Wine Advocate (96-98)As usual, there are three barrels of Cathiard's 2015 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, though whereas historically it was 100% new oak, there are two new and a single one-year-old barrel maturing this wine. It finished its malolactic in June. It has a very composed and pure bouquet that gains in volume with time, with aeration bunches of wilted violet. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannin, great structure and freshness here, the judicious use of new oak allowing the terroir to show through. It feels correct and strict on the finish, no bravura climax, rather finishing in more understated fashion and keeping you hooked. |

Wine Advocate (96-98)The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts has just a little less new oak than the Les Suchots this year. The aromatics are more backward and recalcitrant than the Les Suchots and demanded more coaxing from the glass. There is a sense of depth to the fruit, almost an opacity that suggests the fruit will only gradually open up. It was difficult wrenching your nose away from the glass! The palate is beautifully balanced with succulent fleshy tannin, voluminous in the mouth with immense concentration counterbalanced by a keen line of acidity. Very persistent in the mouth, this will be immense once in bottle. Cellar for as long as you can. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots has a gorgeous bouquet with mineral-rich red cherry, kirsch and strawberry fruit, quite open and expressive yet still beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, sorbet-fresh with hints of orange rind permeating the vibrant, fresh, tensile, almost tart red fruit, with a crisp and vivacious, animated finish. This barrel sample had so much energy that I almost asked Sebastien Cathiard for a leash. Electric! |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2015 Auxey Duresses 1er Cru comes from two parcels in Les Duresses and Les Grands Champs. It has a very satisfying bouquet with lifted blackberry, briary and light earthy notes. There is a light floral note developing. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, very well balanced with tart red cherry and cranberry leaf, nicely structured with a brisk, lively finish. |

Vinous (93)Healthy dark red. Piquant high-pitched scents of raspberry, bitter cherry and crushed rock. Wonderfully dense, bright and light on its feet, offering terrific rose petal lift to its pungent red berry and saline mineral flavors. A pure expression of crushed-stone terroir, and yet there's also a silkiness here that suggests a gentle extraction. The tannins are very suave but the wine shows signs of closing down in the bottle and will need patience. I'm not sure if I'd pick this brisk, sharply delineated beauty as a 2015. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2015 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with redcurrant, raspberry coulis, a touch of honey and a hint of Seville orange marmalade. It opens nicely in the glass, though does not slip into fifth gear at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, cohesive in the mouth and quite saline and spicy. There is generosity here, a trait of Charmes-Chambertin, with the mineral core surfacing right at the finish as it fans out. This is an impressive follow-up to the superb 2014 and it should give 20+ years of pleasure. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2015 Corton-Rognet Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet with blackberry, raspberry preserve, crushed rose petals and just a hint of blood orange, quite sophisticated in style for a Corton-Rognet. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy tannin on the entry. This does not shortchange you on fruit: blackberry, raspberry and a pinch of white pepper, leading to a structured and quite grippy finish that like Taupernot-Merme's other 2015s, manages to retain impressive freshness and elegance. It has an incredibly long aftertaste, over a minute in the mouth and you can still feel this. Highly recommended. |

Burghound (89-91)A completely different aromatic profile is present here with much more sauvage character to the earthy red and dark currant scents. The sleek, cool and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors possess both a bit more volume and noticeably more punch on the delicious yet entirely serious finish that is at once well-balanced and persistent. This lovely Gevrey villages is worth checking out. |

Vinous (93)The 2015 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has a very refined bouquet, offering more obvious red berry fruit than the 2014 if not quite the same degree of precision. The palate is medium-bodied, very pure and refined with a fine delineation, harmonious from start to finish with lightly spiced red fruit and that same disarming clarity that I discerned on the finish when I tasted this 2015 in barrel. Superb. Tasted at Flint Wines’ Taupenot-Merme retrospective. |

Vinous (94)The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a temptress of a nose, with open, welcoming red cherry, crushed strawberry and subtle mineral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. There is plenty of tightly knitted fruit here, and a patina of oak that is still to be assimilated, but also wonderful detail and subtlety on the sublime, sophisticated finish. This has enormous potential. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure) |

Wine Advocate (96-98)The 2015 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru, which includes 40% stems, has a gorgeous, engaging bouquet with a conspicuous oyster shell/marine influence running through the crystalline red berry fruit. There is outstanding aromatics, tension and energy here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, harmonious and candied with finer tannin than the Mazoyères-Chambertin that one used to find with Bertrand Maume's wines, blessed with superb salinity and precision on the finish. This is a brilliant wine from Domaine Tawse, probably the best that has been made under the new ownership. |

Vinous (90)Bright red-ruby. Musky, reticent aromas of mocha, leather and earth. Enters the mouth silky and subtly sweet, with its currant and blackberry fruit flavors showing a slight leathery rusticity. Finishes with ripe tannins and sneaky length--and an inviting juiciness. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2015 Corton Grand Cru has a modest nose following the pair of excellent Aloxe-Corton Premier Crus. The small proportion of whole bunch lends a little forest floor to the mix of broody dark fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin. There is a keen thread of acidity here although it tightens up towards the finish, slams the door shut (for now). Hopefully buyers will cellar this for several years, because it has huge potential. |

Jancis Robinson (19)Tenderly ripe red fruit, lovely sappy smoke aroma, some coffee and clove too - what a beauty! Exceptionally fine and expressive palate, with all the magic of grand cru. Surprisingly ready to drink, in many ways - yet there is clearly a whole host of complex flavour still in store. |

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
