time. All of this wine finished its malo.HK$31,600.00 -

Pale, bright yellow. Sexy spices lift orange and tangy mineral notes on the ripe, slightly exotic nose. Ripe, dense and tangy, showing a lovely balance of sweetness and acidity to its lemon and orange flavors. The long, perfumed finish features very good grip and lift, as well as the obvious influence of sweet oak. The yield here was in the restrained 40 hectoliters-per-hectare range.HK$5,705.00 -

(bottled in January of this year; began in 20% new oak and 80% _cuve, then was assembled in old barrels after the malolactic fermentation): Medium yellow. Strong vanillin oak on the nose. Ripe, plush and dry, with the stone fruit flavors currently dominated by oak spice and caramel. Still a bit youthfully austere but fresher than the Cuvée Authentique. Will it absorb the vanillin oak?HK$6,745.00 -
